Apparently so. I spoke to the ticket office this week and was told that he no longer works for the club.

I mentioned this in the Blackpool Tickets thread but it probably got lost in there somewhere.

As you say, he was always a pleasure to deal with and extremely helpful whenever I contacted him.

David left last Friday

Best of luck to him in the future, he was always very helpful both to me personally and also to London Saints for whom I organise match tickets

I didn't think so. I always thought it was a bit of a 'we're badly run, I agree with everything customers say and give them exactly what they want' attitude.

That way he got made to look the good guy, despite being in charge of that area which was a bit of a shambles.

My manager works in a similar way and it f*cks me off. Makes it look like it's the people who works for hims fault when things go wrong - if it's our fault its poor managerial skills. As it happens, it's not our fault. It's his. I'm gunna go pis s in his coffee now.

I disagree. There have been a number of issues over the years that David Luker dealt with, often taking a lot of personal flak at the time, because he was shielding the club or the person who came up with the policy. He has helped explain often unpopular decisions and been the man in the middle who has to deal with unhappiness. I'm sure he'd be the first to admit that there have been times when things could've been handled better, or that he maybe has done or said the wrong thing. But he's only human and he was always under the spotlight of 30,000+ fans all of whom have an opinion about how things should be done, many with unrealistic expectations and no idea of the logistics of organising tickets and related products.

I for one think he did a very good job overall and thank him for his time at the club.

The couple of times I had any dealing with David Luker he was very helpful, once personally sorting out my ticketing cock-up while in the maelstrom of the lead up to the JP final.

Good luck to him.

No thats boring. Surely there is a 'player's wife' scandal to be circulated about his departure.

I heard he was poached by Newcastle who will be coming for all of our talent now that Mr Pardew is installed with the Toon.

He was always polite and exceptionally helpful the small number of times I had dealings with him - including sorting out a ticket office cock-up re. FA Cup Final tickets. he was a true gentleman and I wish him well in what he does next.

I had a lot of dealings with David over the years he was here, he nearly left once before to go to Wembley in some capacity in the ticket office. I really wish him the best of luck in the future and hope he found another position somewhere. He was always the gentleman and very helpful, I really believe we will miss him lots, he always took the trouble to answer emails from fans even if the answer wasnt what they were hoping for. Good luck David. PS does his wife still work at the club?

'I have now deleted the thread about David luker our former ticket office manager and supporter liason person.

Having spoken to him this morning, whilst he is touched by the kind words spoken by many, he has asked me to remove the thread so that various allegations mentioned by some posters cannot be misconstrued.

He has also asked me to point out that he left his post at SFC of his own free will and accord for another position.

I would ask that we all respect his wishes and do not comment or speculate further on the reasons why he has departed.

It is good to see that David has behaved on leaving as he did when at the club in a professional and courteous manner without feeling the need to get involved in personal sniping etc

Good luck to him wherever his new job may be'

It's good to see our old friend Stu acting like a complete bell-end over there. It appears that it was due to Stu's rants that David Luker found it necessary to contact TUI.

I'm not normally one to say 'nonsense' about another poster, but this is nonsense.

David Luker stood out as a bloke who actually bothered to reply to queries and messages, which when you consider some of the crap he must have received was pretty remarkable in itself. In effect he became the public (and human) face of Saints for many.

I cant say I have ever dealt with the bloke but im sure he hands the correct number of tickets over the counter when asked particularly efficiently and am sure you would also get a polite enjoy the game on good days. I have however dealt with the brown haired girl who serves beer in the itchin stand and am pleased to confirm she is an absolute pleasure to work with.

Thank you

I for one am very disappointed that David has left the club. He always had time to speak about various fans issues over the years and was always approachable and charming. Even when the end result wasn't what I had hoped for I always understood his reasons.

He had the chance to move on to bigger and better things during his time at Saints, and for whatever reasons, he ended up staying and I wish him all the very best for the future. He could never satisfy the needs of everyone, but I think he did his best, and bear in mind too, that some of the policies he implemented were not his decisions

Just read TUI forum. Thank god that tedious **** is banned here.

TBF he did get the installment plan thing spot on, a few of us said it was because of people cancelling direct debits and i think i even said i doubt that there was any more than 1500 people that use it.

But nope, Stuey was always right, and if you even had a half decent arguement against him he would ask you to meet up and went on a character destroying mission.

He is an utter tool.

But i don't agree with anyone being banned.

He is one of the few I agree should be banned - not bcaise of the content but because of the volume. He was like a spambot, destroying threads with denial of service overloads.

He derailed every single thread he posted on and, as has been mentioned, often tried to organise meets - which is illegal. He won't be back.

funniest one was when making himself look a fool in thread - so invented the new id to back himself up!

Very thick and annoying - and almost always wrong!

Not missed.

What a load of rubbish. He never "organised meets" he used to threaten to smash peoples faces in who didn't agree with him but that is hardly conspiracy.

SRS also sent me PM's, wanting to meet up or find out personel info about me. All this was just so he could then use it in personel insults. He got very frustrated when i wouldn't give him the time of day, he actually rated himself as clever. laughable!

"Meets" was the best word I could think of to describe it. I certainly didn't mean Football Factory kind of meets - just the kind Delldays is referring to.

With regards to David Luker, last season at the Leeds and Pompey games 50 complimentary tickets were given to high up member of staff at the club who sold them on to anyone, including opposition fans. These tickets were situated in the Itchen just behind the dug out.

I have no idea if it was Luker or someone else in the ticket office, but this was a ridiculous thing to do and I considered writing to the club to ask them if they were happy it was going on.

He was a top guy and a credit to the club. He never failed to answer an email or get one of his team to ring me when I had a query. He will be missed but good luck to him in his new venture.
