Oh the doom, it's overwhelming me. FFS! Why can't we win every single away game to top of the table sides? If we don't win all our games home and away, we will be relegated. :( Coming back at the end and making a fight of it for a point was just pathetic. We should have been 3-0 up before the kick off. The manager is a pansy.

To boot Bignall had a decent game, apparently wanted to keep him but Reading wanted him to play games...told you so.

point I made at the start of the season, it is hard attracting good players to league 1 if they are not guaranteed 1st team

Such a comedian. Please stitch my sides up. People are right to be annoyed. Adkins played with things unnecesarily and then failed to react in time. It was a great opportunity to carry on doing what we've been doing and come out looking really good at the end of it. instead it couldnt really have been worse.

I accept in the grand scheme of things its not the end of the world but on a game by game analysis it was a bit of a c o c k up.

I just want to blast everyone who thinks that the only formation worth playing is 4-4-2; that everything else is defensive; and that the number of strikers you play determines how many goals you score. None of it is correct.

The problem we had today were two: Firstly that we let three in. Every time we score two away we ought to win the game.

Secondly that apart from AL and AOC, nobody else has shown the sharpness to score yet from open play. That Hammond did today couldn't be predicted. RL has lost his confidence and his sharpness; LB works hard and tries to appeal for freekicks and penalties, but he hasn't convinced me yet that he is a natural goalscorer. All our central midfield players shows no aptitude toward becoming a goalscoring mf, and JP doesn't look like a first choice even, anymore.

In spite of all this we have done fairly OK since NA came in. I will not be down hearted in spite of the fact that this was the typical Saints loss of three points, i.e. when gaining three would have made all the difference. Is it merely a coincidence or do we bottle it when it really matters?

Especially when we seem to have a player who is always on the team sheet no matter what he does or doesn't do.

I am very depressed today, thought we'd do better but I am singularily worried by NAs team selections, he seems to be ****ing players off with his "binkys"

Phew, close call, luckily I was stuck out in the middle of the Desert relying on txt updates from EoA. Not sure which the bigger disaster was in his household - the performance or running out of OSH.

Started reading the post match thread but as Samaritans aren't online at the moment....

Will go read about the egg chasers instead

must play 4-4-2 and, on another note, why oh why are we **** at defending corners????

Because we have a GK who does not command his box. Simples. Probably the best shot stopper in the Football League but aspects of his game such as this are not the same class (if they were he would probably be playing in the PL).

LOL at those saying we must play 442 every week and then blaming NA for being tactically inept.

Poor show today, hopefully we won't suffer backlash from Posh

On a game by game basis, there WILL be c o ck ups! This will be a lesson learned. Even with the c oc k up, we finished strongly and nearly got a point against a top club in the league away from home.

What is your point? Do you think Bignall should have started more matches? Matches we mostly won anyway.

Everybody knows that I think we are flogging a dead horse with Lambert ffs I've made no secret about it. Bloke has been entirely useless as a striker this season and that is his only talent. 1 goal from open play in what 17 or 18 matches is just total crap, he knows it, I know it, the manager knows it but every week he has to be on the team sheet.

but the arbitrary dropping of some players and not others won't win many friends either. Wouldn't be surprised if there were a few transfer requests flying about at SMS already.

Agreed. Problem with having so many decent players on the bench is you have to use them or they will feel they are wasting their time and missing out on starting games at another club.

Think there were a few players who should have started today and didnt.

Obviously you are happy with the performance today then ? Wont mind a few more seasons in this league then ?

Playing one out of form striker up front on his own was not likely to get as result.Go a goal down very quickly

negated the starting tactics, what does manager do..... NOTHING. Go a further goal down, what does manager do......NOTHING. ( Theres a pattern forming here if you look close )

No pressure is put on the Carlisle defence which in turn makes our five man midfield even more pointless. Yet another goal scored from an unmarked player, how many times does that happen ? FINALLY manager concedes and reverts to 442 with the result of pressure on the opposition,s defence resulting in a far better but futile ( due to now lack of time ) ending of the game.

If you cant see that then YOU are the joke.............. be happy with second rate , obviously you have lower standards in life than others.

And there were players who shouldn't have started but they did.NA has f*cked with our midfield because of some strange reason of his own.Our main striker isn't scoring so he has had to go for goals from midfield thus bringing into play players who are a defensive disaster.

They may be a top club but we beat them twice last season pretty easily and if things weren't messed with today I think we would have done it again. I accept co ckups when its the winning regular side having an off day (almost) but when its random tactics causing it i think it shouldnt just be accepted.

Scapegoat time....

Yawn

In such a tight promotion chase, the whole team has to perform, including Adkins, including Lambert.

We f**ked up big time today. Got ourselves a sniff of a promotion spot, then failed to turn up YET AGAIN.

We did it under Burley, we did it under Pardew.

Only teams that can perform week in, week out, get promoted. And we are looking like also rans who cannot cope with the competition - again.

Maybe your username explains your agenda? Why are you "now convinced" that he is technically inept (I assume that's what you mean) and lacks bottle? Unless I was dreaming, I distinctly remember Adkins saying even after the 4-0 game against the Daggers that he wasn't satisfied and we needed to work on a few things.

I accept that this is an internet forum and everyone has a right to express their views, but honestly?! Some of the drama queens we have on here...

Clearly Adkins doesnt think he made any mistakes, which is worrying. Granted there is more than 1 way to play football but when you make the wrong decision in terms of formation you have to admit it and reassure fans that you have learnt from it. Scared to Admit he's wrong incase or Cortese Backlash?

We got our noses up along side the leaders and the chasing pack, and choked - yet again. Its as simple as that.

because we beat weak sides and our principal striker still couldn't score.Until we resolve this "I have a divine right to play so up yours" attitude from that player we will have these saw toothed results

Yep agree with this.

I find extremely frustrating when players are not dropped for under performing. Makes you wonder if certain players have clauses in their contracts? ???

Blame the players all you want coach but today... put your hands up...YOU flucked up big time.

Player selection and tactics....If this was Pards our Forum experts would be spouting lots of drivel.

In reality Our Nigel is not any better......He needs to sort this out very quickly and stop blaming others.

Move onto the next two home games and win both and we move on up.

Come on Nigel Adkins...BIG improvement on your part coach.....six poiunts needed next two games...without fail.

Random tactics? I seriously doubt they were random. I fully accept they were wrong for this game. This is footy, no team always gets it right on the day.

Maybe not random, wrong word. But such a change in formation and players used was only going to end up one way imo. As soon as I heard Jaidi was in and Lambert was up on his own I knew how it would go as per my first post of the day.
