Chez Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Liverpool will send Nathan Eccleston to Charlton on loan for the rest of the season according to SKY. Perhaps they are loaning out some youngsters to get new players into the 25 player squad? youngsters don't form part of the 25

Chez Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 If they've already got someone who is that good at 17, why would they want to try to sign Chamberlain? any reason why you wouldn't want two, three or eleven potentially world class 17 year olds at your club?
Crab Lungs Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/doncaster/9359339.stm Whaley CDAJFU... can play capably at Championship level, just needs someone to take a relatively inexpensive chance on him. If it doesn't work, he leaves - it's as simple as that.
Crab Lungs Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 http://www.footylounge.com/films/milankakabaros/fernandez-suso-v-crystal-palace-08012011-video_abf4ead08.html Suso Obviously not the finished article but looks excellent. Lol@Liverpool playing Lucas, Poulsen etc in front of him though...
Jimmy_D Posted 12 January, 2011 Author Posted 12 January, 2011 I suspect the home grown European rule is in their thinking The home grown rule only applies to players over the age of 21, and by training at Liverpool for three years before he's 21, he'll count as home grown. (It's because of this I think that Owen Hargreaves doesn't count as home grown) Nationality doesn't come into it to get around EU employment laws.
bigchrisy Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Lee Cook supposedly looking for a loan move. Fantastic player if my memory serves me right and would give us another option on the wings.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Lee Cook supposedly looking for a loan move. Fantastic player if my memory serves me right and would give us another option on the wings. Good player but we already have one injury prone winger called Lee in the squad.
beavis17 Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11771_6659716,00.html Done well for Hereford, young and strong but again I'm not sure he's what needed for The Championship and beyond...
saint lard Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 (edited) Robbie savage has just tweeted he wants away from Derby,be it now or end of the season. He has been offered a contract at Vancouver White Caps, but he is not sure due to family not settling and even not going out there. He also wants to carry on his media work here. Rio Ferdinand is trying to persuade him he would be stupid to go. I say go in for him, make an offer,he still has something to offer, imo. Edited 12 January, 2011 by saint lard
Chez Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Lee Cook supposedly looking for a loan move. Fantastic player if my memory serves me right and would give us another option on the wings. I suggested him on this very thread about two weeks ago. Absolutey ideal replacement for Puncheon. Top, top player. He's not injury prone, he had a terrible injury when he came back to QPR and then the medical staff made a major error in terms of their asessment of his injury and brought him back far too early. Warnock words. He is apparently fully recovered now, he just needs matches to get fully fit. I'm not sure we can give him them, but if Puncheon goes then we MUST have cover for Alex.

He brings experience, but do we honestly need that. The likes of Davis, Fonte, Richardson, Hammond and Lambert have all been around for yonks so we have plenty of that. If we are going to sign a centre midfielder then Jose Sameda for me. He has played in the championship and did well. Unlike Savage he is improving every year. Having fallen from grace now is the time to bring in players good players that are improving not players who's best days have gone.
EBS1980 Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 He didn't say he wants away from Derby, his contract is up and said he will be leaving.

Don't think you have ever mentioned this semedo bloke before Chezer ?
CWD Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Prisken, one of our targets supposedly playing very well tonight!!!!!! and has just scored a cracking goal. HCDAJFU
derry Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Priskin back in favour at Ipswich, just scored against Arsenal.
NickG Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Priskin back in favour at Ipswich, just scored against Arsenal. no good - read it on here
thorpie the sinner Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 no good - read it on here doesn't matter now, we won't be getting him!!
Chez Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Don't think you have ever mentioned this semedo bloke before Chezer ? Nice. One of these days one of the players I suggest will be bought. The closesest I've got is suggesting Puncheon when he was at Barnet.

doggface Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Sky Sports mentioned us scouting him in December, but been told today that one of our bids made IS for Palace winger Kieron Cadogan. No I wont tell you my tomato sauce.

Rebel Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Ryan Harley isn't playing for Exeter tonight - is that because he's injured or is he talking to another club. He's one if the players we've been linked with.
Hatch Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Can't we just buy Brightons best player, whoever that is. Not to improve us, but to make them weaker.
gjphilsaint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Avoid the "Beckham" factor of getting someone in who may upset our balance, only invest (for now) in areas where we see weakness or light in cover... then push on... it should be enough for this season. Then if we go up take stock and push on. If we do not go up (gulp), then it could be a massive clearout.
itchen_dan Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Saints set to sign Bournemouth defender? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/8793107.Saints_plotting_Cherries_raid_/ Tbf, Bartley did look pretty good last night against Colchester, very calm and composed on the ball. Pearce however looked awful! Hope it isnt Wiggins. Another left back? Really?

saint lard Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 (edited) If and when we make any signing it should be someone that can not only fulfill a role now, but also be capable of doing a job in the Championship. Preperation for the step up should begin now, where possible. Any player worth his salt should be able to realise that we making major strides on the field of play and behind the scenes. Edited 15 January, 2011 by saint lard
Saint Charlie Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Probably Marvin Bartley who we are keen on. Nigel Adkins previous Football Club had a bid of 100k rejected for him this week, so maybe its him that he wants to join the bus journey?
revolution saint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Apparently Bartley started as a midfielder so another versatile player. I don't know much about him at all but seems to have had a fair bit of interest shown in him by other clubs. At 24 he'd be the right age for us as well.
positivepete Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/8793107.Saints_plotting_Cherries_raid_/ That is a poor article even by the low standards of the echo.........
Scudamore Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 I'd describe Bartley as more of a midfielder personally. Great engine on him, doesn't mind a tackle and gets in the box. And although they've rejected £100k sounds like he'd be relatively cheap. And the Cherries fans love him so would be particularly amusing watching them have a paddy if we got him! Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!

SuperMikey Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 If Lallana is injured, we should be targeting Michael Kightly on loan from Wolves imo. Don't think he's in Wolves' 25 because he was injured for the first part of the season, but he'd be quality at this level.
BILLY Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Want someone better than Kightly FFS. But who? Surman on the left? We do need a couple to come in though
SuperMikey Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Kightly is more than adequate for a few months on loan to cover an injury.
Chez Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Kightly is injured - ankle operation. Lee Cook is the perfect loan is Lallana is out for a couple of months.
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 IMO Charlie Austin,Ryan Harley and Woolford = Automatic promotion. Today showed we still lack strength in depth for all the people who have been harping on here that we don't need to sign anyone.Oscar Gobern is not ready,we had no alternatives on the wings with Lallana and Holmes injured and if NA doesn't rate Connelly and won't play him from the bench we need another option there. This squad might get automatic promotion but with 2/3 quality additions I would feel very confident not just hopeful.I agree we shouldn't just buy anyone and we need quality. We should use the loan system like all of our rivals if we can't secure our targets

corky morris Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Certainly a player that I would be looking to sign.......... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11703_6664263,00.html
