merrimd Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great news, plus looks like a perm deal must be in the offering if they are happy for him to play on saturday and cup-tie himself.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great news, plus looks like a perm deal must be in the offering if they are happy for him to play on saturday and cup-tie himself. I doubt Chaplow will be getting any deals on a perm any time soon.
CWD Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Good news, really hope we can get him signed up in January
The Kraken Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Excellent; perfect timing for a full transfer on 1st January then.
dubai_phil Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Possible indications that we have signed a player on loan and meant to keep him if he did well for us. Now which thread was that moan in? Good news on the extension, hope he keeps it going and earns a full transfer to us the day after the loan runs out. Just what we needed to add to MS & DH to keep things boiling in the centre of the park
Castro 1 Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Excellent; perfect timing for a full transfer on 1st January then. Here Here!
Saint Charlie Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Clever work getting him on the date they did so the 93 days ends the day before the transfer window opens!
beatlesaint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great news, plus looks like a perm deal must be in the offering if they are happy for him to play on saturday and cup-tie himself. My thoughts exactly. Lets hope so, would be a good player for us in the next league up never mind this division.
Saint_Ash Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Excellent, gives us 3 centre mids to fight out for the 2 places, keeping all three of them on their toes. I really hope we sign Chappers permenantly in Jan. Would would have virtually a full decent squad then.
The9 Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Excellent; perfect timing for a full transfer on 1st January then. You cannot underestimate the brilliance of whoever put together the timings of this deal. Getting Chaplow on the date we did specifically so that in the event that a trial first month was successful any extension would run out the day before the transfer window opens is genius. Very impressed with the planning that's gone into this.
Thedelldays Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 but what does this mean for the lack of adverts around the pitch... ffs
Badger Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 but what does this mean for the lack of adverts around the pitch... ffs And how is it going to improve the catering ?
The9 Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 but what does this mean for the lack of adverts around the pitch... ffs Give it a rest, you're just drawing attention to something that hasn't even happened recently in order to complain about it.
benjii Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great news. Well done Saints, and well done Chappers - keep up the good work.
rolosfc Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Very good news, the only area of the team that we didn't have quality cover for and we now have 3 decent players competing for 2 positions. Hope we sign him on a permanant basis in Jan.
Appy Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great News, very astute signing. Especially with an impending suspension for Morgan.
Badger Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Have to agree that this is excellent news. A good player with tremendous attitude and workrate first time round. He has never really lived up to the expectations of him - the curse of Bryan Robson perhaps - but a good player for us at L1 and hopefully above. Chaplow probably also sees this as the ideal place to relaunch his career,
fanimal Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 All we want now is for all three to start chipping in with some goals, our system favours midfielders surging into the box. Both MS and DH need target practice though!
SuperSAINT Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Excellent news. He's been getting better & better as he plays more and more games for us. Great move for him and us.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great news. Hopefully, a regular run of games will allow Chappers to re-produce the form he's showed in previous seasons and we will sign him on permanently in January.
Smirking_Saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Happy with this, very happy. He is beginning to look like he is getting back to form, also adds some much needed competition for the CM places.
eelpie Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Excellent news. Chaplow's always done well for us and he is the busy rottweiler we need in the centre of the pitch. Another important cog in our machine. Onwards and upwards!
nickfinks Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 great news, nuf said without going on and on and on and on and on and on
Charlie Wayman Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 If we intend to keep him then Adkins should consider a 4-2-3-1 set-up as none of the current midfielders should be dropped to make way for Chaplow who is no better than any of the others. On the other hand we are not doing great with two strikers of similar ilk either so dropping Lambert or Barney to the bench will be no great loss for to our attacking prowess. I prefer Barnard to Lambert as he is faster and links better with Lallana and Hammond. Most of our open play goals are coming from midfield but Barney gets the odd one whereas lambert's role seems now to be as a target man for Davies and to hold the ball up whilst the rest scramble forward. Let me suggest for all of you guys to take a swipe at:- Davies Richardson Fonte (P) Seaborne Harding Hammond Chaplow Chamberlayne (E18) Schneiderlin (F21) Lallana (E21) Barnard
hasper57saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Excellent! I see from the local rag that Shrews will have THREE loan players available on saturday.

We have seen NA's first team last Tuesday, that's what he wants so that's how it will be. Morgan will move on in January.
yorkie Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Not sure if this has been picked up - but just watched the goals on bbc pages and Chaplow was bundling into their keeper for the first goal - does that count as an assist? He does offer something else to the team that we have been lacking for some time - he's not the box to box goal scorer from midfield, but he is a willing participant trying to get on the end of things giving our "play makers" someone else to aim at instead of Lambert or Barney. His effort is hard to deny, his tempered agression is a must in this league - and perhaps a few goals will come as he gets sharper in the box. Wellcome back Chappers - may not be too long before you are playing in The Championship again - and dream of a Premiership start for the Mighty Saints!
Shroppie Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 His effort is hard to deny, his tempered agression is a must in this league - and perhaps a few goals will come as he gets sharper in the box. And yet the Preston fans couldn't wait to get rid because they claim he lacked effort, bottled out of challenges and it was suggested he was not sufficiently manly. But then Ferguson had no time for him and critisised Chaplow openly, so I guess those fans didn't have the intelligence to looks for themselves. Anyway, I can't see him wanting to go back to the abuse he was getting. Welcome back, and let's hope he's staying.
Dimond Geezer Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great news. He's the type of bustling, harrying midfielder we've been crying out for. I just hope he doesn't do a Saga & go through the motions once (if) he gets a permanent deal. If he carrys on like he has been, and like he did first time around, I can see him becoming a bit of a 'cult hero'.
SouthportSaint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 The fact that Chaplow was not popular at Preston will have been partly down to him being a product of local rivals. He was highly regarded as a hard worker at Burnley but lost his way after the move to West Brom (did not play much I think).
SFC Forever Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Good news and we now have four who can do a job in midfield, Guly included of course.
Smirking_Saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 It just won't happen that way though. We have seen NA's first team last Tuesday, that's what he wants so that's how it will be. Morgan will move on in January. I hope not, regardless of some of the posters on here that just don't see it we are a different team when he plays and the boy has a massive future.
Window Cleaner Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 I hope not, regardless of some of the posters on here that just don't see it we are a different team when he plays and the boy has a massive future. Well he's not going to be ravished to be playing second fiddle to Hammond and Chaplow that's for sure.May have already put in a transfer request (just my guess there)
Smirking_Saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Well he's not going to be ravished to be playing second fiddle to Hammond and Chaplow that's for sure.May have already put in a transfer request (just my guess there) Perhaps, i would not be overly thrilled if we lost him on the cheap, that said when he plays i would rather have someone sit behind him and allow him to be the box to box player. I can see them all playing rather regularly, having 3 decent players for one CM position is no bad thing. Morgan and Hammond have had life far too easy thus far.
Toomer Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Good move by the club looks like he could be our player in the Jan window and he would still do a job in the championship.
corsacar saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Good news, hopefully we will sign him permanently in january.
scotty Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Good move by the club looks like he could be our player in the Jan window and he would still do a job in the championship. Good news, hopefully we will sign him permanently in january. +1. Would love to see him here on a permanent.
rooney Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 He was good last time around and the same this time. A welcome signing
simondo Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 meh - no overly bothered either way. he was better tuesday nite, but against poor opposition. good cover but would hope we'd get better in Jan
Saint Fan CaM Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Great job - look forward to seeing him here permenantly.
Big John Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 i like his 'english' playing style, and appears to have meshed well; win's the ball firmly and distributes it forward very quickly, he appears to have a great awareness of where those forward of him are. Not least our other loan* player Do Prado, which is something that the rest of the squad are still acclimatising to. Another example perhaps of the new scouting system working well; manager highlights area to be improved (covered), Nic tells them OUR budget, Reed's men put the feelers out, shortlist drawn up and given to manager (and his team), shorter shortlist handed back to Reed and working a sa team we get the man most suited to everyone's agendas. I like it. *read - permanent contract (gentlemen's agreement).
captainchris Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 It just won't happen that way though. We have seen NA's first team last Tuesday, that's what he wants so that's how it will be. Morgan will move on in January. Agree with this. Schneiderlin has not improved enough - there's not enough to his game...
Thedelldays Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Agree with this. Schneiderlin has not improved enough - there's not enough to his game... not enought to his game..? you do realise he plays for france u19/U21.....you have to be good to get picked for that lot.. I went to the Oldham game and watched him closely..I thought he played well...he rarely gives the ball away and alway looks for intelligent passes to players in space.. yet, come on here and he was slated....for nothing other than "busting a gut" to get into the box....that is not his game...
Whitey Grandad Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 I hope not, regardless of some of the posters on here that just don't see it we are a different team when he plays and the boy has a massive future. Hm, prefer Hammond and Chaplow meself.
