I have a Seat Leon Cupra R 225 (53 plate) and it has served me well..nothing has gone wrong with it in nearly 4 years...however, that is starting to change...lots of little things are poping their heads up and it is starting to cost..

I popped over to the seat gagrage here in plymouth and they have offered a very good PX price (compared to most that I called around with)...

I am stuck...which one of the two do I go for..?

the Ibiza is 2 years younger (58 plate) but 5 speed and a 1.4.

the Leon is a a tad older (56 plate) but 6 speed and a 2.0 TDI..

I dont do many motorway miles..(plymouth - southampton)...

which would be the better bet...the newer smaller, cheaper one...or the slightly older, expensive but more powerfull..?

If you do Plymouth to Southampton then I suspect that would be quite wearing in a 1.4 Ibiza, whereas the Leon would be a much easier drive.

Personally, I think I'd find the Ibiza completely gutless. The Leon has the 140bhp diesel which will give it plenty of poke and be pretty economical too. So, Leon for me every time.

I dont do the plymouth southampton route THAT often...

Not above water anyway.

Still, I'd go for the newer one as you'll only be disappointed with another, less sporty, Leon after yours.

a 1.4 Ibiza will be a good little run around wont it..???

not too fussed about having a "sporty" car anymore..would rather save on running costs etc

You won't find many methods of transport much cheaper, except walking. Much better in and around the city too. RFT is cheaper as well.
