1960 : Derek Reeves scored all 5, Saints beating Leeds 5-4 at The Dell in the League Cup.Game disrupted twice by floodlight failure, I am sure I read somewhere that this was the longest a match had ever taken to play,as it was over 3 hours when it finished.

1981 : 3-2 v Man Utd., with that great KK overhead that was disallowed.

Thanks Deppo, and Manji . I was at the 1981 game but was hoping one of our more seasoned followers might give a personal recollection of the 1960 match. Your contributions though are similarly valued.

Yes Badger, I'm seasoned and I was there and another speciall feature was that our goaly (think it was Ron Reynolds) was carried off in the days before substitutes and Cliff Huxford had to go in goal, we led 4-0 at the time but Leeds made it 4-4 with a penalty close to full time but Reeves won it with almost the last kick of the match with his fifth goal at about 10.30pm!

He scored 4 against Swindon in October 1959 the first game my dad took me to.

It's also worth mentioning that the person marking Reeves that night was Jack Charlton!

I was there and seem to recall that Terry Paine had a hand in all five goals and Huxford nearly saved the penalty.
