The club needs to issue a statement (if the story is untrue) denying they are looking to sell the club. They owe us that after all the nonsense/worry we've had to put up with over the last few years.

 

 

 

NC has issued a statement (to staff) that there is not an ounce of truth in this.

The fact is that NC decided aroud 3 months later to sack him for whatever his reasons where at the time. How long after a statement that he isn going to be sacking him is it ok to go an sack him without being called a liar? 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 1 decade?

 

NC doesnt strike me as a man that will dawdle over a decision for 2/3 months, more so a man that will identify a problem and deal with it quickly, concisely and without semtiment.

You're entitled to your view. I don't share it though. Pardew was a dead man walking long before he was sacked. I think sacking AP was the right decision btw.

Whilst I'm a normal fan and not associated with the club in any way other than as a fan who goes to games, that is a dangerous statement to make without back-up and you have not provided any whatsoever. We also don't have any proof that NC has contacted staff telling them this is untrue and the club has been in dispute with this "newspaper". I don't want to get involved in the whole pro/anti NC thing as I'm a Saints fan, not any individual, but can you provide any example of where he has lied? I didn't agree with some of his actions including the ST installment removal and lack of notice but generally he has proved to be fairly savvy. The club may well be up for sale but my friendly advice to you as a fellow fan would be to take care in your use of language so that you protect yourself and the forum.

Would put money on us having new owners in next 12 to 18 months months. To me it is a no brainer. If I was Cortese the fun would have gone out of the project with the very sad passing of M.L. He will be hear now out of loyalty, i suspect more than what is in it for himself. I would also feel confident that he will be selective in who he sells the club too.

he didn't say he will not be sacked if we start season badly / incident happens etc in few months time.

 

he wasn't lying - if he was intending to sack him when statement was issued he would have preferred the timing and done so.

When you think about it speculation that the club will eventually be put up for sale is entirely plausible, indeed I'd be mildly surprised if ownership of the club hadn't passed into somebody else's hands within the next few years.

 

This club is obviously going to require a substantial and ongoing level of investment if ML's dream of returning it to its former glories is to be relised, if our current owner (ML's daughter presumably) heart really isn't in it (and why should it be?) then she better start looking for a good buyer and let them get on with it.

 

I'm quite confident there would be a number of interested parties.

I really like NC and am very very happy with how the club has been run esp if we get the upgrade of the academy.

 

BUT if there was any change at all hopefully with a bit of money behind them I hope they don't ever put the club in dept and also would actually love MLT to have a significant role like sunderland with Quinn.

Let me add a ray of sunshine for a moment on this otherwise very bleak story. Marcus Liebherr's legacy for to NC and the club may have amounted to a few million or a few tens of million quid but a finite and limited amount of money so to drive on into te premier League, NC already realises we will need a minimum of £50-100m. The shortfall isn't going to come from gate receipts unless the stadium is enlarged...

 

Perhaps, NC is in the market for more investors to come on board and be partners in the venture. If the total value of the assets plus the legacy under NC's control was (say) £50m maybe he could expand the sharebase to allow investments of up to £49m and still retain control so that the Club ends up with a fighting fund of around £100m...

 

Hence the Sun rumour could have been true in part and NC's alleged comments to staff would not be untrue - that part of the club is for sale but not the whole club and he NC would still retain control?

 

Not the man U or Chelsea style of single family ownership but the Arsenal style collective ownership of like minded people?

 

Discuss.. my further contribution to get off the whingeing old codger step and give all you suicidal types a reason for not jumping!

It was rumoured in the press they were being sold and the company then sent an email denouncing the story to the staff (apparently).

 

A few months later the company is sold - to the very other company detailed in the original story.
