VectisSaint Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 RedCrap team for me - father (ok not a player, but has the be the most detested creature to be associated with Saints - I will start supporting another national team if he ever becomes England manager), and son - Jamie, only came here due to daddy paying him a huge pay cheque for an injured player and then being less than complimentary about his paymasters after leaving us (s©ee yoU Next Tuesday). Steve Williams would be worth a consideration (even though I loved watching him play for us) - we made him the player he was, went to the Arse (fair enough) but no need for snide remarks re Saints and then faded in to oblivion (quite unspectacularly at that). Lawrie -with his spirtual home (and southern supporters not really understanding footy as it should be - unlike the northerns - who really welcomed him !!!!! and now he tries to pass himself off as god's gift to all things Saints - just F off). Oh dear, while I can empathise with the 1st paragraph (although I don't really agree about Jamie), the second paragraph is just so wide of the mark. Stevie Williams and Lawrie Mac, 2 Saints legends. It really is sad that for all they did for the Club all someone can recall is this sort of rubbish. Still they say football is a game of opinions. Now if you really want to dislke an ex-Saint, Jelle van Damme fits the bill extremely well. A total tosser.
Miltonaggro Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 One that used to wind me up on a number of levels was David 'One Trick' Lee who ended up playing something like 200 games for Bolton, but was absolute ****e for us. The way the bloke looked was an issue, all that mulletry and hot air in a 9st frame! I was the biggest fan of Stevie Williams (idolised him as a kid), but kind of know where Red is coming from, these days he is very much 'Steve Williams ex Arsenal' when his best days were spent in a great Saints team. I felt the same way when Mark Wright left and gobbed off in the press about moving to a bigger club with ambition ad infinitum (Derby ffs!). I suppose most of us want players to actually care, and these days those players are incredibly rare (the Le Tissiers, Channons and Holmes's). I was certainly ****ed off when the Coca-Cola relegation boy-band left us en masse for better things, but all you can hope is the we pass them on the way up and they live to regret it. As a Saints fan you have to believe in Karma...
scotty Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 I don't know if this is shared amongst saints fans, but the only memory I have of Prutton is him trying to beat up the linesman against Arsenal Didnt he shove a ref on his ar5e and get a 10-match ban?
SW11_Saint Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 for me, Steve Baker. Still gives me nightmares nearly 30 years later. Yeah, I can never get over that Pompey game either. Unforgivable. The only time in my life I can remember booing one of our own - the worst individual performance I can recall in 40 odd years.
sidthesquid Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 Dixon & Speedie for being SO crap here & so obviously not interested. Dennis Wise, just because...
sidthesquid Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 Ricardo Fuller, Kenwyne Jones, Luis Boa Morte, Leon Best, Agustin Delgado, Kevin Phillips, Jelle Van Damme, Nathan Dyer, Adam Hammill, David McGoldrick, Vincent Pericard, would all get my back up if we played against them. Surely you can't mean the same man who has just scored the winner against Poopey. (And it was only a modest pie-addiction he developed down here.)

Maybe true, but we idolise players who are loyal to the team they supported as a kid, Stevie is no different. He supported the Arse from an early age, and remains loyal to the team he always supported. Maybe he played more games for us, but to hate Steve Williams simply because he is a loyal supporter of the team he grew up watching is to say the least a case of double standards. I have personally never heard him slag off Southampton, and I wouldn't be too bothered if he did. He was a professional footballer who gave everything for us and was arguably one of our greatest players ever and our skipper, and certainly when playing with Bally formed one of the best midfield partnerships, not just for Saints but In English football. To put someone like Steve Williams on a list of players to hate really beggars belief. I really don't agree with hating anyone, but there are many more worthy candidates for vitriloe than one of our greatest ever players. Very sad that he even got mentioned on this thread in my opinion.

I agree, Steve Williams was my favourite player as a kid, a brilliant midfielder and like you say, left us to play for his favourite club. How anyone can "hate" a player that broke into the team at 17 years old and gave us 7 or 8 good years and has his best period as a player with us is beyond me.
RobM Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 Kevin Philips, for being an arsehole. Plus he has cost me a few accumulator bets over the years with his stupid last minute goals.
Dellman Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 I reckon its a good sign when old players come back for Testimonials and Steve Williams came back for Danny Wallace when he developed multiple sclerosis, so he's a star, not one to hate.
The Majestic Channon Posted 20 November, 2010 Posted 20 November, 2010 Speedie- Never wanted to be at saints, begrudgingly joined as part of the shearer deal Kenwyne jones-went on strike Colin clarke-Liked him as a player but always had a dig at saint in interviews after leaving, especially when a skate
Mao Cap Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Kevin Davies, James Beattie, Kevin Philips. Any of the gutless w*nks who lay down and died on a weekly basis in 05, Davenport, Redknapp, Crouch etc.
Dalek2003 Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Glen Hoddle and the spiritual home ****e!. Dalek.................... incoming!!!! You obviously did not enjoy one of our most successful periods in the Premiership then. Bet you were one of the vocal few that put your own prejudices before the club in 2004.
Saint137 Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Matt Le Tissier. Seriously, hatred is too strong a word. Once a Saint always a Saint. Think of the number of certified legends who ended up playing for the Blue Few. And Scott Hiley.
Golden Balls Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Redknapp. It's so annoying to see him do sooooo well everywhere but here and yet its like it never happened. He got is so so wrong here and will never admit that. Look forward to giving K.Jones some stick. When Phillips comes back, thats always a laugh.
Huffton Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Redknapp, no question. If I was walking home from the pub, busting for a slash, and that c unt staggered, blazing, out of a burning building, I would cross the road and **** on a bush. As for players, can't think of too many I actually hate, wouldn't buy Kevin Phillips or Kenwyne Jones a pint though.
hypochondriac Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 I am so worried that Redknapp will be the next England manager. If it happens I don't now what I would do. Imagine a black and white shot of the bench as England win the world cup ala Ramsey, a photograph which will be shown constantly for the next fifty years. After his death people will talk about Redknapp in hushed tones as 'the special one.' Not sure about you but I never want to live in a world like that.
PhilippineSaint Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 mark Hughes A useless welsh tw at cost a fortune did not want to be here then had the gall tosay he wanted to be manager a complete and utter cu nt
Lighthouse Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Stern John for me. Turned up for pre season training claiming he wanted to earn a new contract. We offered him one when the takeover went through, then he f**ks off to Palace. The worst bit was he blamed us saying we took too long to offer him a contract. Don't like Phillips or Fuller either.

hypochondriac Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 I think you're on fairly safe ground there. Redknapp winning the world cup for England is the thing I want to happen least in the world. Therefore it will just to spite me.
captainchris Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Jamie Redknapp for me, although that's more about how much of a c*nt he is than how he played for us. Why - he was really dreadful for us - our worst player that year by a mile...
Huffton Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Why - he was really dreadful for us - our worst player that year by a mile... To be fair he was crocked, should have retired but wanted to give it one last shot, and Hector give 100% in the games he played. Now if were talking about dreadful players from that team you can't get worse than Calum Davenport, Olivier Barnard or the defensive genius that was Adreas Jakobssen!
Badger Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 mark Hughes A useless welsh tw at cost a fortune did not want to be here then had the gall tosay he wanted to be manager a complete and utter cu nt Absolutely spot on.
Macey_J2 Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Phillips doesnt have fond memorys of us because his wife cheated on him down here and Beattie was arrogant, but dont forget he deliberately didn't play against us for Shef Utd last game of the season when Stern John scored the winner to keep us in the Championship.
Mower Posted 21 November, 2010 Posted 21 November, 2010 Leon Best, Harry Redknapp, any Saint who later pulls on the royal blue of the fishy few, Kenwyne Jones, the Premiership relegation team, the board members that took us to the brink, Burley, Branfoot, Askham....... On a more positive note, could we not raise a list of players who left us in their prime who we continue to hold in regard? Shall I start the list?.........Shearer, Flowers, Wallace(D).......

Cestrian Saint Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 I've just noticed Adam Hammill's name on here a couple of times. I could be wrong, but wasn't he only here on loan? Therefore it probably wasn't his choice to leave!

FairWeather Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 There isn't a single player who I can be bothered to hate. The one's who left to go onto greater things, well good luck to them; and those whose careers subsequently downhill, well it evokes a certain amount of schadenfreude in me. But I can not suppress the bile rising in me when that self promoting dishonest **** Harry Redknapp appears on my TV. He may be the only person in the World I can truly say I hate. I'm angry just thinking about him now. If he ever becomes England Manager (and only a complete moron would think that was a good idea) England football will be dead to me until he is replaced.
rolosfc Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 Definitely Fuller for me, his attitude and lack of effort were disgusting.
saint1977 Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 My list is: Redknapp, Kevin Phillips, Kenwyne, David Lee, Paul Rideout, Colin Clarke (ended his career in South Coast derby reserve game breaking his leg on a goalpost), Ricardo Fuller, Calum Davenport, Leon Best, David Speedie, David Hirst (typical of the sort of past-it crocks with a poor attitude we used to sign), Rodney Wallace. Nathan Dyer more than made up for his errors with that FA Cup goal at Farton and then his celebration that caused mayhem. He then dedicated his goal to Saints fans afterwards and said he hoped it helped ease the rough times we were going through. I don't condone what he did in the nightclub which was plain wrong. Jamie Redknapp - I don't rate him as a pundit but I do think he didn't come to us for the money as he could have seen his deal out on Spurs for far more money and was keen to play for Dad (who I don't like) and tried to keep us up. Given the pain he was clearly in I think he shouldn't be judged purely on his Dad. Askham and Wiseman have to top my hate list though.
Lets B Avenue Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 Why Rideout and Wallace? Both gave great service and in Rideout's case, was frozen out by the evil Branfoot. Wallace was sold because we were broke.
Right sider Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 What a load of tosh this thread is! Can't really think of any players I 'hate' after leaving us. No one really went and wound us up like others, i.e Clarridge, Heath, Biley et al. No one really rubbed our noses in anything. So no I cannot recall any Saints player who I can say I wouldn't have some good memory that outweighed any bad emotion!
thesaint sfc Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 I absolutely f*cking hate Leon Best. Kevin Phillips too - although he'd be handy now!
ericofarabia Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 Redknapp. It's so annoying to see him do sooooo well everywhere but here and yet its like it never happened. He got is so so wrong here and will never admit that. Look forward to giving K.Jones some stick. When Phillips comes back, thats always a laugh. Yep right up to the moment he scores I think he was given a bad time by Redkrap .... drop your potentially most potent/experienced goal scorer for the biggest game of the clubs history .... you saggy faced caaaarrrrnt. KP always gave it everything he had, his troubles seemed to be more off the field than on. Mind you "'Stand up if you've ****ged his wife.. " and seeing half the ground stand up, was one of the all time classics Fuller's reaction to his ribbing when we played Stoke was a bit naughty, but it showed we were getting to him!!! And Jones going on strike, are probably the 2 I wouldn't send Xmas cards to, but I still get some enjoyment if either score in the prem, as i do with the numerous old boys plying their trade there!!
thesaint sfc Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 Definitely Fuller for me, his attitude and lack of effort were disgusting. lol. Fuller was brilliant for the last few months before he left. He was our best player - just lacked motivation. I've got no problems with Fuller at all.

Agree - but he never has a single positive thing to say about us these days! He's as slimy as his Dad.

knellster Posted 22 November, 2010 Posted 22 November, 2010 I still have no time for Peter Crouch, but as others have said "hate" is too strong. Can't forgive him for behaving like a ***t at Palace. he got a red card in that game and then missed the last game of the season v Man U which sent us down. Then he couldn't wait to jump ship and sign for someone else.
