lambertsrightleg Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Arab consortium in for Saints, had a few texts from mates this morning but being in Exeter i'm fairly out of the loop. Any substance to it?!?!
holepuncture Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 this better be a yule tide joke... as the skates put it so eloquently last year 'you can stick your ****ing arabs up your arse'! Give me NC any day.
doddisalegend Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 You're a wag. Ho ho. why which footballer is the op married to?
John B Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Arab consortium in for Saints, had a few texts from mates this morning but being in Exeter i'm fairly out of the loop. Any substance to it?!?! Of course there is substance just saw a Camel Train passing over Northam Bridge heading for St Mary's
miserableoldgit Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Of course there is substance just saw a Camel Train passing over Northam Bridge heading for St Mary's With three men at the front carrying gold, frankincense and myrrh??
Saint_Jonny Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 If I dress up like an arab and wave some monopoly money around will you lot stop this thread here and now?
Miltonaggro Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 I have it on good authority that a brooding Mickey Fialka has joined forced with Paul Allen and the Krankies! An irresistable force...
oldsarum Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 LOL. I heard it was Russain mafia. If thats correct with their contact at FIFA Saints could be playing in the 2018 World Cup
doddisalegend Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 If thats correct with their contact at FIFA Saints could be playing in the 2018 World Cup Should make winning games at SMS easy too. The visting team can arrive on the team bus, lose and all leave in a new top of the range Merc. and if the vistors actually win you can be sure the team bus will have an accident on the way home.
Northant Saint Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Rumours originate from somewhere... I would not be surprised, Saints being up for sale is entirely feasible in my eyes.
NickG Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 probably no more up for sale than most clubs, and probably less than many.
eelpie Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Arab consortium in for Saints, had a few texts from mates this morning but being in Exeter i'm fairly out of the loop. Any substance to it?!?! From Quatar?
dronskisaint Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 'Rumours originate from somewhere...' Blinding!!!!
saint_stevo Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 his name is Sheikh it-likea-polaroidpicture He is minted
RedAndWhite91 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Apparently Cortese has told staff at the club that there is no truth in the rumour that we are up for sale.
dune Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Apparently Cortese has told staff at the club that there is no truth in the rumour that we are up for sale. Sadly many of us cannot take what nicola says at face value.
St_Tel49 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 With three men at the front carrying gold, frankincense and myrrh?? They are a bit early aren't they?
buctootim Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Sadly many of us cannot take what nicola says at face value. Who to believe? NC or Dune. Ooh so tricky.
alehouseboys Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 The Daily Echo are gonna lurrrrrve this...
RedAndWhite91 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Who to believe? NC or Dune. Ooh so tricky. Hmm, well, Cortese hasn't quoted the Daily Mail/Express in slamming these rumours, whereas whatever Dune says can always be backed up by these highly respected newspapers, so, I'm with dune on this one.
Rut Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Arabs? Interesting. I was wearing a Saints shirt the other day and got chatting to this city-type bloke in a local bar. He'd had a few and swore blind to me that a consortium from up in Chicago are monitoring a lot of English football (he obviously said 'soccer' here) clubs. Since the death of ML this has included Southampton. The Liebherr Group are a well know company in the USA and his death did get the odd line or 2 in the business press. It wouldn't mean jack sh#t to me - it's not as if Saints are gonna start playing in Chicago - but having American owners would increase the interest in them over here. Bring it on I say. I'd love to see some American being interviewed as Saints owner. You lot would be going bright purple as soon as he said something like 'we need to get some more offensive plays in'.

True. I'm pretty sure Churchill must have said something on the subject also.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 True. I'm pretty sure Churchill must have said something on the subject also. Well, we all know Churchill didn't trust those Italians as Mussolini sided with the Nazis. Cortese OUT!
St_Tel49 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Rumours originate from somewhere.... In this case I suspect a pub somewhere in Skatesville. Does it occur to you that most "rumours" are just made up to wind up some target group or other. How many rumours reported on here have actually come to pass?

Since the death of ML this has included Southampton. . A while ago I was in a bar in London with a mate dressed as a city type. He'd had a few. We got chatting to the girl who had been singing on stage. He told her I worked for a promoter who needed a support act just like her for a major European tour. She fell for it too.

I cannot say that American owners have covered themselves in glory so far. Their track record has varied from mediocre (Villa) to abysmal (Liverpool) when not ripping off supporters (United).
miserableoldgit Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 They are a bit early aren't they? It`s a long journey from SMS to Bethlehem.
dune Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Well, we all know Churchill didn't trust those Italians as Mussolini sided with the Nazis. Cortese OUT! TBF Cortese is more Bruno Tonioli than Benito Mussolini.
St_Tel49 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 It`s a long journey from SMS to Bethlehem. And I assume that the star they are following is Lallana
miserableoldgit Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 True. I'm pretty sure Churchill must have said something on the subject also. Ooohh Yess
buctootim Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 TBF Cortese is more Bruno Tonioli than Benito Mussolini. Rehashing Leftback's jokes. Go you
dune Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Who to believe? NC or Dune. Ooh so tricky. Silence Timothy.
dubai_phil Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Well. it ain't me. I'm too busy stalking Lady Golfers again this week, so that leaves Eric. No wonder he didn't have any OSH left in stock when his kids csame over, he's cut back to 4 crates a month so he can buy us. OK I joke. It's the Qataris. They read the forum avidly and saw how keen we were to become a WC stadium for England's failed bid. They then saw NC wants to move to a new stadium, they need some for 2022 and bingo, there it is, simples
paris Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Just seen some rich onion sellers boarding a flight to Soton ......lol
RedAndWhite91 Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 TBF Cortese is more Bruno Tonioli than Benito Mussolini. Some on here will have you believe Cortese is a fascist dictator ruling the club with an iron fist. More to the point though, will we get a train station outside SMS, and will the trains run on time?
Ken Tone Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 True. I'm pretty sure Churchill must have said something on the subject also. Before or after he was a liberal?
Ken Tone Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 True. I'm pretty sure Churchill must have said something on the subject also. On second thoughts I see now that this was clearly a guarded reference to the Churchill Insurance group planning a takeover. You heard it here first. As one poster said so sagely, rumours start somewhere. We've just started this one. How long before it is on the Echo or the Sun?
DS Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 I'm hoping Mandaric sells Sheff Weds sharpish and gets involved- we've already got a statue for him in storage. It was meant to be.
alpine_saint Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Jeez, if we got taken over by Russians or Arabs, I expect to see the likes of SOGGY pleading for the good 'ole days of NC....
