doddisalegend Posted 7 December, 2010 Share Posted 7 December, 2010 doddiy...there is not one shred of evidence about all the bad things said about NC (on here) yet that does not stop you wandering My feeling towards NC are pretty middle of the road TBH I have no major feelings about him one way or another. I felt the season ticket issue was badly handled , he had his reasons but communication was poor especially after the fans charter he had put out. I felt underminning the manager in a radio interview was poor form last season. The banning of photographers and the bust up with the media was also a poor desicion. I've made no secret of my feelings about the whole AP issue. On the other hand employing Nigel wasn't a bad desicion. I also liked the 125th shirt idea and the for going of a shirt sponsor. I'm not aware of freaking out about any NC rumours (but feel free to trawl all my past posts looking for some). I do object to the idea that some on here have that NC is above approach if I feel he has ballsed up I'll feel free to say so.

Midfield_General Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 It all makes sense, doesn't it? - Pardew and Ashley both cockney geezers - Ashley falls out with Hughton, wants to bring in his own yes man - Ashley taps up his mate Pardew in the close season - Pardew not getting on NC cortese, jumps at it - They do the deal – Ashley says as soon as Hughton slips up, I’ll come and get you - Ashley starts undermining Hughton – no new contract, fires backroom staff and doesn’t replace, trying to get him to walk, but he won’t - In the meantime Pardew loses interest at Saints, neglects close season, hence rubbish start and unfit players i.e. Lambert - Self-fulfilling prophecy - bad start, Pardew goes - Hughton unfortunately does rather well, gets Newcastle up to 11th, smash Sunderland 5-1, fans like him, players like him, Ashley can’t fire him without looking like a mug until they start losing a few games - Then the first sign of any kind of slump, Ashley takes his chance and fires him - Pardew on first plane to Newcastle before the job’s even been advertised/ interviewed - Pardew appointed 6 months time – Newcastle in turmoil, Pardew fired, Shearer brought in Newcastle relegated. Mr Saints Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 Some people have short memories. I will wish AP all the best in the future, after all he did a good job here transforming a team with zero confidence on -10 into play-off contenders. itchen_dan Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 Let him take Lambert. 2m should be enough to secure Le Fondre and possibly Charlie Austin also. More than capable replacements. Saint Mikey Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 Why would Newcastle want an untried P'ship target man, when they have Carroll who's doing a fantastic job, Amoebi as back-up and even Best who has played at a higher level? Lallana is the one most likely to go. Pardew's personal opinion was that he could play in the P'ship. So if anyone is to go, it would be him (depending whether he wants to or not..). dronskisaint Posted 8 December, 2010 Share Posted 8 December, 2010 Good luck to him..he did a reasonable job for us & gave me & my lad a great day at Wembley. Why though does he need to spend at the barcodes? They have strength in depth & a businessman running the show. Not my favourite person, Mr Ashley, but he's not renowned for spending unnecessarily...particularly on an untried in the PL L1 player. If he really is trying to raise the profile then he'll more likely go for an out of contract established player imho.

Normally you don't have to overcome -10 points and the after effects of relegation (like re-building a decimated and demorilsed first team) first though, simply put he did much better than most would have given him credit for on the first day of the season I reckon. Water under the bridge now still do not feel he deserves the vitrol he recieves from some of our fans becuase he didn't live upto thier frankly unrealistic hopes for last season. Pardew will not come looking for them anyway, far far far too risky. He'll need experienced hands who've proved their worth at the highest level. Won't give any Saints player a thought in his recruitment.Might go for Antonio though, if he's cheap. If he gets the job that is.

Water under the bridge now still do not feel he deserves the vitrol he recieves from some of our fans becuase he didn't live upto thier frankly unrealistic hopes for last season.absolutely spot on. So much rewriting of history. Fans completely overlook the fact he brought in the players that we are regard highly and steared us clear of trouble and then on almost towards the play offs. Yes the money makes the big difference, but Fonte still needed to be persudaded and Pardew had the ability to do that. Yes also we didn't play well in some games, but there weren't too many of those once we got going. His substitutions were almost always spot on. The idea that he didn't have a plan B is ********. He changed games on a regular basis. Leyton Orient away is a prime example. I don't agree with some that we were too narrow or we played a long ball game. We had genuine wide men that cut inside a fair bit and we have a big target man up front, but IMO we mixed it up a lot, passing it wide, long down the middle and everything in between. That is what made us hard to play against, we had all facits of the game in our locker. It matters not, as he has gone and we are relatively happy with Adkins. I have no idea why Ahhsley has replaced Houghton with Pardew, but Pardew can do a job there make no mistake. Best of luck to him.
