doughnutman Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Nope. If Torres wouldn't be able to cut it in this league then neither would Robbie
skintsaint Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 nah, sure we could tempt Pavlachenko though?
sotonjoe Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 No, proven PL strikers just turned 30 definitely couldn't cut it in the 3rd Div.
benjii Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 You must be joking right?! League One defenders would make him look like a clown. Although they are much worse than Premier League defenders they still would!!! Jeeeeezz!!!!!
Cestrian Saint Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Always rated Robbie Keane. I believe he was one of the players on Strachan's shopping list. The same shopping list that forced Strachan to resign as Rupert refused to spend the money on any of the players he wanted. Koumas and Konchesky wre also on the list at the time. He's a great player. A real work horse who will always get goals. He'd never come here as there would be a host of Premiership clubs just waiting to snap him up.
Minsk Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Lescott wants away from Citeh too. We should go for them both.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Ronaldo looks to be having a hard time at Madrid as well. A bit of a ponce I know but could be a good long term replacement for lambert or at least cover until he gets his form back.
gaz Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 The lowest RK would go is Everton/Birmingham/Villa etc, not League 1.
Seaside Saint 2 Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Apparently he's linked with Vancouver Whitecaps, surely we're a better offer than that? He'll probably go to a Championship club if he does stay in England, or head back up to Celtic.
Deppo Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 I'd love to see Robbie here. Fingers crossed - stranger things have happened!
Jesus Reigned Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 I'd love to see Robbie here. Fingers crossed - stranger things have happened! Such as?
Turkish Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Lescott wants away from Citeh too. We should go for them both. And Balotelli, he is not happy at City and his bust up in training will only quicken his exit. Go get 'em all Nicola!
Badger Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Apparently he's linked with Vancouver Whitecaps, surely we're a better offer than that? He'll probably go to a Championship club if he does stay in England, or head back up to Celtic. Sentimental return to Wolves is more likely.
Flyer Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Apparently he's linked with Vancouver Whitecaps, surely we're a better offer than that? He'll probably go to a Championship club if he does stay in England, or head back up to Celtic. What NPC club is going to pay him 70-80k a week?
Turkish Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 What NPC club is going to pay him 70-80k a week? we could, we can pay anyone whatever we want.
Cestrian Saint Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Here's a thought. Utd release Owen and Fergie makes a move for Keane. You may laugh, but who thought he'd snap up Owen? The Keane / Berbatov partnership was superb and Fergie does seem to have a knack for getting the most out of players who are nearing the end of their career.
Flyer Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 we could, we can pay anyone whatever we want. Your owner said the club was going to be run normally and Keane wouldnt drop to a L1 side anyway.
Lighthouse Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Is he good enough to keep Owen and Benjani out the side though?
sfcuk fan Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Your owner said the club was going to be run normally and Keane wouldnt drop to a L1 side anyway. I fear you overlooked the sarcasm in his post :-/ .
david in sweden Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 No, proven PL strikers just turned 30 definitely couldn't cut it in the 3rd Div. Quite right Joe, remember our sojourn with Mark Hughes all those years ago !
scotty Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Quite right Joe, remember our sojourn with Mark Hughes all those years ago ! ...or rather, dont.
Flyer Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 I fear you overlooked the sarcasm in his post :-/ . Its hard to tell when there are really people that think that on here. You just have to look at some of the players people think Saints could sign.
Deppo Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Such as? We have signed big names in the past. Names that amazed people, that really took the footballing world by surprise. It could happen again. don't forget, we have some special people and spirits looking after us.
Badger Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Quite right Joe, remember our sojourn with Mark Hughes all those years ago ! ...or rather, dont. and better still, Dixon and Speedie.
benjii Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Your owner said the club was going to be run normally and Keane wouldnt drop to a L1 side anyway. wotevaz!!11
Saint Fan CaM Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Such as? Such as that bit in the ET movie when all the bikes took off and flew across the moon.
scotty Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 and better still, Dixon and Speedie. They were a bargain, and we got shot of that hopeless tw*t Shearer in the same deal. Result!!
Badger Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 I'd love to see Robbie here. Fingers crossed - stranger things have happened! Such as? KK. Even the possibility of Alan Ball at one stage would have seemed too far fetched.
Deppo Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 KK. Even the possibility of Alan Ball at one stage would have seemed too far fetched. Exactly Badger! KK was one, David Hirst was another. I think someone has already mentioned Speedie and Dixon (although that didn't turn out as well as the others)
SO16_Saint Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 As soon as I heard he was leaving in January I wondered how long it would be until a HCDAJFU thread.
Thedelldays Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 i was gobsmacked when we signed neil maccann
SNSUN Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 The lowest RK would go is Everton/Birmingham/Villa etc, not League 1. Lol@postingcommonsenseamidaseaofurinetakers...
swannymere Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Wow, can i have some of what the OP is on? I can see this thread doing the rounds of other teams message boards and people literally ****ing the snow away. GET A GRIP.
benjii Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 This would be a serious statement of intent. Rumour has it Nic's already made the call. Please, PLEASE don't pm me because I'm sworn to secrecy but let's just say if you're getting your nipper a strip for Xmas let's hope the club shop hasn't run out of Ks, Es, As, Ns and Es! Whoops, said too much....
Thedelldays Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 if herr nick does not sign Keane...I will publish an open letter (on here) to him stating my dissatisfaction. he has been warned
bender Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 What NPC club is going to pay him 70-80k a week? He's not worth that much and shouldn't get it, even if he stays in the prem.
saint francis Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Brilliant I thought when I read the thread title! Reading the posts opinions seem a bit mixed. Shall we say 50/50?
SuperMikey Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 I just saw Keane coming out of Asda in town with a tub of Rocky Road, some Doritos and a pack of Biros. Looked as if he's on his way to an all-night contract signing session at SMS!
Badger Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Exactly Badger! KK was one, David Hirst was another. I think someone has already mentioned Speedie and Dixon (although that didn't turn out as well as the others) Sorry, but you can not mention David Hirst in the same vein as KK.
Wade Garrett Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Why don't we go for Bridge as well. He's made his money, and could come back down here and help us out. I hear Rooney's a bit unhappy as well, he's made his money. He could come down here and help us out. I'm sure we could get all these players, as it's such a nice place to live and quite near the Forest. For Rooney, there is the added bonus of the world famous Derby Road, for a bit of slap and tickle with a diseased ming*r whenever it takes his fancy.

Wade Garrett Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Don't be silly. That's what they said about Keegan and Shilton signing for us.

We've already got Harding and Dickson. Also Rooney has been woefully out of form lately, no time for a player like that, plus on current form he wouldn't get in a head of Barnard or Gully.
saint_bert Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Here's a thought. Utd release Owen and Fergie makes a move for Keane. You may laugh, but who thought he'd snap up Owen? The Keane / Berbatov partnership was superb and Fergie does seem to have a knack for getting the most out of players who are nearing the end of their career. Pretty sure that wont happen. Fergie soured that possiblilty the time he said he want worth 5 million when he went to Coventry.
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 He wouldn't get anywhere near our bench TBH. He just wouldn't cut it in league 1. I think we would be far better off saving his 70k a week wages to build up a package for Antonio, i think 100m and 150k a week would suffice and a relative bargain considering him alone will win us a champions league in a few years time.
boxosponge Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 He would be too old to fit into our plans, simple as that.
