Saintandy666 Posted 16 November, 2010 Share Posted 16 November, 2010 Their clause is for the Tories Well, that much is obvious! In fact, on a separate note, I have noticed in the last few months Sky have edged increasingly towards bias on their news channel. I worry. saint lard Posted 16 November, 2010 Share Posted 16 November, 2010 My family will dress the children up, get the union jacks out and ask the neighbours round; cakes, jelly, burgers, chicken drumsticks, lots of plonk and beer. We will sing along to Jerusalem and I vow to thee my country, play games laugh and have fun. Finally we will sing a rowdy version of the National Anthem and toast the Queen of the greatest people in the World. I almost feel sorry for some of those with their horse hair vests and their self righteous balls. We won't be able to get any flags out be it the Union Flag or otherwise, the ethnic minority and the PC brigade will put a dampner on that, just like it being frowned upon celebrating St Georges day with flags and bunting,i mean.....how dare we. trousers Posted 16 November, 2010 Share Posted 16 November, 2010 Its just that you refer to us as lemmings BTF. That's because those of us who see this as good news have only come to that view in a sheeplike fashion rather than through making our own minds up. BTF says so, ergo it must be true... ;-)

Barney Trubble Posted 16 November, 2010 Share Posted 16 November, 2010 Good timing - just as we all start to suffer from recession and unemployment. Just like when his mum and dad got married. Coincidence, no dout. I agree. However, as my dear old mum said today "It'll be nice though, and he seems a nice boy that one" The sentimentalists will love it but it's co contrived that I want to puke. It won't matter if it's a national day off as there will be so many unemployed that it won't make a great deal of difference.

trousers Posted 16 November, 2010 Share Posted 16 November, 2010 In the opinionated world we live in I see this as a 'win win'. The republicans are happy because it gives them something to whine about. And the non-republicans are happy because it annoys the republicans. So, republicans, carry on moaning about it to maintain the happy equilibrium. (just don't moan about it in a lemming kinda way...) ;-)

How anyone can genuinely think the Royal Family isn't good for Britain is beyond me (admittedly like most people I'm not Charles' biggest fan). I bet all the people whinging for no good reason about this wedding are the same ones whinging about Britain losing it's Brittishness. Like it or not, the Royal Family are a global icon symbolising much of what made this country great. Why should having a very likeable prince and princess (future king and queen) be seen as a bad thing? Seems like a bresh of fresh air to me! Mao Cap Posted 17 November, 2010 Share Posted 17 November, 2010 I got out of work half an hour early because at least half of all the newspapers are taken up by frenzied sycophancy instead of news, which was pretty cool and I must admit I do like the thought of having a hot Queen...never rated Diana in that department really, she had that hideous fluffy 80s hair. On the negative side, I had to wade through a lot of said sycophancy (as well as the Grauniad's sniping, which was equally tedious TBH - Indy had a single neutral article about it and led with a report about Ireland, which showed a lot of class) including a cartoon in the Daily Star showing the happy couple with Di as an angel in the background giving a thumbs-up, EUUURRRRGHHH! And the Tories got to bury a large amount of bad news today...the U-turn about Cameron's photographer chap was announced 20 minutes after the wedding announcement. Well played, it has to be said.
