simo Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Anyone tried it and if so is it worth the extra money ?
Chalkie saint Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 my friend tried it, it was good but you only get 1 drink free which she thought should have been a bit more.
JRM Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 my friend tried it, it was good but you only get 1 drink free which she thought should have been a bit more. Why? It's bloody cheap, one of best seats in ground a cooked meal and a drink for £35 (+ vat I think) . Bargain really.
dune Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 I'd consider it if it was a fish and chips club.
dickyhale Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 (edited) Anyone tried it and if so is it worth the extra money ? We did it myself and Rolly was very good as Rolly was free as he is 13 so not to bad. So if you have a child under 14 it free for them. One free drink. Food was like a Vesta meal but we both had two big plate fulls. Edited 3 November, 2010 by dickyhale
Saint-scooby Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 I was going to book up but working on Saturday, will try it on another game for sure. ps do the have bhindi bhaji & sag aloo, I also prefer Peshwai naan to plain naan ?
rich saints Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 going to book for sat for me and my girl hope its worth the extra money

Smirking_Saint Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Seems like a decent deal, a ticket for the match is £20-odd quid, chuck in a free pint and some curry, sounds a good deal. It all hangs on the quality of the grub though.
JRM Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Do they do chicken madras, pilau rice, peshwari naan? Couple of onion bhajis as well. I might do it 2nd round of the cup if we get through. Toilet rolls in the fridge?
sotonjoe Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 I can't see the point for doing it at a game that only costs £15 a ticket. If you go to a normal game when your ticket would cost £25, your curry, drink and lounge / bar access is only costing £12 which is pretty good value really.
Jesus Reigned Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 My mate and I took our 7 year olds for the Oldham game and it was an excellent day and good value for money; we will definitely do it again if it continues at the £35 + VAT rate. The kids also got a free drinks voucher so we bought their soft drinks and you therefore effectively get 2 pints for your money as well as the kids eating and watching the game for free. I like my curries and I'd say it was passable, a very standard chicken affair with pilau rice and half a (cold!) nan, plus there were poppadoms but they'd run out when we got there! There was also a pumpkin curry veggie option. Good seats in the Itchen, cushioned and with "hand resters" as my nipper called them! Very well presented in the Mick Channon suite, there was a quiz before the match and the kids met and got autographs from Hammond and Glenn Cockerill at half-time, then Morgan came in afterwards. There is also an area for the kids to play table football and soft footballs, etc, and ours didn't want to leave at the end. Not too crowded and no trouble getting served at any time, nice relaxed atmosphere too. We will definitely do it again if the price stays the same.
Ashtead Saint Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 I took the curry club option for the Oldham game. I was very impressed. The whole setup has an 'executive' feel to it, smartly dressed and couteous staff, a relaxed atmosphere, up market seats, a Dean Hammond interview, no queue at the bar, comfortable seating both before the match and at half time, live music and a magician. The curry was adequate rather than memorable but the overall experience was very good value. The only downside was that my season ticket seat was wasted.

I was wondering whether it would be good for young ones. I think I will do this with my 6 year old when I'm over.
Hunty Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Is £35 for Saturday, then the price increases to £50 a game, still good value imo if you're taking a kid with you(who are still free). As Jesus Reigned said, buy the kids a coke and you've 2 pints included, 2 curries (they're not great, but edible), two decent seats and pre and post match entertainment for £20 extra, a bargain!

Why would I spend an extra £35+vat when I have spent a decent amount of money on my ST? If the club allowed ST owners to trade in their ST seat for the curry club (let's say £15 off the price making it £20+VAT) I would definately consider it. Win-win because they can then sell my ST seat also.
exit2 Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Well worth it, our group of 6 done the 3 games for £70 deal! Although we have season tickets which have been passed for mates for the three games, to eat, drink, meet the players, sit in the posh seats well worth it! no queue for the food, no queue for the beer, no queue for the bookies so a great day. By my only thing to say bad as before the naan breads were cold and tough.
Icey Saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 I enquired for the Brighton game but it's stopping before then changing to the 1885 club @£50 + vat so not so appealing
Minsk Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 I enquired for the Brighton game but it's stopping before then changing to the 1885 club @£50 + vat so not so appealing That's the match I was thinking of doing with my daughter. Probably still will.

That's why we are doing it for the Shrewsbury game as this is not covered by the season ticket anyway so no waste! will make a nice change to see the game from a different perspective. I am presuming there is no dress code despite it beoing corporate seating?
richie Posted 5 November, 2010 Posted 5 November, 2010 Got two boxes booked for the last game of the season for my stag/30th. Anyone's experience of boxes would be appreciated. sure it will be a decent day out. Making a weeekend of it. The club have even said they will try to get a player to come into the box to say hi. I may well be half cut though
Ashtead Saint Posted 5 November, 2010 Posted 5 November, 2010 I am presuming there is no dress code despite it beoing corporate seating? No jeans, no replica shirts (though latter doesn't seem to apply to kids).
HighcliffeSaint Posted 5 November, 2010 Posted 5 November, 2010 We organised a staff night out on Tuesday in the curry club. 13 of us went & the food was excellent. The atmosphere was however a bit flat. Good value @ £35 + vat.
hubster1960 Posted 7 November, 2010 Posted 7 November, 2010 very good value would do again if they kept it at same price

Maybe you could resell your season ticket as well which would bring the cost down considerably.

This would put season ticket holders off surely?
