'Possessing a fierce shot and a reputation as a good dead ball taker'

:suspicious:

When he was at Plymouth he did have a good record. At Saints he never got the chance to take penalties/free kicks with a number of players ahead of him in the queue.

Good luck to him...football genius who has never given less than his best!

Won't forget him celebrating at Wembley either!

I have. What did he do?

I hope he does well.

Took a penalty a few games after he joined us in '08. Smacked it straight down the middle at the 'keeper. Blindingly obvious, not a good pen.

v Watford, 2nd pen we had missed that game

seems a slightly strange one to me not first choice midfield but a useful guy to have on the bench

makes me think permanent midfield strengthening on the cards come January, Chaplow obviously in the frame

Richard Chaplow, less hair but more talent than Wotton. Another step in the right direction.

That was an awfull game, well they all where that season but that was one of the worst.

At least we got a little bit or retribution with two later J-P Size goals at their place.

Good luck to him. Its a shame that he's become a figure of mockery ('Paul Wotton football genius' etc) amongst our fanbase.

This.

Good luck to the bloke, not the most gifted footballer, but always gives 100%, rather like a left back we once had who went on to become a Saints legend.

the 125 year celebrations can start. Very poor player, right down at the Darren Powell level, although the most committed determined player I have ever seen at SMS. Shame he couldn't swap just a little of that effort for a tad more talent. Good luck Paul, hope you do the business.

Good luck to him, not blessed with football talent - but testiment to what you can achieve with hard work and determination - hope he does well at OUFC.

Like others have said you could never fault Wotton for his commitment just sad that his football skill never matched the commitment. Good lucke to him always gave his best so I could never dislike him and his celebrations after winning the JPT where very funny.

Why did we sign him? Couldn't even pass the biscuits.....Seemed a nice guy but honestly quite hopeless......

Telling that my main Wotton memory was from the Burnley relegation game - fans streaming onto the pitch as he lay there covered in blood from a head injury with Mark Wotte shooing people away! Total commitment but no recollections of moments of footballing skill...
