SuperMikey Posted 8 November, 2010 Posted 8 November, 2010 Everyone has one; a singer that when you hear them, just makes you stop in your tracks and listen. Who does it for you like that? I've recently really gotten into the music of Janis Joplin - what an incredible voice she had! So much soul and emotion yet so much power...just amazing. (Very) honourable mentions go to Robert Plant back in his Led Zep days and Louis Armstrong.
Deppo Posted 8 November, 2010 Posted 8 November, 2010 The best recorded voice ever is Dionne Warwick on Walk on By. Current musician whose voice does it for me is Ray Lamontagne.
Hamilton Saint Posted 9 November, 2010 Posted 9 November, 2010 Louis Armstrong Billie Holiday Frank Sinatra Ella Fitzgerald Howlin' Wolf Ray Charles Al Green John Lennon Bob Dylan Joni Mitchell

hamster Posted 9 November, 2010 Posted 9 November, 2010 in my opinion 'the voice' is the one that you can close your eyes and listen and sort of feel your whole body and consciousness drift and almost float. it is a rare and beuatiful thing
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 November, 2010 Posted 9 November, 2010 Beth Gibbons - Portishead Lou Rhodes - Lamb Both have a truly haunting quality that give me goosebumps each and every time I hear them.
bridge too far Posted 9 November, 2010 Posted 9 November, 2010 Karen Carpenter. I wasn't particularly a fan of her stuff, but she had the most haunting voice I've ever heard - crystal clear.
