Even though Aliadiere has a goal scoring record of 1 goal in what seems every 3.5 years! He's truely an awful player, I know he used to play for Arsenal, but just look at his goalscoring record. 21 goals in 151 games for a striker is pathetic!!

He could do a job as a squad player in League One though surely. I mean look at Bradley Wright Phillips, terrible for us in the CCC unless he was coming on as a sub but top scorer in L1. Although if he wants £10k a week then he can jog on!

But surely we want to move away from having all these "crap" squad players? Why sign him up on the basis he could do a job potentially maybe one in every 40 games. My mates a boro fan and is yet to stop laughing when I tell him how people on here actually want us to sign him!

Reading have been in the financial sh!ts for a while, AutoTrader went waaaaaaaay down in the market and Madejski lost a lot of money from it. Rumour had it about a year ago that he was going to sell up to try and recoup some of the money he has lost from AutoTrader. While we're talking about Reading players, Jem Karacan would be good. Does a similar job to Chaplow, but younger and better technically.

FYI, Trader Media is doing very well at the moment, not sure where you heard that all from??

I can see some mileage in the Madine rumour. He certainly appears to fill the 'good prospect with seasons ahead of him' to fit the stated criteria.Although of course we need someone to deliver in the ' here and now' rather than cultivate a player for two seasons before selling on.

Madine is a bit of a bad lad, he's got a packet of community service to do as well. Would be a decent signing but I really can't see us

paying a lot of money for a player who's supposed to be a bit of a problem case off the field..

Perhaps Lee Barnard can put him under his protective wing to keep him on the straight and narrow then.

Or a bit of counselling from Mark Dennis

I dunno really but given he was available for nowt and has played his whole career at a higher level thought he'd be worth a punt. I mean it's not like he'd be the first player that was crap in the PL but did okay in L1 would it.

Not sure what his form is like at Reading. No first team appearances. 12 sub appearances. 1 goal. Maybe we should be aiming a bit higher than that?

so what you are after is a NPC player that is playing regularly and scoring a few goals. Yeah, cos that sort of player is just desperate to drop down a division aren't they? NPC subs are exactly the standard of player/standard we can hope to acquire IMO. The alternative is from our own league, the leagues below or overseas.

I doubt if he'd even consider playing for us(or that we'd even consider paying what he'd ask) Sooner or later he'll get an offer from a club that he thinks fitting.Must have put a packet of cash aside so doubt if he's too worried.

He's been training at Middlesborough again of late and there is talk of him signing for them again.

From Patred on TUI:

"Between us and Norwich City..

Apparentley we have 'enquired' about two of their players.

Chris Martins and Owain Tudor Jones,..

Norwich are interested in Jason Puncheon ! "

Chris Martin anyone?

Why would Chris Martin want to join Saints? We're currently sitting outside the promotion places while Norwich are very much in a shout of being in the Play Offs in The Championship at the end of the season.

LOL@Anyone who thinks he is going to leave Norwich to join us.

As for Owain Tudor Jones, if that's the type of player we're aiming for then looks like we may be down in this league for a while! Awful player, far worse than anything we already have.

He sold Auto Trader in 1998 for £174 million which effectively made his original fortune !

He subsequently build up an empire of around 80 different businesses but had a blip in the 2008 credit crunch. He has since rationalised and I understand that he is still a very wealthy man !

Hull have agreed deals for Aaron McLean and Matty Fryatt. Forest are signing a US international. Deals are being done in readiness for 1st Jan so teams can have their new signings available for as long as possible over the remainder of the season. Hopefully, NA and NC have used the quiet time we've had match-wise to set up some deals so our squad is as strong as it can be, as soon as possible.

I don't know about the excitement about L1 players who have never played higher or hasbeens who stopped producing the goods a long time ago. Whenever we are promoted we will be left with a large amount of players who are not going to take us further and won't command prices in the transfer market. I think both NC and NA are too shrewd to go down that road. Surely we must be looking further than promotion?! There are already a number of our players who will have outstayed their usefulness when in the CCC.

I fear that all the talk about how good our squad is and how much it has cost in comparison with other L1 clubs may have lead us astray. Maybe even NC believes the propaganda, and doesn't think that there is much strengthening needed. I suspect that we already have seen this squad at it's best, and only some new blood will re-energize it. But then we need to look at players clearly better than we have already, which is going to cost a large sum however we look at it.

Not neccessarily. Adkins built a championship side with next to no money. Having a good eye for the up, coming and hungry is just as important as spending money on players who have earned a reputation and profile over the years but may have passed peak or lost the drive.

No chance mush.

i disagree if we can get Micheal Owen & Woodgate on loan and maybe ask Redknapp if he'll loan or sell us David Bentley as he isn't playing at Spurs i reckon we might make the play offs. Player are crawling over each other to get here, didn't you know?
