Smirking_Saint Posted 1 November, 2010 Share Posted 1 November, 2010 Why? It is what a lot of us expected to happen. Saints were ML toy, I doubt his heirs have the same attachment to the club, and i suspect are not willing to run with NC costly plans. I don't think Leftbacks comments are a slur on NC. It amazes me how irate people get when they come across an opinion that they has probably been rolling around in the back of their own minds, but would prefer not to hear. Surely as a message board, and as long as those opinions are not offensive, people are quite within there rights to state whatever info they have heard. Its not the opinion, it is the fact that the only thing Leftback ever seems to write about is this agenda driven crap regarding Cortese, i can only imagine he is a disgruntled ex employee. Dimond Geezer Posted 1 November, 2010 Share Posted 1 November, 2010 The paranoia on here is unreal Am I the only one who noticed the irony of this statement - Brilliant. I raise my hat to you sir!
Charlie Wayman Posted 1 November, 2010 Share Posted 1 November, 2010 That is a very loaded statement indeed. Are you saying that the Liebherr's will pull out at the end of the season if we don't go up ? I fear they will sell up in the spring anyway, why would Cortese wish to hang around in this backwater running a minor football team? He is a business executive persuing a high-flying career; without Marcus around this may be looking to him increasingly like a career cul-de-sac especially now the first shock has worn off. If Cortese can get us to the top of this league and running well then he'll get a very good price indeed for Saints - debt free and promotion probables, must be worth £20m
Kingsland Red Posted 1 November, 2010 Share Posted 1 November, 2010 How can the building contract be determined by NC? Contractors in the UK price their preliminaries against a JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) or IFC (Intermediate form of contract) contract which are recognised by the construction industry professionals, with insurances, damages, defects periods etc all determined in the documents the contractor prices. None of the above will happen IMO, and if we do get sold, it will hopefully be to someone with ambition and money to back that up.

Well, any JCT standard form can be heavily amended to whatever the client wants and agrees with the contractor. The original contractor was Farnrise http://www.farnrise.co.uk/news.html - (decent enough company from what i hear) check out about halfway down news for Dec 09 (they also sponsored the pompey fa cup game), but quite why the works haven't gone ahead, i don't know. AK Posted 2 November, 2010 Share Posted 2 November, 2010 Just read the article and see which bits are true and what has happened. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/BreakingNewsArchive/0,,10280~2091~2258019,00.html Farnrise were never formally appointed and thats why the works have not gone ahead with them, the architect was never paid and is now started legal proceedings against the club, no further planning applications have been lodged. Theses are facts the reasonings behind NC's decision process would be conjecture on my part.

I think Farnrise were appointed to carry out some enabling works for the scheme, which i understand were done, although i cannot say for sure. I cannot say whether they have been paid for these works either.
eling-saint Posted 3 November, 2010 Author Share Posted 3 November, 2010 Since I asked the original question I have heard that local residents attended a viewing of the new plans last night and given a beer & curry. Seems like the doomsday scenario is not as certain as some think?
