Flyer Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 He's not worth that much and shouldn't get it, even if he stays in the prem. I agree, the only place he should get that is somewhere like Russia, Turkey or Ukraine. But I always think no one should do it yet someone will pay him that, maybe WHU.
Jesus Reigned Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 I'd love to see Robbie here. Fingers crossed - stranger things have happened! Such as? KK. Even the possibility of Alan Ball at one stage would have seemed too far fetched. Exactly Badger! KK was one, David Hirst was another. I think someone has already mentioned Speedie and Dixon (although that didn't turn out as well as the others) The slight difference being that we weren't in the third tier of English football at the time!
Badger Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Fair and valid point, but the prospect of Ball dropping into the old Division 2 was considered most unlikely. As for KK, that simply did not register on anyones radar or expectancy, and KK was then - and still is in my view -simply light years away from Keane in terms of his stature within the game across Europe. Do I expect us to sign or even try to sign Robbie Keane ? No of course I don't. The signing of KK was a far more outrageous coup for us than Keane who has never fulfilled the early hype of his career.
Deppo Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 The slight difference being that we weren't in the third tier of English football at the time! No, but Robbie Keane is not as big a name as David Hirst, so he is comparable. Hirst was a huge name and player for us in the Prem, and now Keane is of a similar standing to that now we are L1. So let's not rule anything out just yet! Like I say, stranger things have happened (and not always to us - do you remember Tevez and Maskarano playing for West Ham not so long back? Or Socrates playing for Garford Town?)

sambosa75 Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Ronaldo looks to be having a hard time at Madrid as well. A bit of a ponce I know but could be a good long term replacement for lambert or at least cover until he gets his form back. I'm not interested unless he's got a long throw-in like Rory Delap.

Badger Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 If only Simon Clifford was still here. As for "stranger things have happened", Simon Clifford and a World Cup winning rugby coach must be pretty high up on the list.
