Saints foreva Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Have it on good authority that Anthony Pilkington is one of the bids Adkins is talking about. Not a chance he will be coming to Saints, Huddersfield have no need to sale and he is wanted by Premier League clubs.
SuperSAINT Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Irrespective of whether it's true or not, Pilkington is exactly the type of player we should be bidding for. He's probably the 3rd best winger in the league, after all
saints-cris Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 As much as I would love us to get someone like Pilkington, I really, really can't see that happening. People go on about Austin and yes that is more realistic him leaving as he is scoring non-stop and Swindon are at the wrong end of the table. I'm sure Swindon could also use the money. Huddersfield however are a bit of an up and coming club who are also in the top 6. I'm sure the Huddersfield reps could easily sell it to him even if he does want to leave that they have every chance of going up as we do. And the main point, they've got a bit of money behind them and have no reason whatsoever to sell. Be great if it happened though

Chez Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 pilkington is hard to believe-he recently i.e. 10 days ago signed a new contract with the udders taking his contract with them to 2014. doesn't mean we haven't made a bid.
Chez Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Would Pilkington come to Saints knowing he is probably not going to be first choice? we've rotated Chaplow, Hammond and Morgan so why not Chamberlain, Lallana and Pilkington. Long old season...
Scudamore Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 we've rotated Chaplow, Hammond and Morgan so why not Chamberlain, Lallana and Pilkington. Long old season... Because apparently we only use eleven players in our squad Anyway i don't want Pilkington here...he once had the audacity to celebrate a goal....what a turd... Chez Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Jose Sameda is a player I have always liked. Its a very long season so a 4th central midfielder would be great. As Boycott always says imagine the game with 2 more wickets down and the same shoudl apply to lost central midfielders especially when we have this brilliant run in the FA Cup. The Old dear is getting married on Cup final day so my advice is have a bet on Saints to make the final this year!

sfc4prem Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Don't see why people are so negative. We have enough allure and potential to attract Pilkington. We're going places. Huddersfield don't have the same potential as us. Either way he's a great player and I'd LOVE it if we signed him, LOVE it.
Chez Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/e/exeter_city/9337440.stm Exeter know how to boost a players valuation. We need a right midfielder, he looked classy, but lacking a yard of pace IMO. Prefer Pilkington but much easier to get obviously.
SuperSAINT Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Not *strictly* saints related but SKY saying Newcastle are preparing a bid for Gradel @ Leeds. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_6634977,00.html Wonder if that quashes their interest in Punch and/or Lallana? up and away Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Except that Poyet has excellent Spurs connections ... Don't want to deflate everyone, but I have heard we have put a bid in for a young lad, London team ( championship? ). More promise than the finished article. This came from a Spurs source, but I don't believe it is their player, more one they have been looking at as well. Should not be too difficult for anyone who knows their onions as I can only guess it will be from Palace, Watford or Millwall??

saintant Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 I reckon Craig Westcarr of Notts County is worth a look. Check out the goal he scored yesterday - great skill and awareness plus a cool finish. Seems to have pace to burn, strength, skill and an eye for a goal. Chez Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/467446719?-11205 I recall seeing him in the live FA cup game a few years back and he looked a decent player, very much a natural goalscorer. Of course its quite a jump, but we've seen Austin and Boyd do it so who knows. I can't see us signing him. The thing with having money (in relative terms) is you can dispense with the need to gamble. oldsarum Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 Seen Tubbs play plenty of times for Salisbury, he actually went on loan from them to Bournemouth a few of years ago. when he's playing well he is a great finisher, but very much a confidence player. He's small and most similar to Connelly of our current forwards He scored a cracker for Crawley against Swindon in Fa cup this year with volley hit with outside of foot

trousers Posted 5 January, 2011 Share Posted 5 January, 2011 A cynic might say that Saints are holding back the news that Guly has signed permanently to give them a "player signs" headline this month in the event that the bids they've put on for other players don't come off.
