January Transfer Window HCDAJFU

At least they're signing players!! I know we've held on to Chaplow and Guly + convinced Lallana to stay but it would be good to introduce new blood to the squad a.s.a.p.

They were desperate for new blood though as they had a pretty demoralised starting 11 that was pretty stale.

Ours is good and doesn't need too many changes, although 1 or 2 new faces wouldn't be bad. Not totally desperate though IMO as long as Chambo stays.

To be honest I will be happy when the window shuts now. I hope we do bring in at least a couple of decent players but not for silly money. Looks like Ox is off to play for wicked uncle Wenger, which I'm sure the media are all now very pleased to see. It just eats them up to see talented players in Saints shirts and I think its a relief for them when we give in and sell them on. He wants to go so let him go, just hope we can bring in some game changers before the deadline. With results not going to plan in the last couple of games and losing our latest talent, it would be nice to hear some positive news soon on the transfer front. When the window is shut at least we will have a better idea as to where we are.

With respect, Saints COULD sign loads of players from Hampshire league, but it doesn't mean any of them would improve the Quality

It is QUALITY that is needed, NOT Quantity

What surprises me more than anything about this transfer window is that Adkins came in too late for the summer transfer window and the squad he has, with the exception of Chaplow, is the one he inherited from Pardew. This isn't Adkins' squad. When managers come in to any new job, they want to build their own squad, one that has the ability to play they want them to play, and have the qualities that suits the style of play they are looking to implement. Adkins has had nearly a month to add 'his' players - I'd be stunned if we didn't add one or two before the end of the window.

It could simply be that we DO have a good Squad of players, and that Adkins has been able to get them to PLAY FOOTBALL, whereas Pardew (this season) was not either able or willing to do

Tyson is out of contract at end of season - might be worth offering him say an 18 month deal. Injury prone but his pace is devastating at League 1 levels. Article on BBC Sport website. Weren't we linked when Pardew was manager?

Saw that just now. Would be a quality signing. (And can play as a wide man too).

That's true, the Hampshire and Wessex Leagues are no better than parks football nowadays, and the Southern League is about as strong as the Wessex League was 20 years ago.

Because he is 35 (36 in Feb 2011) and was last seen playing non league football in tier 6 of the English Leagues (but was released a few days ago) and also had a recent spell in the Northern Irish League.

Lost his pace (probably his main asset) and old. Why would Saints want him?

Coming from northern ireland and having seen him play in the irish league last year (where he wasnt good enough), i can tell you hes way past it....good player in his day though

Totally agree. I seen him play in the Irish League last season for Glentoran & he's definitely past it.
