I just found this when trawling around some football kit websites... though it's nothing to do with kits.

It's a fairly interesting website which pitches Saints Premier League (and ONLY Prem) players against each other - you can vote for the one you prefer in a series of head-to-heads and then see how the players rank overall.

http://www.greatestsaintsplayer.com/

I suspect it hasn't been exactly OVER-used, seeing as Le Tiss is 4th, Brett Ormerod is top and Jelle Van Damme is in the top 30 due to having won the one vote he was in, but I dare say you lot can do something about that...

No need for any comedy vote-rigging here, it'll just be interesting to see what happens.

Is Graham Potter better than Neil Moss ? How does Ulrich Van Gobbel rank up against Patrick Colleter ? YOU DECIDE ! Etc.

The Greatest 4-4-2 team so far is this, which has a couple of "just WRONG"s in it :

Dave Beasant

Jason Dodd

Ken Monkou

Michael Svensson

Wayne Bridge

Anders Svensson

Eyal Berkovic

Chris Marsden

Fabrice Fernandes

Brett Ormerod

Matthew Le Tissier

Top 7 is already looking much more realistic... shame there appears to be two Henri Camaras and two Kenwyne Joneses in the database though.

It's a system that is underpinned (for multiple teams) by a database for Premier League players so only Prem players will appear, and when I posted this at Christ-knows-what AM (just checked, it was 3:04AM) there had only been about 20 head to heads per player, so it was a bit susceptible to individual mentalism.

Now everyone on here can have a go, I've naively assumed all of the outliers of mentalism who post on here will offset each other providing a fairly representative outcome.

In short, don't complain, go and add your opinions.

just got:-

John Beresford v Tahar El kalej

I went for Tahar! If Beresford was injury free for us, i think he would have been ace. i remember when saints played yeovil town in pre-season one year and thinking this was beresford's year........he retired the following week :(

Anybody go to Tahar's debut at Tottenham? A great start for him, then losing 7-2 in the same game. what a waste of a journey that was ! :(

Lee Powell or Derek Allan? What a choice to make.

I'd go with Lee Powell, he took my school team to pieces singlehandedly in 1989 and next time I saw him he was in the Saints team poster for 1991/2. Also, I have absolutely no recollection of Derek Allan at all.

Kenwyne Jones vs Luis Boa Morte.

Says Jones only played 2 games for Saints in the Prem.....

One of which was at Birmingham when he was played at right midfield. Bloody Redknapp.

I just had Matt Le Tissier against Henri Camara, only one winner obviously but I was shocked to see that MLT has lost 6.4% of votes, who is voting against him??

Glenn Hoddle and Terry Venables perhaps

I prefer the look of the team like this when you take into acount the top 11 players and adjust the players positions slightly.

Niemi

Dodd, M.Svennson, Benali, Bridge

Oackley, A.Svensson

MLT,

Beattie, Ostenstad, Pahars

Still don't quite understand how Anders is in there though??

People are quick to forget how good he was. Just because he didn't run around like a headless chicken, smashing into tackles, everybody branded him as 'average' and called him lazy. I remember him as an intelligent player who was a good passer, a competent tackler and struck a decent dead ball.

... For Sweden perhaps.

Anders was a player who performed better when he had better more intelligent players around him.

Thats why he looked great for Sweden and looked average most of the time playing with the utter dross we had with him then.

looks like a right old heap of crap, if you can't vote for Alan Shearer and Mark Wright it is totally unrepresentative of SFC.No Pahars and Ormerod in the team, you've got to be joking right?.

I think if you study the records you'll find that the reason you cannot vote for Shearer or Wright is that neither made an appearance for Saints in the Premiership since Shearer left just before the Prem started and Wright left a whole 5 years before it started.

And, anyway, a web site that uses the words "had to of made one appearance" clearly does not know a lot.

Euw, and to think I put the link up here. That's so very wrong for at least two reasons.

Which player was it assigned to ?

As I said earlier, I found it when voting on "Best Prem kit ever" which uses the same format based on the images created by the truecolours website - they obviously have a db of Prem teams, kits, players and limited appearance information and are trying to do as much as possible with it.
