I note Connolly is not in the squad. I think it's a fair opinion that he is arguably, when fit, our best striker but it looks as though he might be paying a visit to the treatment room instead today.

I agree...shame is never fit..

then again, he may have fallen out with cortese....?

"On the bench for Saints today are Davis, Martin, Harding, Butterfield, Chamberlain, Doble and Reeves" according to the OS.

Hope Ben Reeves gets a run out at some point. I'll be really interested to see how he gets on against adults, having only seen him play in the U18s where he usually stood out as a class player. Could be a great full back if he can handle the physical side of things in the first team, but he sure isn't another van Gobbel in stature.

may god go with connolly if he crossed cortese

don't see why he should have though, more likely didn't think so much of not getting a game when our "star striker" could score his way out of a wet paper bag.I suggest that maintaining the ridiculously out of form Lambert in the side is causing problems.

I agree with you on this point. It is a real shame. There is no doubt of Connolly's ability, and I would certainly rank him in the upper echelons of saints' striker hierarchy.

However, and this is the crucial part, he spends far too much time in and around the treatment room.

A Shame that Connolly is not fit today, he does spend a lot of time out of the first team due to injury. When fit he is probably our most effective striker.

do we know that he isn't fit?? Was a few minutes against Shrewsbury too much for him then?

All I know is that he is in the treatment room. Shame really, as he is potentially the best striker we have.

So was Marian Pahars until he contracted an affliction remarkably similar to lead swinger's cramp.
