sfc4prem Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 That'd be a good signing. Didn't he score against us in the FA Cup tie? Struggling ATM but class is permanent and he certainly would score in L1.
Window Cleaner Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 Tamas Priskin? Can I be the first to say: "Who?" Aren't we supposed to be in the market for players who will help us push for the Championship title next year rather than rejects from struggling Championship sides....? he was at Watford at one time, must have played against us I think. Horley CTFC Saint Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 Tubbs is a local player for local teams, we'll have none of his trouble here! Tubbs has been scoring a lot of goals for my local club this season and whilst there are allegedly a number of League clubs looking at him including Leeds I suspect he may be a bit of a primadonna - still he's performed for Crawley so you cant knock it. My understanding is that they want to keep hold of him if they can and at the current time as a club they are a bit like Saints and don't need the money

Tac-tics Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 Priskin? what a vile contribution to the thread that is, Priskin would no way improve the team. Peter Halmosi, before his move, loads of saints fans wanted him down here, no harm on a short term contract. still want to see Neil Danns down here. Pilkington I would love but can't see it happening despite the bid rumour. Martyn Woolford, Charlie Austin, Le Fondre or even a disgustingly cheeky bid for Chris Eagles??? =/
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 Had a dream we signed Danns, Le Fondre and David Stockdale of all people last night. Hey ho.
CWD Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 Priskin would be immense IMO. I think Le Fondre is more likely though, I just have a feeling that we're in for him. Nothing ITK but I had a similar thought about Barnard last January! Woolford is obviously a very good player, but isn't he predominantly left sided? Unless he can play in other positions then I think he would be a waste of a large transfer fee. Pilkington would make me cream. Lallana and Pilkington on the wings? unbelievable, but I don't want to think about it too much, as it probably won't happen. What about Will Hoskins as a backup striker? He was quite a highly rated youngster IIRC, scored 13 goals in 23 apps for Brizzle this season

Ludwig Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 From 606: 'Ipswich striker Tamas Priskin is being chased by Swansea City and Southampton. Ipswich have been offered £1m for the Hungarian, but sources refuse to name who has offered a fee. "Tamas has no future at the club, and they have recieved a reasonable offer for him. He wants to stay in England and whether that be be in the Premiership, Championship or League One, he is prepared to hold talks with interested parties".' Not the type of player we'd want. Has talent, but is erratic and very frustrating, no guaranteed consistent end product. Would prefer a more proven player.

Chez Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 but didn't we sign Richardson as first choice right back?? Butterfield was a late addition because of Richardson's shoulder injury. so what, there is no reason why we couldn't have signed Richardson and Butterfield then we'd be in the same situation as we have with our two excellent left backs. Butterfield for me lacks pace and that is a weakness in that position. He's a decent enough player who has had decent games for us (and some poor ones too) but I'd much prefer Calderon. SaintNeil90 Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 James Beattie - Considering his age now, I could see this one happening but rumours of ex-players always seem to pop up and they never come true. Tamas Priskin - Seen him play a couple of times, always looks a threat, quick feet, good finish, would be happy if we signed him. Also dont quite understand why people keep going on about players who can play in the premiership. Adkins and Cortese have only talked about building a team that can compete at the top of the championship. I expect we would sign further players for the premiership. No player with the talent to play in the premiership will drop to League One!

David Strover Posted 6 January, 2011 Share Posted 6 January, 2011 There are better ones than that on Football Rumours. Michael Owen to Saints for starters. The same Michael Owen who I head on Radio 5 Live before Christmas saying he would never play outside of the Premiership and would rather retire than play in the lower leagues - he's that marvellous.....but if Saints offer he's bound to change that tune.... Miltonaggro Posted 6 January, 2011 Share Posted 6 January, 2011 Priskin is a quality player, got an awful lot to his game and much more to come, would be a great signing. Think we have as much chance of signing Michael Jackson as Michael Owen! Trousers I agree with your sentiment wholeheartedly, but would not be so quick to write off Billy Dainty's motivational skills, the dream team of Dainty and Arthur English could be the final piece in the SMS backroom jigsaw... Thought Martin was one of our better players in the early part of the season and now struggles to make the squad let alone the first 11.

It would appear to me that that there is something about Martin's game that Adkins and Crosby don't care for. Has he played once since they've been here ?? Lad must be really peeved, he was breaking through under the old regime and now he's been put to the back of the queue seemingly.

Don't think you can draw that conclusion based purely on team selection. Martin is obviously number 4 in the list of CBs and his games at the start of the season were when we were missing some options. He did well and he will be a good player in the future, hopefully for us, but he has plenty of time to develop and mature. I'm not sure you can play a 19 year old CB regularly in a promotion pushing side and the experience and strength of Fonte and Jaidi should rightly be used as the foundation of the defence. I'm sure he will be pushing for a place later in the season or next season.

Window Cleaner Posted 6 January, 2011 Share Posted 6 January, 2011 depends which games Micky Adams has seen him in because in some such as the Exeter game he was outstanding. In others less so obviously. Seaborne is Ok but may be chafing at the bit for some regular first team football, seems to be a bit of a bridesmaid at the moment. Same as Martin,at 21 he'll be wanting regular first team football as well.Seaborne has one big problem, he will keep putting his arm up across his opponents face, it's led to a couple of penalties already (Tranmere last year and one this year) and it will lead to more and some bookings (of which he gets his fair share already). I'm sure that our coaching staff can sort this out though but he's still doing it every game apparently, even Solent remarked on it over at sometime in the last few games.
