Ok, I have just moved house into an old horse stable which is out in the sticks and the coverage is almost zero, I do get 4 bars for about 5 seconds, but most of the time I am running on 1 bar which fades during calls. Text messages come 10 at once and I was wondering if there is a signal booster on the market which can help my problem.

I am on Vodafone and my phone is a Nokia N8.

Help? :?

If you have wifi then there is another option which works through that but I think it's an extra £5 a month. The other possibility is an external aerial like the one you used to get for using your phone in a car, but this would be semi-fixed installation.

This one looks serious but expensive http://mobilerepeater.co.uk/shop/home.php

This one looks like a waste of money: http://www.gadgetsuk.com/Mobile-phone-signal-booster-p-16851.html

The size and location of the aerial are what matter.

Thank you for that :)

The problem is I haven't got a land line, and I am using wireless broadband through the farmhouse out yonder, ooh aah. ;)

Is vodafone the strongest signal? You might be better to port your number to the strongest provider. Also I found my phone received more calls on Holliday when it is plugged into the charger.

vodafone is by far the best signal around here, but it's still rubbish. Isn't there a cheat you can do on all mobiles to give you extra signal boost? Failing that l'm getting a couple of pigeons.

Call Vodafone and ask for 'suresignal'. They'll try charging £50 for it but you should be able to get it free if you say youre going to switch providers.

When I'm travelling around, sometimes the 3G signal strength is poor, but the phone will log on to it anyway. Try changing the network settings on the phone to 2G gprs only. This sometimes improves the signal strength for me, although you won't get high speed broadband (if you ever did anyway).
