paulwantsapint Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Just looking at pics from game & yet again the Northam looks empty due to giving D&R half the stand for what 250-300 fans When will the club think about it & move the black netting across to get more saints fans behind the goal Ok we are not selling out the rest of the ground, but it is annoying when walk up Northam fans are told to sit elsewhere because it is sold out then seeing 2000 empty seats while sitting in the family oriented chapel
Saint Fan CaM Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Agree. Either that or sell more Itchen North - the gap between fans there tonight was stupidly large.
fanimal Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Totally agree with both points, please wake up SFC and look after your fans (customers) - walk up fans had to go round to the Chapel and pay cash to get in last night. Looks like we are playing in an empty stadium on the TV highlights!
rolosfc Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 On a positive note... I thought the atmosphere in the Kingsland stand (Northam corner especially) was brilliant last night. Probably mainly due to fans like myself who would normally sit in the Northam sitting there. Just wish it would spread around the whole stadium.
Alanh Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Is the reason something to do with the segregation of the Northam concourse? If more of the seating towards the Itchen corner were opened up then the segregation between the fans on the concourse below would not work.

Cortese is on record as saying he'd prefer the whole Northam for home fans only. I've never been in the Northam but I'd guess that there's a big brick wall in the concourse right below where the home fans 'end'.

There a number of shutters which run throughout the Northam so that the concorse (spl) can be shortened or extended depending on away capacity!

I've never been in the Northam but I'd guess that there's a big brick wall in the concourse right below where the home fans 'end'. There's a set of corrugated metal shutters which are opened and closed depending on demand between Block 42 and 43, but that only allows access as far as Block 43 - and I *think* (can't remember) that's where the brick wall is, from memory - mainly because I don't recall any "shutter banging" at any matches other than Cup games where the away fans are across into Block 42, so there can't be shutters between Home 43 and Away 44 or it would happen every match.

Bensfcno1 Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 I cant rememebr if there is or not cz every time ive been recently they havnt been open that far, but even still that leaves at least an extra 2 blocks which could be filled! Cz i was late buying tickets yday before the game, i sat in the Chapel, and It looked terrible with the 200 or so D&R fans seperated by so many seats eigther side of them. TBF, at times you could here them over both the Northam and Itchen!
LeBenali Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Genuine question, how did we manage to get so many of our fans in that section of the Northam for the MK Dons game in the JPT if there is some kind of segregation in the concourses?
Thedelldays Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 so..despiste a very good crowd for a tuesday night in league 1....people are more concerned on how it looks..?
Torres Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 so..despiste a very good crowd for a tuesday night in league 1....people are more concerned on how it looks..? More concerned? Are they?
dune Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Maybe it costs the club less to police/steward a game if there is a wider area of segregation?
sfc1971 Posted 3 November, 2010 Posted 3 November, 2010 Maybe it costs the club less to police/steward a game if there is a wider area of segregation? Spot on. Also the cops wont supply the resources on a Tue night for D&R 300 fans. Not enough for them to intimidate/film.
