georgeweahscousin Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 As I don't think the FA cup should be a priority, I would love to see this team get a run out barring any injuries of course:- Bialkowski Butterfield Martin Seaborne Dickson Gobern Hammond Guly Holmes Connolly Doble What do you think?
RedAndWhite91 Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Full strength team, get them back to winning ways after Tuesday's draw, then we're in the hat for the next round which could provide many quality fixtures. I'd still like to think the team in the OP could beat Cheltenham but you can never be too sure. The FA Cup isn't our biggest priority but you can't go wrong with a run in the FA Cup.
MarkSFC Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Think it will be virtually full strength, but I would leave Davis, Lallana, and Fonte on the bench and use Bart, Holmes and Martin. Probably also start with Guly instead of OX. The FA Cup is obviously not priority but getting to round 3 could possibly yeild a glamour tie and possible tv revenue/exposure for our club so important to be serious enough to win Saturday.
patred44 Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Well, if Adkins doesn't select Bart and give KD a rest, then he might as well move Bart on. Bart hasn't had the confidence of the last 4-5 managers, which must suggest there is is something amiss! He has a new contract, probably better than the vast majority of this divisions first team keepers. I would hate to think all he wants to do is sit on the bench until his contract runs out!

Well, Davis regulary playing much better than he did in 2006 pretty much covers that for me, nothing to do with Bart, who is now on his third Saints contract isn't he? Someone must be offering them to him.
lethallee Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Davis Richardson Fonte Martin Dickinson Lallana Hammond Morgan Holmes Lambert Barnard
surrey1saint Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Morgan is banned for 1 game ,as he has 5 yellows.Adkins has said that Chaplow will cover,if fit. If not we will probably see Gobern.
RonManager Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Another chance to get Sir Rickie firing on all cylinders, if this had been a league match then there might have been a selection issue.
lethallee Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Morgan is banned for 1 game ,as he has 5 yellows.Adkins has said that Chaplow will cover,if fit. If not we will probably see Gobern. good point. I'd like to see Gobern be given a chance If chappers not fit.
Tom28 Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Time to rest a few after a couple of massive games: Bart Butterfield Martin Seaborne Dickson Holmes Gobern Chaplow Guly Doble Connolly
suewhistle Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 I'd like to see Gobern and Holmes given starts and Ox-C on the bench. He's still very young and not fully physically mature and has had a lot of game time recently plus that bout of cramp towards the end of the last match. Martin or Seabourne for Jaidi. Maybe Doble for Barnard to give the hernia/groin a rest, again with the option of coming on if necessary. I'm really not sure what to do about Lambert though...
Lighthouse Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Bart Butters Martin Seaborne Dickson Gobern Guly Hammond Holmes Lambert Doble Assuming Seaborne is fit and Connolly doesn't have the legs for 90 mins. AOC seemed to be getting a lot of cramp on Tuesday, so I'd give him the day off. Lambert needs a goal from open play like I need a Ferrari.
Saints67 Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Davis Richardson Fonte Martin Dickson Ox Chaplow Hammond Lallana Lambert Do Prado
Appy Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Davis Butterfield Seaborne Martin Dickson Lallana Hammond Gobern/Chaplow Holmes Lambert Connolly.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Davis Richardson Fonte Martin Dickson Lallana Hammond Gobern Holmes Barnard Do Prado Subs: Lambert, Chaplow, Oxo, Bart, Butterfield, new loan striker, new loan winger!!!
thesaint sfc Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Ricky needs to play - resting an unmotivated player isn't going to help anyone.
Appy Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 I see Stuart Attwell is the ref on saturday, should be interesting. Marlon Pack (on loan from pompey) looks like playing for Cheltenham as well.
Saint_clark Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 A week before this game and a week before the next one, no need to rest anyone IMO.
derry Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Bialkowski, Richardson, Martin, Seabourne, Dickson, Holmes, Guly, Hammond, Lallana, Lambert, O-C. 4-4-2. Give Barnard and Chaplow week on the bench to rest injuries same with Jaidi but available if needed. I'd like to see O-C play Danny Wallace style up the middle off Lambert playing right up front not dropping off.
Lighthouse Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 A week before this game and a week before the next one, no need to rest anyone IMO. Try again.
Toomer Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 I see Stuart Attwell is the ref on saturday, should be interesting. Marlon Pack (on loan from pompey) looks like playing for Cheltenham as well. Just to add a little spice to the fixture.
Neil Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Bialkowski Richardson Seaborne Martin Dickson Lallana Hammond Chaplow Holmes Barnard Lambert Bring Doble on for 20/30m if possible? More competition up front the better.
SuperMikey Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 ---------------------DAVIS---------------------- RICHARDSON----FONTE----SEABORNE----DICKSON CHAMBERLAIN---DEANO----CHAPLOW-----LALLANA --------------BARNARD----LAMBERT-------------- Subs: Bart, Butterfield, Harding, Jaidi, Schneiderlin, Holmes, Guly

Whilst I see where you're coming from I really do think that team would get torn a new a::sehole. And whilst the cup isn't a priority I certainly don't think we should ever be fielding weakened teams in it. As we saw from the Man Utd game a couple of seasons and the Pompey game last year it really does offer up an opportunity to have something to get excited about. And that is good for crowds. And good for the city.
Bailey Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Got a sneaky feeling it'll be something like the following: Davis Butterfield Martin Seaborne Dickson Lallana Hammond Gobern Holmes Connolly Guly
sfcjmcsfc16 Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 H Dean 11/1 10/3 17/2 9/1 odds on to score for us Who?!?!?
K,Billy's supersound Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 ------Davis------ Frazer----- Seabourne (if fit)/Jaidi------Fonte-----Dickson Holmes-----Chaplow (if fit)/Gobern----Hammond----lallana Doble ----- Connolley Subs:Bart, Butterfeild,Morgan,Oxo,Guly
Window Cleaner Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 H Dean 11/1 10/3 17/2 9/1 odds on to score for us Who?!?!? Harlee Dean, a young development squad player, been here since about August, plays midfield I think.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Think I'll just say this the once !Morgan is suspended for Saturday's game, doubt if we'll risk Fonte either because he's on 4 cards.
Shroppie Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Got a sneaky feeling it'll be something like the following: Davis Butterfield Martin Seaborne Dickson Lallana Hammond Gobern Holmes Connolly Guly Pretty sure one of Barnard / Lambert will start.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 with barnard carry a groin/hernia problem and lambert with hip and other problems why risk either for a low priority compition?. they should both be given time to rest there injuries. Connolly and Guly or Doble should be used against what is a lower placed league two team. i personally would really like to see holmes given 90mins and also Gobern and Doble play. unless jaidi needs the rest i wouldnt change the back four or keeper every game they play together build a better understanding. Be a nice break from the pressure and tension of the past two big games and one that i can just sit back and enjoy. hope no new injuries/suspensions and a nice 3-0 win coyrs.
SNSUN Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 I wouldn't be suprised if it is: Davis: Got to keep a core of regulars. Butterfield: Giving him some game time and Frazer a rest Fonte: Same reason as Davis. Martin: Gives Jaidi a break, three games in 7 days is tough for him, poss. Seaborne if he's fit. Dickson: Or Harding if he's fit. Chamberlain: For creativity purposes, he'll tear Cheltenham a new butthole. Gobern: Faith in the youngsters? It's him or Guly. Hammond: As per Davis. Holmes: He's looked good in the last couple of sub appearances, his dead balls are better than anyone elses, and it gives Adam a break. Lambert: Until he scores ffs, this could be the game he needs to find the net. Connolly: If fit, but I'd like to see Doble given a start if he's as promising as people say. Poss. Guly though, playing behind Lambert. Big dilemmas for Adkins, a strong team could cost us with injuries or suspensions, a weak team could cost us an FA Cup run and a growing lack of confidence.
saint84 Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Go with the strongest side available with a c few fringe/development players on the bench and ready to come on if we are winning. No point changing a team that's in form when we haven't got a midweek game.
The Kraken Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 It won't be this as I think Adkins will go with a strong, first choice line-up, but I'd like to see: Bart Butterfield - Seaborne - Martin - Harding Schneiderlin - Hammond AOC - Guly - Holmes Connolly
RedAndWhite91 Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 @officialsaints on Twitter was asked whether there'd be any loan signings and returned this: "...as for signing anyone, you will have to wait for Adkins' pre-match interview on the OS!". Is this a hint? Could we see a new loan signing in the squad?

Redondo Saint Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 The aim should be to win every game - I am sure this is how NA and NC look at it.
The Kraken Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 morgan is suspended Forgot that. Shame. If Chaplow puts in another decent performance on Saturday (injury permitting) that could be death knell for Morgan.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Forgot that. Shame. If Chaplow puts in another decent performance on Saturday (injury permitting) that could be death knell for Morgan. He'll probably leave anyway. I have no precise information on the fact but I am sure that he was particularly upset when he came back from a 2 game international outing where he performed really well to find himself dropped. He's young and that would be a real downer for him.I don't doubt that moves are already afoot to extract him from the club.
Window Cleaner Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 The aim should be to win every game - I am sure this is how NA and NC look at it. no it should be to obtain enough points to obtain automatic promotion, you don't need to win every game, you need to get roughly 90 points, ie 48 less than maximum. Winning at home, drwaing away is largely enough. Any manager who doesn't work on that basis is a fool.

If we can get some good money for him then I'll not be disappointed to see him leave. Plenty of potential but I don't think he's realised a quarter of it whilst playing here, and I also don't think he's the type of player we need right now.

Some football fans do over simplify things, Blackpool right, probably going to get fined for fielding a weakened team. Real football management is complex and is not for simple minds who think winning every game is what you need. You have to play the percentage game sometimes.

Schneiderlin doesn't rate a place at the moment he is a long way behind Chaplow and Hammond when it comes to the needs of the team. He has scored one goal in over two seasons and never gets into dangerous positions. In a team with aspirations to win the league and most of it's matches against hard working teams the last thing we need is a strolling player that settles for nothing passes to players five yds away and then holds. He never ever goes on the sort of run that both Hammond and Chaplow carried out for Chaplow's goal. A lot of the time he takes up the role of a strolling spectator and more often than not when a crisp forward move is started stops it by playing a square or backward pass then rather than move for the return holds and strolls. After two seasons he is a luxury player we can do without.
Brussels Saint Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Davis Frazier Fonte Seabourne Dickson Lallana Hammond Gobern Holmes Guly Lambert Is what I think he may go for. If Seabourne is still injured then Martin. OxC & Connelly to come on after about 60mins for Lallana & Lambert if we are 2 clear by then. Think that it is a fairly decent team and will be good if we get to see Oscar. I would like NA to give Bart a run, but I dont think he will.
Nexstar Posted 25 November, 2010 Posted 25 November, 2010 Would like to see Holmes start and I think with nobody coming in today it's pretty crucial for Doble and Gobern to get some game time.
