CanadaSaint Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 It seems logical that the problem is "with the radio station" because no other clubs seem to hit these issues. The other team's feed always seems to work. However, the failure to solve the problem - after countless complaints - is shared between the Club and Perform Group. They're the ones charging us for a service they're not providing. If they don't sort it out, I'm sure it wouldn't take a genius to find a way that supporters could share Solent's commentary - through Skype or whatever.
TijuanaTim Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 The people who are responsible to us are the people we pay...
RobM Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 Solent have mentioned the problems a couple of times now, so I guess they have been flooded with emails about it! I've emailed Jordan Sibley too. In fact, I replied to the email he sent me when I first complained last month so he could see his promises that this would improve.

johnnyboy Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 officialsaints on twitter saying saintsplayer should be working now
Saint Without a Halo Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 So far we are 0-0 and bournemouth are 4-3 up maybe their commentary was the more exciting and thats why we got it instead!
saintjay77 Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 Can anybody remember that last time Saints Player wasn't an absolute **** up? That would probably be when lowe was running it and using there own radio station. Rob the BBC commentary and charge people for it and it's a pile of sh*te that people put up with. Lol

Lol I miss that station The BBC commentary isn't bad, I don't really have a problem with it as I can at least work out what's going on and it does have a Saints bias. But that's no good if you're actually being forced to listen to Bournemouth.
arfurdent Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 there are sites in the UK that will proxy host connections which will allow non UK access to the BBC Solent feed going to be better value than Saints Player on current form just Google for proxy host sites
Thedelldays Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 never had a problem with saintsplayer really
RobM Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 never had a problem with saintsplayer really Have you been using it over the last four or five weeks? The last person that said that here came back very quickly to eat their own words Even by Saints own admission, there have been problems.
Plumstead_Saint Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 You must be a very undemanding customer then. I've had it for 2 years and there's been about 12 times [4 recently], when there's been no commentary at all, or the wrong commentary, or two playing at once. then there's the times it keeps cutting out like a norman collier p.a.
sticksaint Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 Did it improve in the second half?I turned over to the radio solent commentary via the bbc website.
RobM Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 Did it improve in the second half?I turned over to the radio solent commentary via the bbc website. About half way into the second half I think, going by Twitter and comments here. In fairness not much happened in the game until then onwards anyway.
The Majestic Channon Posted 6 November, 2010 Posted 6 November, 2010 never had a problem with saintsplayer really Have you listened in the last month? or are you true to form disagreeing for the sake of it?

Didn't mind paying for the service then either. Refuse to pay a 2nd time for BBC services and it's kind of ironic that saints player has so many problems with it. Would there be the problems if it were just broadcast on the BBC site without the player?
Hamilton Saint Posted 7 November, 2010 Posted 7 November, 2010 never had a problem with saintsplayer really Do you listen to it for game commentary? It has connected to the Bournemouth game, instead of the Saints game, three times in the last four weeks. Today it had two commentaries running simultaneously! Took about 15-20 minutes to fix the problem.

patred44 Posted 7 November, 2010 Posted 7 November, 2010 (edited) I got so fed up with it yesterday I rang SMS... The receptionist was unaware there had been problems with Saintplayer.. yeah !! She claimed it has nothing to do with the club... but I reminded her it reflected on the clubs image, and affected many of Saints fans abroad. She then gave me a number for Solent. I rang Solent, they were helpful, but at a loss at what to do. They gave me a direct link to BBC football commentaries.. it worked. But it will only work for cup games apparently, and only if your in the UK. I've emailed Saintsplayer several times in recent weeks.. they just don't reply, THEY ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR TOTALLY INEPT.. Whatever, their record over the last few months proves they are not worthy of the franchise from the club. Tomorrow I am going to try to track them down by phone, let fly at them, and demand a refund for my subscription. IF ANYONE HAS ANY CONTACT NUMBERS... PLEASE LET ME HAVE THEM I will also contact the club again, and speak to someone I know to see if the club will help in any way. It's time Southampton FC knew what some cowboy outfit is doing in their name to their fans. Edited 7 November, 2010 by patred44

The station itself was garbage, but for a couple of hours each week it provided amusing and biased commentary of Saints, so it was great then. I don't mind paying for SaintsPlayer if I'm getting value out of it. If it guarantees me coverage of every game, in full, including pre and post match news and banter, from anywhere, then I'd gladly pay. But I really begrudge paying for a service that has had more problems and downtime than success this season. That's my beef.
sticksaint Posted 7 November, 2010 Posted 7 November, 2010 Seriously Delldays if you actually had saintsplayer you would find you would have a lot to complain about
dune Posted 7 November, 2010 Author Posted 7 November, 2010 I got so fed up with it yesterday I rang SMS... The receptionist was unaware there had been problems with Saintplayer.. yeah !! She claimed it has nothing to do with the club. This I don't accept. It's a service that is integrated in the football clubs official website and the football club make money from it and actively try to sell it. In future i'd advise anyone with any complaints to contact the club because they are effectively the shop that sells the product and they are selling a shoddy product so they need to be told this.
