Colinjb Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Hope this isn't true, know he may be something of a scapegoat but he obviously has ability.... he is just the kind of player you know would score against you on return. Perhaps Adkin's has had enough of his seemingly poor attitude.
Mowgli Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Would be a big loss IMO. But that's what you get when you boo your own players for no real reason.
Saint_clark Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Would be a big loss IMO. But that's what you get when you boo your own players for no real reason. He himself has said that he could understand the boos and that they spurred him on.
Mowgli Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 He himself has said that he could understand the boos and that they spurred him on. to the media - yes. Wonder what he said through gritted teeth aftward ;~)
Shroppie Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Would be a big loss IMO. But that's what you get when you boo your own players for no real reason. Agreed. Just can't understand the grief he's had from certain fans this season. He's a quality player who always works for the team.
West End Saint Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 I hope we hang onto him Punch has ability when he arrived last season he made a big impact on the team scored a few and some assists we havent seen the best of him this season but there is no reason to get rid of a player that has ability at this level. It is to much to ask Chambo to play & play well every game a mix of punch & chambo 1 starting 1 coming on as sub is a good thing to have available it worked well with Antonio & Papa last season.
SuperMikey Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Can't figure out whether he'd be a loss or not. He's obviously talented, but his head isn't in the right place. Either way, it'd pave the way for a quality replacement to come in at RW.
ladysaint Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Seems like Leftback could be right yet again.
SuperSAINT Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Seems like Leftback could be right yet again. What did he say about it, ladysaint?
SuperMikey Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 What did he say about it, ladysaint? Something about Puncheon being dropped from the squad for attitude and being sold on in January. I don't like the anti-Cortese slant on every post, but leftback really is ITK.
Dangerous Albert Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Seems like Leftback could be right yet again. Leftback is the real deal,no doubt. Whether he should be leaking what he's leaking is another matter...
ladysaint Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 He actually said this:- puncheon and cosby at loggerheads, dont expect too much input from him untill situation resolves itself ....one way or another!!!
CWD Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 I hope he stays. If he doesn't then the boo boys should take good long look at themselves.
Chez Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 it appears his agent hasn't hung around finding him a new club.
St_Tel49 Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 He actually said this:- puncheon and cosby at loggerheads, dont expect too much input from him untill situation resolves itself ....one way or another!!! Who's Cosby??
ericb Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Well it least it'll shut up the retard next to me at SMS who seems to go along for no reason other than to be smug when puncheon makes a mistake [in his eyes]. As i've said before though i think he actually does a really good job for us, you only need to look at the fact that he's always in the right place to be noticeable, that he scares the opposition with his runs (taking away markers) and that he does actually challenge for the ball. Good luck to him if he does step up, i really think he could do a decent job at a higher level.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 He himself has said that he could understand the boos and that they spurred him on. players seem to say anything they think the management wants to hear, guess they have to be careful what they say in case it's taken as a transfer request or lack of discretion or whatever.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 W Good luck to him if he does step up, i really think he could do a decent job at a higher level. Although I find it strange that our cast offs seem to be wanted in Leagues above our own.

The ones that think the only good players are the ones that charge around at 10000 MPH jumping into tackles showing their commitment. He hasn't been on the best of form this season and TBH felt AC deserves his place ahead of him at the moment, however but he is very skillful and creative and weighed in with a few goals and plenty of assists lasr season. The problem with him is is that as a creative player when through ball or run comes to nothnig it makes him look bad, if he found the target with every throughball and beat his man every time he wouldn't be playing in league one. He is clearly a confidence player and needs to be managed properly, as Ince did and MK Dons and Pardew seemed to be doing.
Pat from Poole Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Who's Cosby?? He means Crosby, Adkins' assistant.

Reminds me of the stick Fabrice Fernandez used to get, the difference being that Puncheon tackles. He has a fantastic first touch, but that extremely important facit of the game is totally ignored by many fans at SMS.
scotty Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 He himself has said that he could understand the boos and that they spurred him on. to the media - yes. Wonder what he said through gritted teeth aftward ;~) I thought that at the time. Hope we dont offload him, personally.
Colinjb Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 I thought that at the time. Hope we dont offload him, personally. I shared those thoughts, also it struck me as almost too ideal when I saw his biography in a recent program. He stated that the best moment of his career was 'Joining Southampton,' surely too good to be true? I was hoping that it was just my cynicism at play.
Rory Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 I find it pretty strange how the original poster on the Millwall site only has two posts to his name, both on that thread, registered in November 10, and appears a few days after the forum's linked on this site. Hmmm. Wind up.
channonball Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Can players move around this time of year?
Big Bad Bob Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Can players move around this time of year? If true it'll either be a pre-contract or a loan with a "view to buying" in Jan
doubleonothing Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Think the emergency loan window is still open. Just.
corsacar saint Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 One of the few we have who can make things happen. I hope this is not true, but would not be surprised if it is.
St_Tel49 Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 It's blatantly obvious he'd leave and then do well in the league above. Always seems to happen since we dropped out the top flight. We slagged off players in the CCC and they went off to do well in the Premiership. Slag them off in L1 and they go off to the Championship. OK, many like Gillett aren't as good and we have some top players, but it's still frustrating that these players temporarily overtake the club. Fuller, Delap, Higginbotham, Oakley, Svensson, Nilsson, Kasowski, Blackstock, Cranie, Mills, there are probably others we've had so many players since relegation. Peter Madsen?! I think that the real conclusions to be drawn from this is that a) None of these players was half as bad as some of our support made them out to be and b) supporters are actually very poor judges of a footballer!
Big Bad Bob Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 One of the few we have who can make things happen. I hope this is not true, but would not be surprised if it is. That's the trouble though isn't it, we have too many here 'who can make think happen' who 'aren't making things happen'. How long do you stick by them on the off chance that they may do it again?

ottery st mary Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Sad day if he left.......but then again if we part exchanged for .. Striker Steve Morison or centre half Paul Robinson..deal done... Bob Hope or No Hope.. Probably get Terry Hurlock back..........mind you he could still out tackle Spiderman..

He won't be part exchanged for anyone, he'll just be shipped out because he apparently can't get on with part of the new management team. This will be a shame, another player carrying the can for Lambert's total uselessness.

One of my favourite players who has lost his way or not suiting the system anymore... Only hope is that there are good replacements on their way... I believe some of the high earners are moving out...not much hope of getting quality in...but we can wish... Charlie Austin was suggested to Saints many times when he was at Poole and also when he first departed Reading. Steve Morison was suggested to Saints when he was at Stevenage..... NC might be right about our scouting weaknesses in recent years..... PS Mackie was also suggested when he was at Exeter before going to Plymouth for £150,000 and then onto QPR. ottery st mary Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Mind you I suggested Messi to Saints and no one listened:lol:
Saints foreva Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 A mate of mine told me a couple weeks ago that Puncheon will be leaving soon and that Adkins will be making an attempt to get Martyn Woolford from S****horpe as a replacement. He is usually hit and miss with his inside knowledge.
corky morris Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 There is no doubt that Puncheon has ability, but he has not played well this year IMHO. The question is, will he get a game with AOC playing so well & scoring goals. Maybe the club can try & sell, recoup the cost & buy a player for a different position? FWIW, I think we could replace him. The 2 wingers Carlisle started with on Saturday were on loan from Leeds & Arsenal & looked very capable. The list that AndyNorthernSaint produces is a little unfair as some of those players were rated by fans, but not by the management. If we had stayed in the Prem or even the Champ some of them may never have left. Blackstock & Best were young & behind a number of other players in the pecking order.
buctootim Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Good individual player but doesnt seem to be so much of a team player imo. Regardless of his ability though, if hes not happy with the fans on his back and there is friction with others at the club, its best if he goes.
Window Cleaner Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Another one that was too old and past it for us according to several on here a few weeks ago, Robert Pires, is about to sign for Villa. As if we could afford a player like Pires, probably still asking 15/20K a week.We may or may not have bags of cash but spending wise NC makes Lowe look like Santa Claus
thesaint sfc Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 15/20K - and the rest I'd have thought!
Window Cleaner Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 15/20K - and the rest I'd have thought! You're probably right, 3rd division mentality obviously setting in,noticed that Arsenal's 3rd string keeper got a pay rise to 30K a week the other day, don't need to play that much football on that sort of sum,too busy spending it.
Turkish Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 Another one that was too old and past it for us according to several on here a few weeks ago, Robert Pires, is about to sign for Villa. that was laughable when people were saying he was too old for us, some people really are clueless. Just like Darius Vassell wasn't good enough for us!
Dr Who? Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 I think the lad has plenty to give, and we would be shooting ourselves in the foot, if we do not keep him through this tough patch of bad form he is having.
Dr Who? Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 that was laughable when people were saying he was too old for us, some people really are clueless. Just like Darius Vassell wasn't good enough for us! Look how close Bale was to leaing Spurs, and now he is one of the best players in the premier league!
Window Cleaner Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 that was laughable when people were saying he was too old for us, some people really are clueless. Just like Darius Vassell wasn't good enough for us! Truth is we're not good enough for either of them and we probably wouldn't pay enough if we were.
ottery st mary Posted 16 November, 2010 Posted 16 November, 2010 (edited) My team selection for Saturday had Punch back in the side....Just goes to show how much I know.. Noticed in training him and Spiderman wearing pink bibs....Is that significant? Edited 16 November, 2010 by ottery st mary
