It wouldn't be worth any less if the club aren't promoted, so might as well sit tight and enjoy the ride for a while seeing what happens without investing any more cash if they aren't happy.

nope, sell the assets NOW and then sell the rest a bit later on will make more than the difference between a L1 team and a Championship team.If it cost another 3 or 4 million in investment to get to the NPC it's not worth the trouble. We could probably get

more than the Liebherrs paid for the outfit by selling a few "stars" now.Why should they wait if they're determined to sell..which they probably aren't.

We have no idea of the family or the club's financial status right now. We have no idea of the family's motives towards the club only Markus's. Who's to say they don't want to be shot of a business that's bleeding money right now as opposed to sit and hope our value increases in the Championship.

I doubt this is true especially just days after resubmitting plans for the training ground, and even if it is, Saints are an even more attractive investment proposition now than 18 months ago when Liebherr brought the club. The club would just be sold onto another extremely rich owner.

based on what? football clubs are in the main poor investments. We've already had our sugar daddy I can't see their being loads more all waiting to buy saints in the current climate. Markus got us at a knock down price we won't be cheap now as the owners will want their money back plus some extra. If someone wants to buy a lower league club there are plenty of cheaper options than us. I mean look how long it took to to get someone interested in sheff wednesday and then they ended up with Mandric.

Maybe the saints trust will raise the money for a fans buy out..................

Sheff Weds were riddled with debt, old stadium, I don't think they own the training ground etc etc

Saints have a large fanbase, modern stadium, training ground development, a strong squad for the league, Jackson's farm and importantly no debt. It is therefore very attractive to investors. There are still plenty of extremely wealthy people looking for football clubs, just the type of opportunity they are looking for rarely comes up. Very few English clubs have to offer what Saints do in terms of infrastructure, fanbase and potential. The day the Liebherr's do sell up, they certainly won't be short of interest from abroad from extremely wealthy people.

Well that depends on what the asking price is.

As for lots of people that want to buy football clubs....... It might be time to lay off the drugs.

and far more expensive. Depends what investors are looking for I suppose. I don't think ML would have bought us today the attraction was the knock down price and chance to make a lot of money back later. A club in our postion will be a lot more expensive which will cut into the money you make back when it's sold on for a profit at a later date.

Can someone write it out, word for word please?

Nicola Clotese, the man behind the rip-off ticket tax, is understood to have been instructed to sell Southampton Football club by Hilda Liebherr, daughter of the late owner. Sources close to the club tell The Sun that interest has already been expressed by local businessmen.

I thought Katharina was in charge now.

I see the first consortium meeting has already convened....

I just remember I rang him up at home to ask him about his posts.

I was off my head at the time so it was quite funny. His missus answered and I asked to speak to tommac from TSF and he denied everything.

Those were the days.

My house is not currently on the market but if someone came in and offered me 10% more than I thought it worth I would sell it.

My take from talking to people closer to the club than I that this is the case now and has been since September. Certainly influential people in the City have been made aware of it.

Word has been put around that the Liebherr's would be prepared to sell if the money was right.

What frightens me is this is a green light for all the idiot tyre kickers (Fulthorpe, Pinnacle, Help Me Rhonda etc) to come out of the woodwork - after all with no debt we are a good buy.

At least we can have confidence in NC quickly sorting out the genuine buyers if indeed any exist.

Marcus's premature and sad death was probably the biggest blow this club has suffered to its well being since relegation from the Prem.

I still maintain all along we should have been prepared for this and started some sort of partial ownership initiative if only to stop the club falling into the wrong hands. I am sure the Liebherr family would have looked kindly on some sort of fan buy out. Not saying it works or is ideal but I would rather have the club part owned by the fans than by the likes of people like Risdale or mandaric.

No, it's his other daughter.

Is Hilda the one who comes to matches with her hair in rollers, covered with an SFC headsquare, and a cigarette dangling out one corner of her mouth ?

If so,I believe you.

Not this time. Unlike before we don't have people with shares in SLH looking to manipulate the market. That is all the crap was about last time.

We know that Katharina and the family knew how much Saints meant to Markus and that he felt he had a duty to provide Southampton with a legacy where Saints are concerned. Therefore I am confident that they will continue to see out his wishes, if only to see out the five year plan. Let's not also forget that Saints were the beneficiaries of a proportion of Markus's personal wealth due to the arrangements he made before his passing, which probably means that they don't even have to worry about financing the plan, so the only real reason to sell woud be if they do not have the time necessary to devote to the club amongst running the Mali group.

This doesn't really make much sense either as Cortese is running the club on a daily basis for them, so the amount of time they need to invest is minimal, add to this the attendance of various Liebherr family members at our home games and also that you can regularly see Markus's girls sat in the directors box at our home games, so on this basis I don't see there being any truth in this rumour, just like the last one in the summer when there was a claim that Markus had put Saints up for sale as a result of his fallout with Pardew and disappointment of us not reaching the play offs last season.

Are you insinuating that the Liebherr family are skint? I highly doubt it.

If they're still using that pathetic "Clotese" nickname then I don't believe anything they print about us.

I can now see why they made you a mod. It takes a certain astuteness that many aspire to but few achieve. There's no flies on you.

I think it’s time we need investment, the likes of which no single entity can provide…

We need the Magnificent Seven to step forward!

Fulthorpe / Lowe / Wilde / Help me Rhonda / Tommac / Marc Jackson / Mickey Fialka.

Only then will I be happy.

Imagine that. It'd be like the egg heads playing in the local pub league.

Come on,no serious investment is complete without Barry the Briefcase.

Sorry to interrupt all the 'funny' red herrings, but has anyone got a clear family tree for Markus's branch of the family?

Is Katharina his only child, or is there also a son as I read somewhere once?

Are we owned by any particular individual member of the family, or by the Mali group?

Is the show-jumper Christina (?) related?

Are any Leibherrs actually definitely attending games regularly? If so, who?

Trying to get a clear picture in my mind of who in the family matters, and who in the family cares about Saints.

Someone wants to aquire them.

The business has been failing for a while, but they manage some reasonable assets, so someones about to do a Gordan Gecko on them them, buy the business and, ditch the dross.

You'd be thinking of Herman. As far as i'm aware he's on a gap year and is currently trekking in the Belgian Congo.

I'm not so sure about that Gemmel. Since the rise on the back of the announcement there has been litte speculation on them. Slight dip by .5p today. We'll know for sure whether Rupert has had them round for Saint Agur and Port by the end of the week if normal service is resumed and the SP is back down sub 50.

just imagine that someone bought debt free saints and mortgaged the club to the eye balls in getting us..

meaning no more lambert type of signings and lallanas would need to be sold..

a mini man u if you like

The Man Utd of the South. I like the sound of that.
