The calm before the storm? The fanbase have settled down after the "AP gone" and saw enough in the home games to think we may progress well both positionally in the League and from a style of play standpoint.

Then we went to Huddersfield and gave another (so typical of late) limp wristed display.

What will this afternoon bring? A big away following, the opportunity to close the gap on those insignificannt South Coast L1 clubs?

Will the players bring their playing heads with them this time? Can we explode from the blocks or will they be thinking, pah it's only Notts County it'll be a stroll.

Important game for the rest of the season IMHO. The mindset is the key. Not just a "must not lose" game but also a "must perform game"

We need to win to keep in with the pack. If we have a good run we need to aim to be in a good play off position by Christmas then push for 2nd place. The question is whether we have the will to do it.

BUTTERFIELD----------FONTE----SEABORNE-----HARDING

---------PUNCHEON-----SCHNEIDERLIN-----LALLANA-----

-----------GULY----------LAMBERT-------BARNARD------

Subs: Bart, Dickson, Richardson, Jaidi, Hammond, Chamberlain, Chaplow

So that is

Davis

Richardson - Fonte - Seaborne - Harding

Puncheon - Schneiderlin - Hammond - Lallana

Lambert - Barnard

Happy to see Chamberlain as impact player from bench. Guly unlucky not to start but Barnards energy more important at the start.

Worried about our central midfield but although Chaplow has energy and commitment his passing is a bit wayward. Assume he is also on the bench.

They said on Soccer AM this morning that Paul Ince is still serving his touchline ban from when he was Dons boss!

I can't see anything than a Saints win IMO. This is a chance to get in with the pack and make a big jump up the table.

COYS! 3-1 win!

we need to win......

however, we will lose thanks to their new manager

Always love your positive attitude! No doubt you will sit at home hoping for a defeat so you can come on and tell everyone you were right...

Frazer Richardson gets his 1st start in place of the injured Butterfield, Lee Barnard makes his first start since the B'mouth win

Sensible team, I'd guess that would be most people's choice. Butterfield has been steady but I don't think he offers us enough offensively.

Come on Saints, lets get this season properly going. A repeat of the Bristol Rovers away result would be a beauty (though I'll clearly settle for a scrappy 0-1 scoreline).

That!! this is what it's all about atm, probably the hardest job NA has on his hands right now is the get the mindset right.

There's progress to be seen already, the players reaction today will be a good indicator of how much progress is still needed.

We SHOULD win this, but we should have beaten Huddersfield.

I think we will win. COYS !

Completely disagree, his crossing this season has been nothing short of phenomenal, and he's had a few long range shots which have been well saved or gone just wide.

Haven't seen anything to suggest Butterfield was any better than James if I'm being honest, just another steady eddie. I think Richardson will be different though, give him a few games to kick into things and get used to playing with Puncheon and I think we will get a few more goals from the right hand side.

Yeah, I worded that badly. His crossing he has been good I'd agree; there's just not enough of it. Also true of Harding in the last few games, I think our full backs are not getting forward as much as they did last year. Watching Calderon's goal from right back for Brighton last week showed what we're missing, a full back who will regularly bomb on past the midfielder and create chances either for himself or the team. I don't think either of our full backs are doing that at the moment, maybe because they have more of a safety first attitude.

We've had more assists from the right hand side (Puncheon 2, Butterfield 1) than the left (Lallana 1) this season.

Hmmm, maybe. Can't say i've noticed that though, I can remember Harding running on past Lallana a fair few times last week. It's even on the highlights due to a lovely little dummy and backheel from Lallana.

Well Butterfield is injured so i am happy with have the likes of Richardson coming in hopefully he can have an good debut for the club. How good is the first eleven on paper, mind you i said that last week and we scraped through for victory. Reckon we will win 2-0 today! COYR!!

Have just seen the team and I would like to wish Good Luck to Frazer Richardson for this afternoon and if he does a Good Job then he will give Danny Butterfield a run for his money but I still stand that Butterfield is the regular RB but we will see!

Am going for 1-0/2-1 as well today as we need to get the win and like I said before and to start to push up the table and make our way towards the top 3 and promotion but we will see!

COYR :D!!

I'm not saying they don't do it. I'm saying it doesn't happen enough, and from your figures I'd suggest that us having only 1 assist from both full backs is indicative that they're not creating enough chances.

I think we are being too cautious and patient on the ball, by the time we get the ball forward we've already played a few passes and the opposition have got everyone back to defend and there isn't so much space for the full backs to get into. It is a little bit one dimensional at the moment, I'm sure it will come with time.

Last season we where far more direct and played on the counter meaning we had more space for Harding, James and Ostemebor to get into.

Not creating enough and not taking enough... I'm sure we will find our scoring groove and be back to normal soon.

I see in the paper this morning we are the highest in terms of shooting chances (170) in the whole division! Pretty poor strike rate at the moment!
