The main non-photographer one was 3,000 coppers in Manchester getting laid off, which is around a quarter of the workforce I believe (frontline services and that). Results came out saying inflation is unexpectedly high at 3.2%, and MI5 and MI6 are in some sort of grief about Guantanamo Bay and torture which is quite embarrassing and likely to cost them a fair bit. And it's also stifled existing coverage of the appalling scrapping of legal aid (worst act of class war they've carried out yet, along with the housing benefit thing) for a few days. Oh and the worrying Ireland/general eurozone crisis has been forgotten, although to be fair that's got a lot of coverage because it's good for an anti-Europe pop, hopefully everyone will have forgotten Osborne's high praise of the Irish government's methods not very long ago. Fair bit for a quiet Tuesday in November, anyway.

Though it is quite funny watching it from the American angle. The funniest part was when when Prince Charles was given subtitles (they often subtitle a news story if it is a Scottish, or Indian or whoever with a bit of an accent - but Prince f#### Charles??? - that was funny....) Anyway - time to play 'Better Dead Than Wed' a few more times. Surely a new version of this classic 80's tune will get released?

She may have had her faults, but IMO Di did a pretty good job of keeping them grounded. Others will no doubt disagree, but I couldn't give a shiny she-ite.

I only offer the suggestion because in a couple of years time when I scale down my work I might be looking for a new challenge. You know the sort of thing... 'I have never sought public office but if my country were to call for my assistance I might find it difficult to refuse....'. I'm ok with a monarchy in itself, it's a lot cheaper than a republic what with all those elections and campaigning. Just think of the words 'President John Prescott, or 'President Boris Johnson' and see how you feel. It's all the royal hangers-on that annoy me.
