georgeweahscousin Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 ...to start on the right wing tomorrow? Would love to see Chamberlain given a shot to be honest, Puncheon still looks off form and he gives us that added pace. A spell on the bench could give Puncheon a kick up the arse too.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Punch for me. Ox on bench to change things if needed.
The9 Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Punch for me. Ox on bench to change things if needed. Agreed, Puncheon has had his pondering drilled out of him by Adkins, and Chamberlain hasn't been as successful when starting as he has coming on as a sub. Also, it's useful to have the option to pull Puncheon inside if someone's already on a yellow.
SFC Forever Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 I agree. Use Ox as an impact sub as and when required. Bring him on early if needed but I would also like to see him used when we are cruising.
Saint_Ash Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Use the Ox as an impact player as Adkins likes to say.
MarkSFC Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Punch to start as we're away and you would expect County to be very fired up first 10-15 mins. Puncheon is good at keeping the ball which will be key early doors. Chamberlain offers the best option when County start to tire, running at defenders and also get on the end of long balls over the top. As long as we don't concede more than one early doors I'm sure we'll win.
West End Saint Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 I am going with the majority Punch to start thought he had a good game V Oldham Chambo is a really exiting prospect & he can bring the impact we need from the bench to change a game as defenders tire to bring him on with 25 mins to go can make things happen.
dubai_phil Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Punch to start and Oxo to come on. Puncheon is not as bad a player as many have made out the two times I have seen him this season. His decision making was poor but he performs a solid role in the midfield (in general) But Oxo with his pace and confidence AND his skill coming on with 20 minutes or so left will scare L1 defenders to death. Think of it the other way around. Would you prefer to start with Oxo and then have Punch coming on for the last 20 minutes? At least with him on the bench you have far more options should the game need changing IMHO
Chez Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 One day we'll take off a striker, push Lallana inside and play both OXC and Puncheon.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 It's only a matter of time until Puncheon cuts inside and curls a beauty into the far post IMO. He's finding his feet and I'd definitely leave him in the team. As said, OC is a brilliant impact sub to bring on. As well as his pace he is a completely different player to Puncheon. Right footed for starters meaning he doesn't need to cut inside and can run straight to the byline and cross. Imagine being a defender being turned inside out by Puncheon for 70 minutes then having to try to keep up with a fresh-legged Chamberlain.
Doctoroncall Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 One day we'll take off a striker, push Lallana inside and play both OXC and Puncheon. That would be nice to see. Puncheon to start even though he didn't play well against Oldham for me. He has some decent form this season and oxo is useful for the last thirty minutes or so with his pace.
lethallee Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Alex Ox main attribute is pace so makes sense to bring him on in 2nd half when opposition have started to tire.
K,Billy's supersound Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 puncheon to start for me oxo on for last 15-20mins if needing a goal
alpine_saint Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Dont rate Puncheon, so its got to be Chamberlain.
sfc4prem Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Punch to start Ox-C to come on and demolish their tired players with 25 minutes to go.
St_Tel49 Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Puncheon - Adkins is very conscious of over-using a young player if it is against his long term interests so OC is being used exactly right - for impact. Anyway, Puncheon has been good in the last few games.
NickG Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Dont rate Puncheon, so its got to be Chamberlain. I don't think people should slate you all the time for not seeing the team - but how can you say this? Was in the divisions team of year last year, very good record of assists and goals - clearly rated by both our managers over last two years, What have you seen that you don't like? If its tv games, I remember MK away in JPT when he was about the best player on the pitch - playing for losing side
SNSUN Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 I'd rather see Punch on the left and Lallana on the right, but as that's not going to happen, my choice would be to start The O.C.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 He might not be ready just yet and you really shouldn't rush young players, but if he continues to develop at the current rate Alex Chamberlain will (very likely) nail down a starting place in the 1st team before very long. We've all seen some bloody good youngsters emerge from this club in recent years - the signs are that this lad could be the next.

Matthew Le God Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 I'd rather see Punch on the left and Lallana on the right, but as that's not going to happen Have you not noticed for the last 10 months Lallana and Puncheon swap wings throughout the game?
SNSUN Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Have you not noticed for the last 10 months Lallana and Puncheon swap wings throughout the game? Yep, but more often than not it's Punch on the left and Lallana on the right. I'd like to see that more permanent. Punch can be a threat cutting in from the right to shoot, but I'm a believer in having left footers on the left crossing balls in.
