Crab Lungs Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 I don't claim to be ITK these days but I was passed this snippet today. Allegedly (allegedly!) Ricky was unhappy with the club in the summer as Middlesbrough were in for him but we refused to let Ricky talk to them. Like I said, don't know if it's true or anyone corroborate (maybe leftback) but it's only what I heard. No idea if he's still sulky about it but it may go some way to explaining his poor form beyond the usual "lack of fitness" line.
Pancake Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 This has been hinted at by leftback on here over the last week, chances are who-ever you heard it off was just repeating it from someone who read it on here Crabby.
channonball Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 It would be silly if true, because if any scouts are watching. No one will want him anyway! It does appear to be a mental issue though as he doesn't seem to have any obvious injuries.
hypochondriac Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 It's probably something like that. It's **** anyway whatever it is.

Well,he can use that as an excuse but what about the rest of the underperforming lot. He is under contract to us i pressume so therefore his loyalties and what he want should fall by the wayside until otherwise...but it's football is'nt it,players can do what the hell they like when they like. Perhaps it is his way of showing he is generally unhappy, just like some of the others. Perhaps he misses Pardew, that was made clear to be a crucial part of why he came here. In fact, quite possibly that reason could be aimed at a few of the underperformers. Edited 17 November, 2010 by saint lard
saintjay77 Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 If true he is not doing himself any favours by sulking and letting his form drop. Financially we are in a position where we can tell other clubs to bog off and looking ahead we want to be looking to keep together a good team that will take us upwards. Getting a sulk on for half a season its unlikly Middlebrough will be coming back sniffing at January or anyone else for that matter. If he wants a move he should make it known to the powers that be, then work his socks off regardless of the answer from the club. Come January there would still be people sniffing around and he can make his feelings known again. Trying to play hard ball with a club that financially can afford to let you rot in the development side doesnt sound like it would be the best plan IMO. Hopefully just a rumour though and a couple of good goals will pick him back up and we can start looking for the spots that will get us in the NPC next season.
Give it to Ron Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Well if anyone is sending scouts to watch him this season they will go away and say don't bother to the manager.
Crab Lungs Posted 17 November, 2010 Author Posted 17 November, 2010 It would be silly if true, because if any scouts are watching. No one will want him anyway! It does appear to be a mental issue though as he doesn't seem to have any obvious injuries. That is always what I've believed - it's mental, not physical. Rickie's never going to be a massive runner or workhorse but he contributes in the right areas and it often comes off. Although I haven't seen much of him myself personally this season, it's fair to say that many of our supporters believe he's under par. That said, I'd love to know how many times he's hit the woodwork this year!
Crab Lungs Posted 17 November, 2010 Author Posted 17 November, 2010 Btw - I wish I had good rumours post, not negative ((
Crab Lungs Posted 17 November, 2010 Author Posted 17 November, 2010 I thought you were Leftback Lungs? Positionally yes, knowledgeably, no
Big Bad Bob Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Perhaps he misses Pardew, that was made clear to be a crucial part of why he came here He can't be missing Pardew, he was playing **** when Pardew was here (BTW I said the same thing in response to the same argument on the Puncheon thread). And as Hypo responded, maybe AP's demotivation has had a knock on effect. Maybe a huge mistake not to have let AP go in the summer but, as they say, hindsight is 20/20
Jonnyboy Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 didnt leftback say we didnt offer him a pay rise? maybe middlesborough were going to offer a better contract...

Oh and apparently he was offered a contract extension in the summer but no pay rise. Enough to throw your toys out of your pram?? If you're a professional footballer it seems so!!
thesaint sfc Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Players have bad form sometimes. I don't believe any of this. Trust in Ricky and all will become good.
Genk Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 He should be happy that he didn't go to Middlesbrough. Look at them now, would rather be in our position than theirs. Living in the North-East, No fans turn up and not getting promoted for toffee
Fan The Flames Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 So its all Gordon Strachans fault is there no loyalty in football anymore.
hypochondriac Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Players have bad form sometimes. I don't believe any of this. Trust in Ricky and all will become good. I would go along with what leftback says to be honest. He has a history of correct info.
Big Bad Bob Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Players have bad form sometimes. I don't believe any of this. Trust in Ricky and all will become good. Bad form that goes on for half a season?? A couple of games can be forgiven but... He should be happy that he didn't go to Middlesbrough. Look at them now, would rather be in our position than theirs. Living in the North-East, No fans turn up and not getting promoted for toffee Are Everton not getting relegated then??
Weston Saint Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 (edited) If Middlesbrough did contact the club and ask to approach Lambert and if the club said no why did they allegedly only offer an extension to the contract without more money. I think, like a number of other transfer rumours, it is wide of the mark. It has to be remembered that we allegedly doubled Lamberts wages to sign him so I suspect he is one of the highest paid Div 1 players. Cortese, knowing that the contract has time to run, might well have simply approached Lambert to ask if he wanted to extend. Nothing wrong with that. Lambert had a groin injury at the beginning of the season which took time to fully heal and it was clear he was overweight. May be this was because he was unable/unwilling to train on until it had cleared. He now looks fully fit and much trimmer. Much has been said about his lack of influence in the games. Think about it. That was the same for much of the previous season. However we tend to ignore it because he was scoring so many goals. He is, like any good striker, having a lean spell. He still has the ability but he needs good support. Class, if the previous two seasons were not a fluke, will win through. If it does not then he, like any other out of form player, needs a break from the pressures of expectation heaped on his shoulders. Give it a bit longer and don't look for fancy excuses. There probably are none. Edited 17 November, 2010 by Weston Saint spelling
thesaint sfc Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 I would go along with what leftback says to be honest. He has a history of correct info. True just trying to be positive. Ricky might read what I read and think 'aww, bless his little cotton socks - I'll score 50 goals this season now'
RonManager Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 For those who may not have seen this, a word from the horse's mouth.... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2202389,00.html
hypochondriac Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 True just trying to be positive. Ricky might read what I read and think 'aww, bless his little cotton socks - I'll score 50 goals this season now' Bit of a shame really. He was like our cult hero last year so to see him do so comparatively poorly this year is sad indeed.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 I'd heard that it was/is to do with family problems.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 He should be happy that he didn't go to Middlesbrough. Look at them now, would rather be in our position than theirs. Living in the North-East, No fans turn up and not getting promoted for toffee Boro will be alright now that they've gotten shot of Strachan. A real dinosaur, graft, graft, graft that's all his teams are about. Didn't fancy one of his best players so just chucked him out of the first team. Probably thought that dribbling and backheeling are just circus acts, same as he did with Anders.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 I'd heard that it was/is to do with family problems. oooh, if I had a bad day at work every time my Mrs or one of the youngsters gets on my nerves the world would be a sorry place.
chocco boxo Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Time to get your money on RL to score a hatrick saturday.
Saint_lambden Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 From what I've heard , he's wants to leave and a few of the other players were not happy with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 tactic and why Barnard isn't playing enough.
Nexstar Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 He should be over the moon, we protected him from having to move to Middlesbrough.
Dazza82 Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 From what I've heard , he's wants to leave and a few of the other players were not happy with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 tactic and why Barnard isn't playing enough. If this is the case then whatever players dont want to be here can go, i dont care who they are (or think they are) no one player is bigger than our club. Everyone needs to be 100% behind the manager and pulling in the right direction as a team, i have faith in Adkins to get us out of this division, he has managed in this league twice and been promoted twice and if the players dont back him then if we get the right price they can go imo
Saint Charlie Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 From what I've heard , he's wants to leave and a few of the other players were not happy with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 tactic and why Barnard isn't playing enough. Is that on your website along with all your other wind ups in the summer. When is the no8 Nathan Tyson being unleashed?
skintsaint Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 From what I've heard , he's wants to leave and a few of the other players were not happy with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 tactic and why Barnard isn't playing enough. Why didnt they 'complain' when using it so often last season?

Didn't you also hear that Nathan Tyson was about to sign and get the No. 8 shirt? I font trust your source one bit.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Why didnt they 'complain' when using it so often last season? Anyway it's not up to the players to dictate systems.I suspect that they were more surprised about the team composition than anything else.Perhaps Barnard is being punished for bringing the club into disrepute or some old wives tale like that. LB said yesterday (or the day before) that Morgan's 2 sendings off last season got him into fairly hot water. Barney has been sent off and had a night club bust up, perhaps his slate hasn't been wiped clean as yet.
Andy_Porter Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Why didnt they 'complain' when using it so often last season? Because we where winning last season playing 4-5-1.
S-Clarke Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 There's no smoke without fire and it's been clear that somethings been up with him since the start of the season. Doesn't look like it's an injury or fitness anymore, so he's obviously been unsettled.

Probably, wouldn't be the first footballer to have his nose put out of joint because someone else is getting a half crown a week more than him.Not that it's very likely at SFC of course.
scotty Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 I was told Rickie has been necking the booze. Then again, this is from the same source that assured me Jurgen Klinsmann was going to be Pardews replacement
Huffton Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 He's a striker whose going through a bit of a goal drought. His pay will be a bit lower, no goal bonuses, of course he's f**king miserable! All strikers go through it, he'll score one soon and it wil kick start his season, just in time for a good post xmas run into the automatic spots. Next time he bags one look at the reaction on his face and his celebration, thats not a player who 'doesn't want to be here'.

corsacar saint Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 I know a guy who uses a pub in Baddesley every night of the week, and he told me that he has not seen RL in there for a few months. The guy is a big Saints fan.
ottery st mary Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 He is only unhappy because his missus has severely rationed him until starts scoring again and bringing home the goal bonus.. Rikkeee cheer up sunshine..back in the harness withy two goals apiece against Posh and Brighton... Not ITK but this is from an un reliable sawce.. But the goals will start popping..Come on Rikkeee.
aintforever Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 If he was led to believe that good performances would lead to a pay increase you can't blame him for being ****ed off if the club offered him the same terms.

Maybe a huge mistake not to have let AP go in the summer but, as they say, hindsight is 20/20 Right, Lambert was demotivated under Pardew enough to score 31 goals?? Can't wait to see him happy then...
Give it to Ron Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 If he was that unhappy would he be putting in appearances representing the club at social functions? He turned up at Mountbatten school last week as part of the Saints team that took on the Royals in the annual sports quiz. Saints lost as usual ;-)

Rikkeee cheer up sunshine..back in the harness withy two goals apiece against Posh and Brighton... Not ITK but this is from an un reliable sawce.. But the goals will start popping..Come on Rikkeee. Rubbish. My primary sauce made it completely clear that Rickie was fine until some idiot in the side informed him that there is a Saints Fans Forum. He signed up, read this place and has been seen on more than one occassion in public phone boxes - when pressing the redial number it answers with the Samaritans. It's all this place's fault My secondary sauce insists that he was fine until he met Granty & Alpine during the pre-season. Granty apparently told him that he needed to get into more wide attacking positions and when that wasn't possible should use his guru manager's advice and look to drop back in the hole. he then went to have a beer with Alps (allegedly)
theyin Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Given Jermaine Beckford's season so far, should we feel lucky we haven't got two misfirers in the squad? If indeed we were ever a possible destination for JB
VectisSaint Posted 17 November, 2010 Posted 17 November, 2010 Perhaps he was ****ed off having a whinging Puncheon around. Now that he's gone perhaps Ricky will cheer up and start banging them in again.
