farawaysaint Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 As in the title our young midfield star is being monitored apparently. http://www.ashburtongrove.co.uk/2010/12/vermaelen-given-chelsea-return-date-8.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+AshburtonGrove+%28AshburtonGrove.co.uk%29
waggy Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 typical red top "shock horror, football scout watches talented youngster"
Mowgli Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 I hope Oxo notes Walcott's development. Wenger took him to 'protect him' but he ended up spending far too much time on the training ground initially and was then over-exposed and injured. All Wenger has done is create an injury prone player - he was world class before he bought him so can take no credit for that.
SuperSAINT Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Because they've done such a brilliant job with Theo......
Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Because they've done such a brilliant job with Theo...... yeah....going to world cup..scoring a hattrick for england, playing and scoring in the champions league, premier league and cup finals. yeah, theo is ****
hackedoff Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 No surprise he is being watched, no surprise when he shortly moves on. Would struggle to keep good young British players if we were in the Prem. Third division no chance .
Turkish Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 yeah....going to world cup..scoring a hattrick for england, playing and scoring in the champions league, premier league and cup finals. yeah, theo is **** Chamberlain is much better at the same age.
Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Chamberlain is much better at the same age. maybe but theo was standing out against better players...
farawaysaint Posted 5 December, 2010 Author Posted 5 December, 2010 No surprise he is being watched, no surprise when he shortly moves on. Would struggle to keep good young British players if we were in the Prem. Third division no chance . Sad but true, I'd like tot hink he'll stay for a couple of years at least. Younger players often seem to be staying with their parent clubs for a couple years longer to help their development these days.
Turkish Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 maybe but theo was standing out against better players... You haven't got a clue what you are talking about Jamie. Theo scored one good goal in his time here, against Luton and got his big move to Arsenal, he was massively over rated, only did it for half a season, the media got him his move. Just look where Luton are now which tells you all you need to know about the standard of the CCC when Theo was playing. Whereas Oxos performance and goals against Dagenham and Redbridge was world class.

Turkish Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 so he never scored against leeds, millwall, stoke then..? One good goal i said, the others were easy, a 5 year old could have tucked those away. Plus Leeds & Millwall were relegated not long after so he may have well have been against League One teams. Oxo would have scored 5 a game if he had been playing, he is the best young player since Maradona.
farawaysaint Posted 5 December, 2010 Author Posted 5 December, 2010 so he never scored against leeds, millwall, stoke then..? Turkish I do believe was taking the **** Delldays Regardless who gives a monkeys about Theo, Ox is his own player who I personally don't want to see move on.
del boy Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Theo has never been 'world class'. but he can run across water without disturbing the surface

Turkish Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 **** you..and **** this place Dont be like that. Just think how good Oxo will be when he is lining up in front of Wayne Bridge with Keane and Balloteli to put crosses in for. You will see he is the new Johan Cruyff when he isn't crossing for L1 journeymen like RL.
MarkSFC Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Very very few players if any at the age of 16/17/18 who look fantastic and get a "big club" move at that age go straight into the squad let alone the team and accelerate their development and or reach their potential that quickly. Look at Bale, Walcott, as recent Saints. Of course in bias but OXO is in the best place for his development (just as Lallana is) because he's at a team that has as much potential as they do to go all the way to the Prem and at a good pace. Staying here, learning his trade, winning games, winning leagues must be better than training for the next two-three years and getting a few league cup games under his belt. What's the phrase....."don't run before you can walk".

If we dont go up this season, he'll be gone and rightly so. I dont see any value in him going in January. Wolves will probably go down and only a handful of Championship clubs are in a better place than us financially, no point leaving for 5 months PL football and a relegation or go to an average NPC club who we will probably finish above if we go up this season. He would be best sitting tight until he knows what league we will be in next season and deciding from there where his futures lies. WIth us if we go up, away from here if we dont.
tonibell Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 I dont think they would get a bargin like when we had Lowe in charge. Hope and think that we are past them days for letting are younger players go cheap

He left us at the right time, there's now way he'd be that good if he stayed here and spent a year working with the dutch clowns ....
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Bale has been the best player of recent times to leave saints, but you could see he had it from the very very start IMO. Walcott was another top top young player and to top it off he has so much pace to burn, is Ox as good as Walcott was at his age ? I don't know really, some times i think so some times i don't, IMO i think Ox has a better brain then Walcott has at his age but doesn't have the same pace to burn and you have to remember he is playing against lesser opposition in league 1. Still, i don't really want to be losing any of our young gems unless we have to any more.
Lighthouse Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Wouldn't be surprised if Oxo was being watched, but he hasn't set League 1 on fire yet. Can't really see Arsenal bidding for him on anything he's done this season.

Window Cleaner Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Sounds like agent talk to me, it's a "come and get him fellas" advert.
Bensfcno1 Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 HAHAHAHAHAH! Turkish that is the funniest thing ive ever heared on hear! 'Performance and goals against Dagenham & Redbridge was world class' HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
JackanorySFC Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 The saints rose tinted specs out in force again, Turkish is clearly taking the p155 but the others sucked in crack me up. Anyone who rates the oxo kid at 50% of Theo's level at the same age are actually mental. Theo was the best kid for his age group in Europe, broke Rooney's records for age and goal scoring at U16 and U18 England level and was genuinely wanted by Real, Barca, Man U and Arsenal. He is now an important player the best footballing team in England by a distance, scored a hat trick in the best individual England performance by one player in a competitive game since Beckham vs Greece, scored in a cup final, scored a winner in a champs league semi final, a wonder run vs Liverpool which if Arsenal had held on in injury time would be hailed - oh, and he scared the s*** out of Barcelona (the best group of players since Brazil '70 imo) last season. Ask Guardiola of he rates Wallcott? If oxo kid can achieve that before he's 22 I'll by a season ticket at Fratton!
dune Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 IMO Wenger hasn't do a very good job with Theo Walcott and he hasn't progressed as a player of his calibre should have. I think it would be bad more for Chamberlain to leave at this stage in terms of his playing career, but it's all about money now with so many players so I doubt this will be the overiding consideration.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 I haven't forgiven them for poaching Ted Drake yet!
docker-p Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 I haven't forgiven them for poaching Ted Drake yet! They did ?? I was wondering why he never gets a game for us anymore.
SuperMikey Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Ox is better than this? Pfft. Yes, I think he is actually...

saintscottofthenortham Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Yes, I think he is actually... May I ask if you ever saw Theo in the flesh? If yes, may I then ask were you above the age of 5 during any of those times?
Stu Man Do Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 I dont think they would get a bargin like when we had Lowe in charge. Hope and think that we are past them days for letting are younger players go cheap 12million (and yes I am aware we were paid off early) for a 16 year old is a bargain? I think Lowe actually got as good a deal as we could have hoped for at the time Theo was always going to go once Chelsea and Arsenal started knocking on the door!
doddisalegend Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 I'd be suprised if we keep any of our talent if PL clubs come calling for them, we aren't in a postion to stop it (have we ever been?) the only plus side is it's now generally excepted we're not stuggling for money so hopefully we can hold out for a good price (although Oxo is young enough we will only get some poxy amount from tribunal no doubt). Lallana will be gone by the summer I'm pretty sure and oxo will be gone if Arsenel are really interested. All we can do in turn is screw over league one and two teams for their talent in turn just like we did with Dickson.
aintforever Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Walcott has not fulfilled his potential, would have been better off with a season or two more at Siants before being stuck in Arsenal reserves. Might have even made the plane to the last World Cup if he had IMO, instead we had one of England's most talented players sat at home watching the World Cup on TV.
RedArmy Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 would have been better off with a season or two more at Siants before being stuck in Arsenal reserves. Given the choice between first team football in the Championship or training daily with the tail-end of one the best sides English football has seen. I know what I'd choose.
SuperMikey Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 May I ask if you ever saw Theo in the flesh? If yes, may I then ask were you above the age of 5 during any of those times? I didn't see him play for Saints, but I have seen him play for Arsenal a few times, including once in the season when he transferred from us. Oxo has played a lot better for us than Theo in that clip. He ran the game against Dagenham (who were, admittedly, a poor team) and scored two very good goals. I think, aside from Lallana and Barnard, Oxo has been our best player this season. It's harder to be a 16 year old 5'9 winger in L1 than it is in the Championship imo, because of the lower quality of defending and higher risk of injury.
Lighthouse Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Given the choice between first team football in the Championship or training daily with the tail-end of one the best sides English football has seen. Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Which worked wonders for Eric Djemba-Djemba. Im sorry, but to say it's easier playing against better players is nonsense. Oxo looks class but Theo was outstanding at a younger age and higher level than him. I think many Saints fans forget the utter garbage we play against week in week out in League 1.

And of course that was Theos debut, if you showed a clip of Chamberlains debut it would have shown him missing and open goal from 5 yards, so going just bythis on their debuts Theo is a billion times better. Lighthouse Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 you can cherry pick anyone you like...djemba what ever he is..was crap... you will find that the best younger players dont get sent away to NPC teams... Lampard went on loan to Swansea Beckham went to Preston Rio Ferdinand went to Bompey So did Jermain Defoe John Terry went to Notts Forest Ashley Cole went to Palace Crouch played a couple of seasons at Pompey and QPR Aaron Lennon was at Leeds Milner went to Swindon. Then there are all the players like Bale who started off at smaller clubs before making it big. Very few players walk straight into a top level Premier League sides. Even Rooney was 'super sub' for a struggling Everton team.
wild-saint Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Chamberlains dad is his agent and is already talking to the very top clubs in the premier league. There is talk (from his dad) About selling him to a top club and loaning him back. Whether saints agree to that is another matter of course. His dad is defo courting the big 5 clubs at the moment so unlike lallan there seems to be no longer term plan to develop his career here
Singeon Sears Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Lol, all chamberlain will see is a famous England regular who has scored goals in the champions league a cup final and big premier league games, trained with world class players and earned a fortune. Where did this ridiculous myth about walcott not achieving much there start? He's come on hugely. Whether he would have here we can't know. and as of late sits on the bench every week. Achieved much - absolutely. Come on hugely - Not for me, in terms of ability, I see the same player that left us
