paulwantsapint Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Is it too early to start this ? But think AOC 2nd goal is going to be hard to beat, reminded me a bit of a past young winger MLT in way it made keeper look stupid for being in the right place when shot was hit
Thedelldays Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 very similar to a goal walcott scored against Luton
merrimd Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Hmmm, watched it on saints player. I am still not 100% certain he meant it! He just seemed too surprised that it went in. If he did mean it, top draw though. That said, he had one hell of a game so maybe I should cut him some slack?
Saint_clark Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Look at his face when celebrating with Barnard - pretty sure he didn't mean it. In fact it's pic number 3 in the gallery; http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Gallery/0,,10280~2205922,00.html

The first was a cross/poor keeping, the second he meant, as there wasn't anyone in a position for him to cross to.
Saint_clark Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 The first was a cross/poor keeping, the second he meant, as there wasn't anyone in a position for him to cross to. But it was a high, hanging ball and if it had not swerved Lallana may well have got there in time to challenge for the ball (he is on the edge of the box when Chamberlain hits it).
dune Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 The 3rd goal was better. Fast pin point passing and a clinical finnish.
Griffo Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 The 3rd goal was better. Fast pin point passing and a clinical finnish. A Lambert flick off a long goal kick from Davis, then Lallana beating one man and pulling it back for Barnard to tap in?
Saint Charlie Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 A Lambert flick off a long goal kick from Davis, then Lallana beating one man and pulling it back for Barnard to tap in? A great simple goal where everyone does their part very well?
Saint Charlie Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Best goal for me either Chambo v Oldham or Lallana vs Bmth Carling Cup!
Griffo Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 A great simple goal where everyone does their part very well? I responded to the point that the goal didn't actually involve fast, pin point passing.
scott_saints Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Just seen the highlights, and am quite confident that both were supposed to be crosses.
Lighthouse Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Lallana's effort at Notts Co was better than any of the goals scored last night.
SNSUN Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 As much as I want to believe it was deliberate, it seems a touch of hit and hope. It's almost as if it was such a good hit, I can't believe it was intended. Watching the highlights, I was trying to see if he looked up but couldn't see it. If it was deliberate, it was a ******* hell of a hit. Will his first be given as a keeper own goal? I flaming hope not.
krissyboy31 Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Just seen the highlights, and am quite confident that both were supposed to be crosses. Nah, the first one was, the second one he definitely meant, probably because the keeper was so sh!t on the first effort.
Marsdinho Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 I reckon its this one. sorry. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/irish/9151629.stm
John Boy Saint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 He nearly did it 3 times, except Fonte steamed in to make sure it hit the back of the net.
dune Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 A Lambert flick off a long goal kick from Davis, then Lallana beating one man and pulling it back for Barnard to tap in? I can't be arsed to get into an argument about little details. That 3rd goal was the best goal because we flowed as a team. The best performance i've ever seen from a Saints team was when we destroyed Spurs at St Marys 4-0 as a team. That goal was a little sign that we are heading in the direction of being able to play like that at this level. For that reason it gave me a lot of hope for what is to come.
ribbo Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 I responded to the point that the goal didn't actually involve fast, pin point passing. lallana's bodyswerve to misfoot the defender was great and is it me or is he still growing?
Shroppie Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 very similar to a goal walcott scored against Luton And one Saga scored in the 6-0 away win at Wolves. Ahh, those were the days.................
CWD Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 It was definitely intentional, and definitely goal of the season... so far
Saint_clark Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 very similar to a goal walcott scored against Luton Not really, Walcotts was from right on the touchline with his wrong foot with the ball moving away from goal. And he didn't have a chance to set himself.
Secret Site Agent Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Hmmm, watched it on saints player. I am still not 100% certain he meant it! He just seemed too surprised that it went in. If he did mean it, top draw though. That said, he had one hell of a game so maybe I should cut him some slack? I have got to be honest. When I saw the first one, I though it was a mis-placed cross and it was just luck it went in. When I saw his second, I immediatly changed my opinion as once could be luck, but twice is by design. And I'll bet he does it again! and again!
Ekelund24 Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 Not convinced he meant it, think he put the ball in the danger area and it went in. Like I said to my mate two bad crosses ;-)

Anyway goals like that against a rubbish keeper such as Dagenham's don't count for very much on the global scale. Do it against a reasonable keeper...yep, goal of the season candidate, against that clown they had, well it probably ranks with the Southampton Schools 5 a side candidates.

Their keeper put the first one in trying to turn it over the bar.If he hadn't touched it it wouldn't have gone straight in although I think we had someone following up.
yorkiesaint Posted 4 November, 2010 Posted 4 November, 2010 As far as I can see they were both meant as crosses, and the lad was very lucky. The keeper is out of position too, too close to the front stick. Same with Fonte's goal, from a cross he should have caught. It was a bit like having 12 men, hence Adkins was being realistic and knows we have to improve. Barnard's goal was very well taken.
