>We are underperforming week in week out and Lamberts form has to be addressed by Adkins,it has gone on way too long.

The trouble is how do you address a loss of form in your best striker? Either you drop him , which will damage his confidence further and thus effectively write him off as a player for the season, at least --- or you continue to play him hoping he'll scrape a few lucky goals , gain confidence and return to form.

The dropping option is only viable if you are so well-resourced that you can afford to abandon last season's top striker. We are not Man u coping with a drop in form by Rooney. We apparently can't afford, or can't find, a real

alternative to Lambert as a combined front man and scorer, so Adkins has little choice but to hang on grimly and hope Lambert plays through it. Fortunately even an off-form Lambert is far from a passenger ,and in most games I've seen has made a positive contribution to general play, just not as positive as he would have done last year.

lolz. Good enough for French national team but not good enough for Lg1. If you had said he's too good for the players around him and league 1 doesnt allow him to play to his potential you might have had a point. As it stands, its just a really really stupid post.

Indeed.

Schneiderlin doesn't suit League One too well. Good at home though.

Probably just waiting for the 1st of January, his mentor has gone, probably doesn't understand exactly what NA wants, expected to be at the point of the attack and at the heart of the defence at the same time, probably just gobbledygook to him. Worked well with Puncheon and Antonio now just biding his time until the nightmare ends.

You can have an opinion but if it differs to someone else please resist the tempation to state they are stupid......

Think there are a few difficult decisions for this one.

LB I didn't see Harding last week, except for his OG which I thought was unlucky. Who else was going to cut out the cross? And I admit to having been a keen fan of his, but there's no doubt Dickson's knocking at the door.

CM Chaplow arriving was good, but with all three fit, there's a problem of continuity and keeping them all happy. FWIW, I would revert to Schneiderlin/Hammond.

RM Oxo is a key player at present but doesn't last the full 90 very effectively, so the greatest impact he could make, when the opposition are tired, is lost. We need Puncheon back.

ST How long can we persist with RL? Would give him a last chance with Barnard but be prepared to pull him off for Guly or Connolly at half time.

Don't see CB as a problem - has to be Fonte Seaborne .

Should be a really good game posh cannot defend but do score lots of goals I hope the Carlisle result has not taken the wind from our sail if we are on form I can see us winning 4 2

Really important to get back to winning ways we have 2 games coming up that could be the defining moment of the season win them both and we are right back in the race lose them both and we are struggling to even make the play offs.

Always annoys me when people say that. 4-3-3 to me means 4 defenders, 3 midfielders and 3 strikers. So it wasn't.

It's hardly a complex tactical phenomenon to play 4-5-1 when defending and have the wide midfielders push forward into an attacking 4-3-3 when we have the ball, is it ? Pigeon-holing fluid formations is just oversimplification and the only reason to do it is to construct an artificial (and incorrect) concept with which to criticise the manager.

There are a lot of questions about why we lost on saturday. It was because Seabourne didnt play. For me he has been an integral part of our defence and winning streak.

so why did we drop him then??

some of NAs (well I presume it's him anyway) decisions to drop or include players are a bit frightening. Jaidi has a cup game and does OK so we keep him in and drop his partner in that game to make way for a player who was given time off.Richardson was kept in instead of Butterfield as well but to me that was completely unjustified as well. Butters has done well, gone out with a minor injury and was said to be fit again, the defence as it was had automatisms so you change half of it just for what reason exactly? To me NA is tarting about with the players not based on what they do of a Saturday but on what they do in training.

Seems he could have been injured.

Start Connolly. Screw 'easing him back in', he'll never have a long run in the team, but he's quality, so use him while he's available and prepare for him to get injured. It's the only way. So Connolly/Barnard, let Lambert know he's not pulling his weight...his substantial weight.

With those 2 up front and AOC/Lallana out wide we should cause a lot of problems.

I'd go along with that. Start using Lambert as the sub and he might start coming on with something to prove.

but he was on the bench wasn't he, Seaborne not Martin, means he was fit enough to play because if not surely Martin would be on the bench.Other than that the managements esteem of Martin must be so low that even an (slightly) injured player is preferable to him, given that Martin played 90 minutes in the stiffs earlier in the week.

Peterboro may have the worst defence bar none in the country, but they have the league 1 best front 3. This game could be anything but a gimme.

I know so far they've scored more goals than our boys so far, but I know I'd rather have 3 of Lambert, Barnard, Connolly, Guly or Lallana as opposed to Boyd, Mackail-Smith and Maclean.

Boyd and Maclean over Barnard, Connolly and Guly any day of the week for me.

I was up there watching them Tuesday night V STOCKPORT (yep! Pulis and all)

They struggled to contain Stockport, until they scored, then it was as if a great weight had been taken off their shoulders and they played some pretty good football after that.

But they have no real width up front, so most of their stuff was played through the middle, at pace.

Sorry, it would be suicide to play Jahidi against them.

Mack-Smith was injured in the 2nd half, and will struggle to get fit in time for Saturday IMO.

Boyd waas doing his own thing, mopping about, getting caught offside as if he was Papa Waigo reincarnated.

MACLEAN LOOKED VERY SHARP.

Their defence is woeful, and despite having one of the best keepers they look as if they can concede at every attack.

In fact Lewis pulled off 3 magnificent saves to keep them in it.. and were talking Stockport here!

Their midfield is workmanlike, more destructive that creative.

Their whole shape is a bit suspect..big gaps between the backline and those up top.

Surely against us they will tighten up and constrict the spaces ?

WE COULD HURT THEM BADLY DOWN THE FLANKS, they don't deal with width.

If OXO is on form and Lallana stays wide I can see us testing Joe Lewis a lot .

Barney will have a field day with his pace against two one paced center backs...a penalty or two is on the cards the way they tackle. Time for Ricky to step up his game, he will never have a better chance!

An early goal for us, and I can well see us going onto a 3 or 4 nil win.

Their confidence, like ours, is paper thin.

Just been watching the NA build up interview, absolutely nothing given away,no bibs, no nothing (well Harding has one on,but it could be a dunce's cap as we know he won't start on Saturday) Looks like Forecast was training with the 1st team as well.So if LB has been gagged, guess we'll have to wait until about 2pm on Saturday to know the team.

I'd go with this but perhaps start Guly rather than Chamberlain' date=' just because he played midweek.[/quote']

Only 45 minutes though.I thought LB said Seaborne was injured, looking at a couple of weeks lay-off,seemed to be on the video OK but perhaps they've sussed it out and used old footage. What worries/amazes me is that it's the first time I've ever seen Forecast on one of the build up videos.

and posh have signed Leeds midfielder Adam Clayton on loan in time for the game

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/peterborough_united/9209456.stm

hcdajfu imo

If Clayton is half-fit that's a big blow to us as Carlisle fans gave him rave reviews when on loan from Man City last season. We just need to focus on winning and getting stuck into Peterborough and that goes for the players and fans. Drop Morgan who isn't cutting it and we need to move him on in January, Chaplow and a recently-improved Hammond in the middle (ok, he's still not great but at least he tracks runners and can be bothered), Ox-C and Lallana wide. If Seaborne is fit, he must play and if he isn't Martin must start, no Jaidi please Nigel. Rickie might be out of form but let's at least give the bloke some decent crosses to knock down and either Chaplow or Hammond have to get their backside in the box to give Barnard a hand on attacking the second balls and making Joe Lewis work hard. No more tactical errors like Carlisle please Nigel, keep it simple and we'll win plenty of games. If Lambert is out of form, let's at least use him as a Steve Howard-type battering ram and get him to bully their nervous back four a bit and let the creative players like Lallana and Ox-C make hay out of the space he creates in dangerous areas.
