thesaint sfc Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 I've got to have a load of new carpet fitted within the next couple of weeks. Where is the best place to go for £/quality. I was going to go to Carpet Right, but I ran that past someone who called them carpet Shi*e - so have had second thoughts. I live in West Sussex so it would need to be a branch of shops that operate in this area! Am I best to get it fitted by the store or find someone who fits carpet and try and do a deal with them?
Colinjb Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 I've never had a problem with Carpet Right. Although I suspect if you put the effort in you will be able to save money on the fitting at least.
thesaint sfc Posted 29 October, 2010 Author Posted 29 October, 2010 They've got a bloody good website where you can tick the ones that interest you and view them all together - then order 4 samples!
Dimond Geezer Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 I've used Carpet Right on several occasions without any problems. Coincidentally myself & Mrs Geezer were carpet shopping on Saturday. We ended up ordering from Mr H in Bevois Vally (no help to someone in W Suxxex), because their underlay was cheaper & of a better quality than Carpet Rights. With regards to fitting, I'd let the supplier do it, that way they will deliver & fit at the same time & you don't have a 4m roll of carpet cluttering up the lounge for a few days. This ranged between £35-50 depending on the store.
1576 Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Eastleigh carpets in er Eastleigh (Stanstead Road, Boyatt Wood. tel: 02380 612122). Did 3 rooms, hall, stairs and landing three weeks ago. Good job, can't fault it happy to have a deal on the price as well (most people don't). Big Saints flag in the showroom as well.

Dimond Geezer Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 In Sussex unforuntately Need underlay too! How much is it generally for that? I'm looking at carpet thats about £15-18 M2 3.6 x 3.7m of underlay cost me £65. I was advised to stay clear of the rubber stuff & go with the foam type as it has better insulation properties & keep it's shape better, and is actually cheaper.
sotonjoe Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 There's nothing wrong with the carpet at Carpet Right as long as you avoid the cheaper stuff like the plague. However, you'd be mad to purchase anything from them other than the carpet itself. In other words, get your fitter to supply underlay and trims. The price of these accessories and the fitting costs themselves are astronomical if supplied by Carpet Right. They use these prices to make up for the 'discounts' offered on the actual carpets. If you don't believe me, get Carpet Right to quote for these bits then approach a good quality independent fitter to see what they quote. You could probably half your costs doing it that way.
