Keeping Chaplow

Badger

Recommended Posts

I was impressed with Chappers in his first spell with us, and hope we can keep him permantly.

Does anyone know when the paperwork has to be finalised by to allow him to play against Daggers?

I hope so. I guess we will find out tomorrow. ;)

Excellent news, prefer him to Scheiderlin as he actually makes forward runs.

now thats an interesting point. A mate of mine, fellow saints fan, deals in my trade with people all over the country including one guy at preston, when my mate spoke with him after the Chaplow loan deal the preston bloke said "youre welcome to him, he can only move or pass sideways, we call him The Crab"

Once again we have this common misconception that a football team is composed of a goalkeeper and 10 free electrons who can spin

and wander every which way they choose on the pitch.Players assume the role that the manager or coach gives them, if they wander off along their own trajectory every now again the get subbed and bollicked by the manager. All professional footballers are capable of making tackles (after a fashion),hitting 50 yard passes, juggling the ball 300 times and going on forward runs. Whether the coach wants them to do that is something else.

I'm just telling you what the preston guy said. I would love to keep him here, I thought he was terrific during his first loan spell and he seems to be doing the job again now. Will be gutted if we dont get him on a permanent.

According to the Echo his loan runs out after the Daggers game, so he's cleared already.

Hmmm, I'm sure they said on Solent (as heard via SaintsPlayer) that Saturday was his last game (of the 'initial' loan period).

Anyways, he was training with the squad today which is hopefully a good sign.

I think he plays well in the position he is obviously being asked to play. He is easily the most technically gifted CM we have, by a long long way.

I don't get the reason everyone slags off his attacking play, it is obvious to me he has clear instructions from Adkins.

Exactly, Morgan is the new Matt Oakley, people slag him off who do not understand the role he is asked to play, it was ever thus with Matty as well

Yes, I like Chaplow and I hope we keep him but he will never be an international player. There is every chance that Morgan will and there ends the debate.

Obviously not. By that logic someone who goes on to play for Andorra or the Faroe Islands is better than Chaplow. What 'tardishness.

Very clever, belittle a poster by refuting things he didnt actually say. Since Morgan is French, Chaplow is English - two directly comparable footballing nations, he made a valid point.

Nonsense.

People slag him off when he plays poorly, which he did on Saturday.

there are certainly people on here that don't recognise his talent and ability. I have seen plenty of "I don't see what all the fuss with Morgan is about..." type posts.

You only have to watch us play when he is suspended or unavailable. The difference is incredible.

But probably not with us.Morgan is at a crossroads in his development, because of the bleuets elimination from Euro 2011 the side will now gradually swing towards the 1990/1991 generation. So there are very few opportunities left for the 1989 generation apart from those who laurent Blanc wants to maintain in the Equipe France structue ie Morgan and 3 or 4 others, because they have genuine international potential according to the DTN.Even if we go up this season he's not going to get full international status playing with a NPC club because the football is judged to be of a lower standard than any major championship or even the French 1st division. So he'll probably want to move on sooner than later as I believe he has genuine international ambitions.

It would seem that many of our fans don't care for the finer aspects of what is now judged to be good football. I watched some of Blackpool-Baggies yesterday.Even at Blackpool the ball goes round and round and back and forward as players try to get into position to launch a meaningful raid, they don't just boot it in the general direction of someone who is triple marked and shut out.

This is the way the game is now played, keep the ball, inch forward and then whoosh...all this crap about lunging runs and forward passes being de rigeur just aren't valid any more. Having the ball is what counts.

Keeping Chaplow. Sounds like a new film. Telly Savalas in lead role?

It does rather - maybe Yul Brynner for the lead though. I just wish we had a loanee called Schtum who we wanted to sign permanently. Maybe it will happen one day - you can't stop a man dreaming...

I am assuming that this response is ironic. Comparing the French with the Faroe Islands - you cannot be serious!!!

Sadly you are probably right but I would love to see him achieve it while still playing for us.
