Laptop won't turn off

My wifes 3 month old Acer laptop won't turn off, the screen is totally blank and operating any

keys has no effect either. Plugging the mains power in and the orange charging light lights up.

Should I try taking the battery out, IF I can find it, or is it best to just take it back to the shop ?

if you hold the power button down for 6-7 seconds it will turn off. All technology has a habit of being a bit funny from time to time, so I wouldn't worry about it unless it does it again or starts doing other peculiar things.

There seems to be a spate of laptop problems recently. I know a few people aho've had a whole range of probs too.

 

Seriously, I think this site is a godsend. A sincere thanks to all the forum geeks (and I mean that in an affectionate way).

Funny you should say that.....i have 4 laptops lined up around my flat currently to have different things fixed! From viruses to dead hard-drives to 'slowness' it does seem that laptops do not enjoy the snow!

stevoh. If I were a cynical sort I might wonder if Bill Gangsta Gates hadn;t sent out a super worm to destroy the world's laptops thus increasing sales of his latest gadget, the massively overpriced i-pad.

 

Whilst on the subject, I have two laptops here (donations) that I'd like to have cleaned etc so that I can redistribute them to deserving clients. If interested in having a look and giving a fair quote, I'd willingly give you first refusal mate. Just say the word.
