No thanks to Gillespie, decent at Man U but mixed since and far too old now. If you think Puncheon is trouble, this bloke is different gravy! I've got a feeling Kapo almost joined us a few years ago but there was a medical issue, possibly cardiac-related? Can't have been too chronic as he's had a decent career.

Coming from northern ireland and having seen him play in the irish league last year (where he wasnt good enough), i can tell you hes way past it....good player in his day though

Amen to that.

Ian Thomas-Moore has gone from Tranmere to Rotherham. Could it mean Le Fondre on the move?

No its just that Le Fondre has only scored 1 goal since the end of November !

Any news on whether Gael N'Lundulu made much of an impression during his trial last week? Noticed he wasn't in the development squad against Oxford, so presumably trial over.

The Saints twitter said he was a way off being first-team fit if he did sign, so I'd assume he didn't pass a trial as he didn't feature today.

Had a quick look online at the Brum-WHU game tonight. One or two who might DAJFU but boy, is the football crap. Neither side can pass the ball.

Literally all 22 players would "DAJFU". Hth.

I know there are reports saying Austin is Ipswich-bound but maybe our plan is Seaborne plus cash for Austin and then buy Jason Pearce from Bompey, as weren't there rumours about a potential mystery signing from there a week or so ago? Maybe we won't push on for Pearce until Seaborne goes. All hypothetical but makes sense to my tiny mind.

is it not better to bring in a player in first before releasing another and potentially leaving ourselves short if said player we were after decided not to come or if the selling chairman decided to change terms. i would have though a defender would come in first before a seabourne part exchange deal would happen.

I doubt hes very irish, didnt play for the republic, but the other 2 attributes are correct

Keith Robert Gillespie (born 18 February 1975 in Larne, County Antrim) is a Northern Irish professional footballer

Most posters on here have no idea about Gillispie being Irish or Northern Irish or if he came from Ulster or the 6 Counties. What in your eyes was missing was the Northern. All most care about is that he kicked a football (once).

If Austin is on his way to Ipswich or Blackpool and Mackail-Smith could well be staying at Posh until summer, what other striking options are available to us, if we do want to bring someone in? Will Hoskins is having a decent season in a poor Bristol Rovers side, Glenn Murray at Brighton is out of contract in the summer or a Championship striker like Tyson or Garner from Forest?

Nick Illingsworth is absolutely spot on in his article on the Ugly site today. We'd be better off spending the bulk of our transfer budget on a goalkeeper than a striker. It's Davis that may well cost us promotion, not a lack of goals scored.

My first time on this thread this season, anyone mentioned Shefki Kuqi yet ? Old and just released from Swansea ahead of schedule, but big and good in the air, and a Lambert replacement if ever there was one.

Quality goal celebration, but borders on obese.

Spurs do it just to spite the skates for their missing £1m? No chance, but I made myself smile.

This would make my 2011 if we managed to get him - quality footballer. Its worth a punt but there are plenty of Premier League teams that would have him.

With any chance of signing Charlie Austin now officially gone, I'd be very surprised if we made any big transfer now. Maybe a striker on loan, but that'll be it.

That's if we ever intended too in the first place

We have one on loan, and that will be it IMHO

Cortese to Adkins ..... "Make do with what you've got"

why has Cortese made bids then?

Think Adkins was being honest when saying squad is good enough but couple of possibles to improve it but if they don't come off then not shopping around

IMHO Just going through the motions

Two "major" targets for all clubs in this window. Austin and Mackail-Smith

Prices quoted circa 1.5 - 2 Million. Too much for Div 1 players ??? Not if there is a buyer

For Austin there was a buyer, for Smith ?? we will have to wait and see

I would be surprised if Cortese would go above £1 Million for either, and I don't blame him

Austin has ended up in a CCC Club with a real chance to go up again

Smith, IMHO, would make it in the CCC, and I'm rather surprised no one has made a move for him yet

IMHO, If a CCC Club came calling, he would go, but he won't be "allowed" to join a Rival Club in Div 1

I dont think Cortese would pay anymore than 1m on anyone in League 1, as no one is better than lambert/fonte for the money we paid they are the main players in this league, and we have them.

Austin was lucky, he got his chance and took it, I'm glad he didnt come to us, as he would of upset the dressing room, with his BIG IAM status, when he's only just small fry.

he wont perform there, he will get in a strop, I bet he's only on the bench....

I agree Nick.

How many people predicated the Dany N'guessan signing?

That's exactly it and how we work now. The signings we make are ones that have not been speculated, or even considered by us half of the time.

did I mention that Wednesday after Lee Cook on loan and `other' clubs are interested. The club offering the highest percentage of his wages wins.
