hypochondriac Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Well done saints. We are completely in the right here.
aintforever Posted 29 October, 2010 Posted 29 October, 2010 Saints do everything by the book and everyone puts spin on it shocker. While we keep on winning i couldnt give a toss! We are 14th in division 3 by the way.
Scudamore Posted 30 October, 2010 Posted 30 October, 2010 While we keep on winning i couldnt give a toss! We are 14th in division 3 by the way. And our form shows as WDWLWW Which is probably why he said "while we keep on winning" instead of "while we're flying high in the league" or some such.
Steeleye Saint Posted 30 October, 2010 Posted 30 October, 2010 It seems a bit petty to me to be airing the dirty laundry in public. The club have already won the "fight", against the mightly Shrewsbury; why the need to go public and brag about it? Of course Shrewsbury will want to maximise their profits from the game, clubs like that need big cup games to make ends meet. Very strange; boasting about one-upmanship over a small League 2 side. Quite agree with this - looks to me like yet another PR gaffe. Are we trying to alienate everybody in football?
Thedelldays Posted 30 October, 2010 Posted 30 October, 2010 Quite agree with this - looks to me like yet another PR gaffe. Are we trying to alienate everybody in football? yes...I very much doubt many saints fans know about this..let alone the great wide football world
Andy_Porter Posted 30 October, 2010 Posted 30 October, 2010 If the shoe was on the other foot and we get United or Arsenal in R3 I wonder if we will have such an attitude towards cheapest possible tickets? I doubt it. This is just another PR blunder IMO, right idea but wrong execution. Just makes the club and Cortese look petty.

Robsk II Posted 30 October, 2010 Posted 30 October, 2010 horrible little bully. Has no clue how to behave.....very dangerous little whelk, ? idiot. I for one would be more inclined to believe your stuff if you didn't seem to be a thick idiot, and the majority of your posts weren't squarely aimed at one individual. F*ck off, eh?

Personally i'd f*cking love to have cheapest possible tickets to the Emirates or Old Trafford.
aintforever Posted 30 October, 2010 Posted 30 October, 2010 Personally i'd f*cking love to have cheapest possible tickets to the Emirates or Old Trafford. I think his point is that when we are the small club playing a big draw Cortese will want to charge top wack for the tickets just like Shrewsbury. So it's hypocritical having a go at them. That said, I starting to think Cortese is actually a marketing genius who has fooled everyone, including me. SFC basically has a full page ad in probably the UK's most viewed news/sports website, complete with link to the ticket sales page on the OS... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/shrewsbury/9139736.stm That is literally advertising space money can't buy. That story makes Cortese look like a d!ck, but it also promotes the fixture by adding a bit of spice, and highlights the cheap prices. The same can be said of the spat with Bournemouth's chairman and the photographer ban, all publicity is good publicity. Poisoned Dwarf or marketing genius?
Smirking_Saint Posted 31 October, 2010 Posted 31 October, 2010 TBF we don't know how hard nosed the Shrewsbury chairman was during it. After all it is not like our commander and chief to respond to hardly anything in the media nor put out any information of negotiations etc. On the plus side, it has added a bit of spice, will probably end up in a higher crowd not just because of the price but now the PR and also takes a bit of emphasis off of the manager and players.
