They've done better than expected in Europe (although take a look at the Bundesliga and Serie A tables to see that neither Inter or Bremen have been anywhere near their best this season), but haven't been anything special in the league so far, IMO. Pretty average away from home, the second half against Arsenal aside.

If Redknapp got the England job, I'd emigrate.

Fortunately, it won't ever come to that as they won't give him the job in a month of Sundays. An England manager who's popular with the press? It just wouldn't work, which would mean the press might turn against him and do a little bit of digging...

i put him up there with venables, good club manager, sorry an OK club manager, who will get a chance and feck up for one reason or another. not necessarily his fault as we dont have the world beaters the press wants and thinks we have

LOL

I remember Redknapp saying 5-6 years ago he'd never manage England in a million years because of the amount of pressure and the media spotlight.

Now that he's worked out what the England manager's job actually entails he's very interested in er hopping on.

If someone offered me £5 million a year just to say 'yes' continually to them for 4-5 years I'd be very interested as well

I did say this to a cousin at the start of the season, he said to me they should not concentrate on Champions league and should instead ensure they are up in the top 4 again next year.

I told him to behave and realise that they may not be in CL again for a little while, what with the normal big four and also Man City getting in on the act.

IMO they couldn't have both and it would have taken a miracle to repeat the feats of last season back2back.

He is still a very good manager and will probably do a superb job for england, unfortunately as much as i hate the bloke i would happily have him as our national manager.

Like him or not he's also spot on about the reasons behind the lack of talented English youngsters coming through at the moment.

They get paid too much, too early and don't put the hard work in.

He is one of the best man-to-man managers around, and the reasons why he failed here? Because he didn't want to be here

He has done an amazing job this season. Last season I thought he had just done par for the course, as expected but he's really kick on this season.

Makes you wonder why it all went so wrong with us.

It went wrong because he never wanted to be at saints and just could not be bothered with us, he stated in an interview he realised he had made a huge mistake on the day of his press conference unveiling him as our manager. The saggy faced **** should have had the balls to stand down there and then and allow someone who´s heart was in it to try and keep us up. Unforgivable

I detest the old ****

From an interview with Rafael Van Der Vaart:

The former Real Madrid star claims life at the Bernabeu under Mourinho was 'boring'. But he says Redknapp's laid-back approach at White Hart Lane makes his new boss very special.

Van der Vaart, 27, insists he has rediscovered not just his form at Tottenham but also his love for the game.

The Dutch playmaker said: "Harry is a very special man, that's why I already feel at home at Spurs. It feels like I'm back on the street.

"There are no long and boring speeches about tactics, like I was used to at Real Madrid. There is a clipboard in our dressing room but Harry doesn't write anything on it! It's very relaxed. The gaffer gives us the line-up 20 minutes before we go out to do our warm-up."

"And the only words he speaks to me are 'You play left or right, work hard, have fun and show the fans your best. Then the defenders get an instruction about who to mark at corners and free-kicks - and that's it."

The Dutch Master, who has hit seven goals already this season, says training at Tottenham is equally low-key.

He added: "It's not that we do nothing - but it's close to that. For instance, last weekend Gareth Bale scored a header against Blackburn from my corner. But we didn't train one minute on it, it was pure luck. Good kicking, good heading, nothing more. And our win at home over Champions League winners Inter Milan was a clear example of playing on intuition. You can't train the goal I scored in that game.

"Of course the players need to have the qualities to end in the good position and the gaffer has to select the best squad. But in the end, it's all about feeling and that's what I have right now at Spurs. I try to give the best assist possible and guys like Bale try to score a goal out of it. That's our tactic!"

Could explain a lot.
