Should win, can't wait for league action to start once again- but this is just the game Saints could balls up.

 

As Posh are playing Charlton, we WILL overtake one of them (or both if they draw).

Gonna be a very tough game. Make no mistake, Carlisle are much better than last year. I hope we can pull off a win. If Lambo finally finds his shooting boots we'll definitely win.

Pretty good record against them last season though. Played them home away and neutral and got 2 wins and a draw. There are no Norwich's or Leeds' this season, we should be going all out to win this one. I'd play a team of:

 

Davis

 

FR - Fonte - Seaborne - Harding

 

Puncheon - Chaplow - Hammond - Lallana

 

Rickie - Barnard

Agree with Lighthouse's team (unless they have some brick ****house up front in which case Jaidi could possibly start?). This is one for Puncheon's work rate and ball retention. Chambo can come on for half an hour if we need him. Likewise Schneiderlin.

 

Really big game. This game and the Peterborough game are more important than the Brighton game IMO. They can run away with it for all I care, we need to get into second place and put some daylight between us and third.

Team picks itself for this. Will be listening to the game at 11.00pm in Malaysia so I hope Saintsplayer is up to the task - if it's not then they can stick the subscription where the sun don't shine - I'll not be trusting them again. I reckon it will a tough call and we might stutter on this one, but not lose... therefore at worst 1-1 draw.

Our defence is key to this match (to state the obvious). Millwall got to the Championship unspectacularly, but with a sound defence, draws, and low scoring wins. I will be ecstatic with a 1-0 win tomorrow.

I'm sorry. Did I miss something? Did Punch start playing well in the weeks since he didn't start. Don't be absurd. Start with Chamberlain.

 

He's been playing well all season.

I'd be pleased enough if we get a draw to be honest.Not that I think we'll lose mind you but this is a tough game against a side who seem to be playing quite well and scoring freely.Our defence is our weak link and we have to hope it holds up this time because if we go one down we might have difficulty getting back on level terms.

Maybe a midfield with Chappers, Hammo, and Schneido with Lallana and Punch/Chambo supporting Lambo then? Would be a very robust midfield.

 

I've no idea how Carlisle usually go about scoring their goals though.

That would indeed be an excellent game plan, doubt if NA will use it though.

Has butterfield recovered? If he has then I cant believe he isnt in peoples prefferred team for this one. I saw nothing from Richardson that made me rate him better than danny. In fact I havent been able to fault Butterfield since his arrival but most dont seem to rate him... odd.

 

Agree about changing puncheon for Chambo later on in the game but if Puncheon brings his sand wedge feet with him and misses one shot from 4 yards out then get him off whatever the stage in the game... He seems to either be with it or without it and you never know which way he'll go each game..

Butterfield seems to have recovered yes, he was training on Wednesday (or Thursday) but he was wearing a sky blue bib,which is (sometimes) an indication that he won't be in the starting 11 on Saturday. Strangely Barney was also in the bibs but this may not be particularly significant .

also in the "bibs" Puncheon and it would seem AOC as well

Good to have both Richardson and Butterfield in the squad..both fit and fighting each other for the RB position..

 

Nice to know both players can play in other positions..

 

What a great squad AP and NP and NC have put together for our promotion year.

Going for the old faithful 3-1 away win a la last season's favourite away score, after it got a welcome iring at Notts county.

 

My youngest daughter is going to the game from Keswick, only her 2nd ever game, she must be easily impressed though ... she enjoyed the Orient game earlier on this season (to be honest it wasn't too bad a game and the atmosphere was great, hope everybody is up for the game tomorrow and not an armchair brigade.

Looks pretty good to me and despite the 451 - very attack minded.

 

As to Barney - the formation gives us the opportunity to (dare I say it) have a plan B.

If he plays it will be quite interesting to see if AOC gets any change out of Tom Cruise,who I believe once started a Champions League game for the Arse (probably a 3rd round qualifier against some Moldavian tailors,salesmen and tinkers)

I'm a great fan of 451 or 433 or 721 - which is the beauty of 451 TBH - its adaptability especially when you have a very good squad with the likes of Barney/Conolly/Puncheon..... that can come off the bench.

No, no he hasn't. Which is exactly why he was dropped, made a statement that, by his own admission he had been below par and why when AOC plays we have more of an attacking threat.

Carlisle are an improved side to the one we beat twice last year, so I can see this being tougher than some think. Team wise Butterfield is recovered according to the BBC so butters back in for Richardson IMO. Barney and Lambert up front Oxo and Adam on the wings and Chaplow and Morgan (yes I'd drop the captain) in the middle of the pitch, rest of the back four has to be Harding and Fonte plus Seaborne (though I'd prefer Jaidi for this one I think)

Tomorrow will be a good test for Baj's server improvements as I can see this place being very busy.

 

I can see it being a good test for how waterproof our keyboards are myself, this game is made to order for a Saints f*ckup. That said, Ive been off the booze and on the wagon for two weeks now so I'm not in the most optimistic of moods.

I don't think we'll concede a goal the way our defence is now gelling.

Most of the indicators seem to point towards a decent result, agreed. We're on a decent run, most of the squad available, team and manager gelling, we ought to nab the points. Perversely, thats why I have a nagging doubt....
