Danish Saint Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 The team that would never play, because most of them would be in the treament room: GK: Michael Stensgaard RB: John Beresford CB: Garry Monk CB: Michael Svensson LB: Graeme Le Saux RM: Andrei Kanchelskis CM: David Hughes CM: David Howells LM: Stuart Ripley ST: Agustin Delgado ST: David Connolly (no thread about treatment room without him)
benjii Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Connolly is arguably, in my humble one, our best striker when fit. You're right though, he is often in the treatment room.
John Cool Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Garry Monk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garry_Monk is doing just fine at Swansea after recovering from a cruciate ligament. Maybe if he'd been a regular Premier League player with us he would have registered in the Cockney Rhyming Slang Dictionary :-0
krissyboy31 Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 For the older ones of us, Charlie George and Perry Groves
marc_saint Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Mark Draper. We signed him for £1.5m and he only ever made 24 apperances in 3 seasons.
Dalek2003 Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Connollly is an excellent footballer. Trouble is he spends a lot of time in the treatment room.
Badger Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 The GK should probably be Gerry Gurr who was actually an outstanding prospect - and played for us in the old Division 1 - before injury ruined his career. Ronnie Ekelund also deserves a place. Finally and as an outside bet, does Steve Moran qualify ? He was never the same again after his back injury.
Dalek2003 Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 David Hirst He was doing OK until he fell down the rabbit hole in the New forest.
Torrent Of Abuse Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 In a parallel universe, there's probably a version of this forum where we discuss the important things going on in the treatment room and rue all the players who could have a good run in the treatment room but then always end up playing. Judging by the team up there, we'd be in the Champions League of treatment rooms. Oh, and Mark Draper?
Torrent Of Abuse Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 My God. Can you imagine an England sicknote team? Anderton and Kieron Dyer not hurtling down the wing? Bryan Robson's collarbone popping every 5 minutes. Startling stuff.
Saint Charlie Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Lee Holmes has to feature. Worse than Connolly!
toofarnorth Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Murty. Not here long but hardly played.
John Boy Saint Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 £ for £ Augustin Delgado must be a legend of the highest order in this Saints team of Crocks. But what heading do you give to the team that includes Delgado's personal shopper and house maid Chalalala and Pahars bestest mate Bledelis.
Redondo Saint Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Barry Venison didn't make too many minutes on the pitch I seem to recall.
benjii Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Belmadi. I ****ing love that guy. What a player. When he was fit he was probably the best attacking midfielder at the club but unfortunately he was often over acquainted with the physiotherapist's touch.
Big John Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Can't beleive that Fat Matt is not at the top of people's lists! And world champion who stated really took the **** Bogart (sp) at Chelsea.
scott_saints Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 It's a shame about the amount of time Connolly spends in the treatment room, because he is a fantastic footballer. He could be the best footballer at the club if it wasn't for his injury record.
RonManager Posted 11 November, 2010 Posted 11 November, 2010 Connolly? Treatment Room? You sure? Yes, he is to be found there most Boxing Days.
Big John Posted 12 November, 2010 Posted 12 November, 2010 How about Jamie Redknapp, only able to play every other week, when we signed him it was a condition! Good player in his day but how disuptive was that decision to our relegation season. I am a firm believer that Harry came to SMS to make a few quid out of the club's relative success. When he realised that RL was not playing balll, he thought f it and stuck to players nf his mates agent's books, just like his son Jamie. Kerchinng

Kerchinng Would have thought JR was the opposite of what this thread is about. Used to get out on the field despite being nearly crippled by his knee injuries, in the same way Ledley King does for Spuds.
