VectisSaint Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 Excuse my ignorance, but what has the great man been awarded? I thought he received an MBE a few years back, is this something new? Queue comments from ****s soon who have no sense of what this fella did for our club.
Viking Warrior Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 I think thats his FA cup winning medal he has at long last

Deppo Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 This is fantastic. It's about time he was recognised and what better way than to join Ted Bates as a Knight of the Realm. Arise, Sir Lawrie McMenemy - the city is proud of you.
RonManager Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 Well done Lawrie, thanks for everything.
Stoozer Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 This is fantastic. It's about time he was recognised and what better way than to join Ted Bates as a Knight of the Realm. Arise, Sir Lawrie McMenemy - the city is proud of you. Not likey is it. Becoming a Knight of the Realm that is.
Deppo Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 Not likey is it. Becoming a Knight of the Realm that is. Please don't turn this thread with your negativity. This is about celebrating Lawrie's knighthood, not denigrating it. If you want to do that, please start your own thread questioning it. I might make the trip up to Buck Pal to stand at the gates for this - I assume it is New Year's Honours?

jawillwill Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 Great news, and I'd like to think I had a little to do with it. I wrote a letter to Buckingham Palace a few months ago asking her majesty to honour the great man on behalf of the city of Southampton. I never received a reply but it seems she has obliged! If the stand names ever get change, I think we should definately consider a 'Sir Lawrie' stand.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 It's great man! A man of his Kaliber deserves nothing less.
St Chalet Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 Deppo, the dialysis machines at Southampton General Hospital take the **** less than you.
buctootim Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 Deppo, the dialysis machines at Southampton General Hospital take the **** less than you. Are you running down our fine and selfless health service? You should be ashamed.
Jeff Le Taxi Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 A man of his Kaliber deserves nothing less. I see what you did there! luckily as i was about to correct you!
Jeff Le Taxi Posted 27 November, 2010 Posted 27 November, 2010 Congratulations Lawrie btw, highly deserved.
ericofarabia Posted 28 November, 2010 Posted 28 November, 2010 Arrived on this fred thinking it was goin g to Tantric Sex related .... but none the less glad to hear of Lawries news ... did Cortese present it to him on the pitch before Kick Off of The Fa Cup Match yesterday?
Stoozer Posted 28 November, 2010 Posted 28 November, 2010 You lot are a little strange. I am very grateful for what LM did for Saints and appreciate his charity work (not quite sure where I wrote that I wasn't). All I said was that it is unlikely that he would be knighted. Where does it say he get a KBE or Kt? You're all so quick to pounce aren't you?
Liquidshokk Posted 28 November, 2010 Posted 28 November, 2010 Where does it mention anything about knighthood???
scotty Posted 28 November, 2010 Posted 28 November, 2010 Where does it mention anything about knighthood??? It doesnt. Deppo is trying to get a few more of his posts deleted is all.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 29 November, 2010 Posted 29 November, 2010 It doesnt. Deppo is trying to get a few more of his posts deleted is all. He clearly has so much more vision that the rest of us. So why doesn't he show us just how visionary he is and not post them in the first place?
docker-p Posted 29 November, 2010 Posted 29 November, 2010 A well deserved reward for a manager that not only gave us are greatest day, but established us as a top flight club, and league runners up in '84.
hypochondriac Posted 29 November, 2010 Posted 29 November, 2010 He clearly has so much more vision that the rest of us. So why doesn't he show us just how visionary he is and not post them in the first place? What do you mean? Surely he is hilarious and all his posts are crammed full of wit and insight.
Deppo Posted 29 November, 2010 Posted 29 November, 2010 Thanks hypo, but this thread is about Sir Lawrie. Please keep it on topic fellas.
hasper57saint Posted 29 November, 2010 Posted 29 November, 2010 Lawrie won't get a Knighthood. He's a 'reds' supporter and only 'blues' get to become Sirs!
RedAndWhite91 Posted 29 November, 2010 Posted 29 November, 2010 It's a good job Nineteen Canteen is still banned, he'd hate this thread! I'm pleased for McMenemy anyhow.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 30 November, 2010 Posted 30 November, 2010 Yep, he deserves a medal for putting up with that standard lamp.
