Cortese breaks silence

or this season Hudders away and Carlisle away. The whole plan B plan A thing is rubbish Pardew chopped and changed his formations last year we had big debates over 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 on this forum. He made subs that worked and subs that didn't. No different at all to Nigel, some of Nigels subs (sorry impacts) have been late and poor just the same as some of APs were.

From memory one of the biggest complaints on here was AP lack of a gameplan when plan A failed other than resort to hoof it long to Lambert. I remember his tactical master stroke at home to Orient this season when he took off Barnard who at the time was by far the best player on the pitch. Genius. Incedently that was the moment i screamed in discust and decided to withdraw my support to all things AP.

This was what Cortese had to say when responding to comments at the end of last season

One of my early actions was to eradicate the politics that had cast a shadow over Southampton for so long. However, it seems that those same people are trying to continue behind the scenes. I can assure the supporters of Southampton Football Club that I will not be influenced or driven by people who seek to harm the Club in the pursuit of personal agendas - whoever they are.

Again very similar with his latest statement

But Cortese said the reports stemmed from a campaign designed to destabilise the club.

He said: "The club is not for sale. There's always been a group behind the scenes with an agenda that's not good." "This is a deliberate attempt to damage the club at this time because we're in negotiations with players and a very important [potential sponsorship] brand."

We all know where this is coming from, even to the extent of those that come on here to give succour to these rumours. We would be far better served if these muppets went and bestowed their support to Bournemouth.

So if say I'm unhappy about something at the club I'm I not allowed to sound off on here with out being accussed of having an agenda to bring the club to it's knees? While much of that interview is good to hear and welcome. I find the whole shadowy forces working behind the scences to bring down southampton football club all a bit over the top. I love going to watch saints play taking my son down to SMS is the highlight of my week. Having said that if were playing like **** on the pitch or the players look like they don't care I feel I should be able to come on here with the hump and say so. Yet it seems on here that unless you're going to jump up and down and sing in NC we trust constantly your part of some shadowy group out to destory the club.

Both suffer from Lambert Tunnel Vision anyway,NA said he "wasn't afraid to drop Lambert" when he does it I'll believe him.Until we get

a Barnard/Someone else front pair in action the goalscoring will be the remit of the midfield, that will leave them charging forward when they shouldn't be and we'll get caught out from time to time.

FFS I think there's a difference between you (an internet pleb!!) getting pee'd off with the club and disgruntled people who seem to revel in spreading disenguous rumours about the club.

Rumours that are designed to disrupt the business of the club!

I think there's a difference in that when AP was here Barney was fit and firing on all cylinders NOW he's recovering from an injury and is blowing after about 60 mins after running himself into the ground.

Because he is managing an injury. Stated before. Many many times. I guess at the moment he is going to find it hard to sub BOTH RL & LB.

So most likely that was the same with AP at the start of the season then as barney was coming back from injury. People will find any stick to beat the prevoius manger and use the same one to pat Nigel on the back funny old world

You may be one who has the ear of the Sun & other press trash...if this is so then he IS talking to you...if not well you keep on like I keep on enjoying what it is we enjoy about this affliction that is supporting Southampton FC. I certainly don't want to change that.

Its not though is it soon as anyone on here aims anything NCs way they have an agenda.

The poster though claimed it was taking barney off againt Orient this season that was a problem, barney was injuried then I believe.

Fair play to NC very good positive interview said all the right things I havent always agreed with NC but I think he is a man that will get things done.

I like what he has to say the team & NA need to deliver promotion they know what they have to do sounds like we will see some new faces in Jan to bolster the promotion push.

Come on Saints lets win this league !

Not according to Adam Lallana who was surprised how fit and strong he was at pre season due to training over the close season.

I think the fact he menioned about knowing lots of rich people who could fill the liebherrs shoes should they leave was the best thing Ive heard in sometime...

Not really surprising giving his background dealing with the accounts of billionaires. When the day does finally come and the Liebherrs' sell up, I trust Nicola to sell it onto another good owner.

While I am very pleased by this news http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/9269581.stm

What I really want to know is why would anyone want to go out their way to spread rumours to damage our Club in particular? Who are these people? Because I wish to hurt these people back (Joking) Also he still doesnt stay who owns the club. Why can't he just say who now gives us our financial backing? Is he not allowed to say, marcus left some money? Or is it if he says that people will want to knw figures involved? Other than that its all good ;)

Why do you fully trust him

I dont see what he has done to warrant it.

I am just happy to see what happens as I am sure we will be in the top six at the end of the season and possibly a lot higher if we start playing really well

why not...why do we have to "not trust" someone at our club..why do we have to constantly sneer at those in charge..

fully trusting him does not mean he is beyond question..

from "going wilde" to "fans on the board" to "kingons and north london yobbos"....NC talks a fuking good talk and for once, I trust him to (try) deliver

Echo saying Saints have a financial arrangement with the BBC, anyone know what this is?:

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/8726935.Saints_chairman_breaks_silence/?ref=twt

Haha. That sounds like dreadful sour grapes.

Even if it is true (and why not? Saints are a commercial entity operating in a commercial market.....) then the way it has been portrayed there sounds very cheap.

A thoroughly good interview Im even more impressed with him

yes there will be those that are not happy and hanger on every word he says or dosent say.

if he were to answer every question or point raised on this forum it will have to come on a 6 DVD set called 24 series 9 the NC years

I like his comment that he's here for a long time that will give us continuity and stability

and of course hes not going to let us know which players we are tracking or considering. Agents are tossers if you have forgotten

Any a message for janet (Lady saint ) enjoy your evening

I think NC suggests that people are looking to hurt the club just when negotiations are starting to keep certain players here for the long term.

Therefore people with agendas, such as agents, journalists after a "I told you first" scoop etc are out to stir the brown stuff.

Its not just our club by the way. Any club that has money problems, a change in personnel, as in our case the owner passing away, any sign of weakness or damage to strong solid foundatuions are fed on by some like a bunch of bloody locusts.

When he says the club is not for sale his eyes look to the left. When he talks about the Liebherrs commitment his eyes look to the left. When he talks about Markus having no input his eyes look left. When he talks about not wanting to move onto something better he looks left. When he talks about us being on schedule he looks left. When he talks about being in the Prem by 2014 he looks left. When he talks about NA doing great he looks left.

Make of this what you will.

An interesting and reassurring interview.

I'll get slated for drawing a negative, but didn't undertsand why he dodged who's funding the club or who he ultimately reports to. He was given the out of saying the "Estate", but he just ignored it and seemed uncomfortable with the question. Hopefullly that is at the familys request and nothing more.

Looking left when thinking (answering a question) is a sign of lying. That said we really need to know if he's left handed because that would then make it a sign of recollecting a visual image of truth. It's the opposite for left handers.

Lady Saint could you watch how he holds his knife and fork please and report back.

He didn't like the question because he's a dwarf. Little people always try to make up for in power what they lack in height.

I would say its more down and to the left

Down and to the Left: Indicates a Feeling / Kinesthetic / Sensory impression that is being created. If you asked someone to "Can you remember the taste of chocolate?", this would be the direction their eyes moved in while they recalled a smell, feeling, or taste of eating chocolate.

No they weren't, looking at him his eyes rgularly went to the left as we looked AT him, therefore to HIS right. This happened regularly when asked questions:
