VectisSaint Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 I thought we had received everything already for Bale (including a dodgy keeper). But there is article on Beeb today about Bale that suggests otherwise: "He (Bale) cost Tottenham an initial £5m to sign the Welsh international from the Saints in the summer of 2007 - a fee that could rise to £10m." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/9262190.stm Anyone any idea of the conditions still outstanding?
Stud mark of doom Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 They were ridiculous things. He had to score a hat-trick away from home in the Champions league and stuff like that. Never going to happen.
Colinjb Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 I believe we levelled all outstanding conditions for a reduced lump sum when we went into Admin. Anything to keep us afloat.
Andy_Porter Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Was a few months before admin. Tommy Forecast = 10% sell on clause... Nice.
benjii Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 I suspect this is a simple case of the BBC being incorrect. It happens.
benjii Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 "Bale was once more renowned for his hair clip than his devastating, lung-busting performances down the left-flank." See, they don't have a scooby what they're talking about.
moon monkey Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Don't get your hopes up, the journalist failed to do any detailed reporting there. We were to receive extra payments for Bale but due to the financial situation at the time, a final reduced fee was paid in full. And we got forecast, but quite frankly that doesn't seem to have counted as anything.
david in sweden Posted 8 December, 2010 Posted 8 December, 2010 I believe we levelled all outstanding conditions for a reduced lump sum when we went into Admin. Anything to keep us afloat. I read that too Colin, we may end up with... nothing !
Deppo Posted 8 December, 2010 Posted 8 December, 2010 "Bale was once more renowned for his hair clip than his devastating, lung-busting performances down the left-flank." See, they don't have a scooby what they're talking about. Don't use that word or phrase ever again.

LostBoys Posted 8 December, 2010 Posted 8 December, 2010 I think Rupert cashed in the fee to pay the wages one month - not good business but when you cannot pay the wages anything goes - literally
Colinjb Posted 8 December, 2010 Posted 8 December, 2010 I think Rupert cashed in the fee to pay the wages one month - not good business but when you cannot pay the wages anything goes - literally Unless of course you are based 17 miles down the road.
