InvictaSaint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 ....has scored a hat trick for Spuds at Inter Milan.
toofarnorth Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 ....has scored a hat trick for Spuds at Inter Milan. As much as I don't like Redknapp, I love to see Bale play and score. He really is some player.
Griffo Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 He is the best left sided player in the world.
latter day saint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 As much as I don't like Redknapp, I love to see Bale play and score. He really is some player. agree. i actualy jumped up when he got the third, but then thought of saggy chops grinning face on the sidelines
Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 (edited) bale is far too good for spurs.... finest left sided player in the world... if he was english he would command headlines like "stevie g" and "rooney" etc Edited 20 October, 2010 by Thedelldays
Crab Lungs Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 He is the best left sided player in the world. Without doubt. A prediction I made within the first few games I ever saw him.
thorpie the sinner Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 still made me feel proud and indeed nostalgic tonight!! What a star!!
Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Bale Left wing Walcott Right wing Crouch in the middle with lallana playing in the hole.. makes you sick
Rory Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Best player I've seen in a Saints shirt. Better than Matty.
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Is there a sell on clause? he wont be at Spurs for much longer.
LeBenali Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Does make you proud that a lad we had who was known by non-Saints for just scoring free kicks in the CCC has gone on to become the player he has!
sfc4prem Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Best player I've seen in a Saints shirt. Better than Matty. ... Hmmm....
Golden Balls Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Is there a sell on clause? he wont be at Spurs for much longer. Think we took more cash upfront when in admin?
Griffo Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Without doubt. A prediction I made within the first few games I ever saw him.
Chez Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 what a player, just glad we got to see him play for us.
sfc6mufc3 Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 What ever we got for him wasn't enough. He had a slow start at Spurs but he is their best player now imo.
S-Clarke Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Same as what others have said - glad i got to see him play in red and white. He will be a world star for years to come.
JackFrost Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Wasn't Mourinho supposed to be interested in bringing him to Real Madrid a few months ago? I think he'll be giving it serious consideration if so!
Smirking_Saint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 He is an unbelievable talent, i knew he was destined for the big time when i saw him command games from left back, and he really did stand out as our real playmaker from a full back position, which at the time was crazy. Great player, so happy for him.
captainchris Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Without doubt. A prediction I made within the first few games I ever saw him. Yes a very cold night at Staplewood Saints Res v Ipswich Res he should have been playing for the first team by then, was several classes above ...
Fowllyd Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Is there a sell on clause? he wont be at Spurs for much longer. Think we took more cash upfront when in admin? We cashed in the sell-on clause before the start of the 2008/09 season, not when we were in administration. So no, we won't be getting any sell-on money. Looking on the bright side though, we got Tommy Forecast as part of that deal...
S-Clarke Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 He is an unbelievable talent, i knew he was destined for the big time when i saw him command games from left back, and he really did stand out as our real playmaker from a full back position, which at the time was crazy. Great player, so happy for him. Gareth Bale ran our team most weeks tbh, from left back and at 17 years old, that's extraordinary tbh
Jonnyboy Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Bale Left wing Walcott Right wing Crouch in the middle with lallana playing in the hole.. makes you sick too true
Saint Fan CaM Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 And yet I remember some on here slating him in some matches! lol
Paul Chuckle Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 He was always going to leave us but I reckon he'd have stayed for at least 1 season had we got promoted in 2006/07, was a big blow he couldn't play in the 2nd leg! And to think he almost joined Forest on loan in January :-o
bpsaint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Most successful player to leave us since Bridgey?
Jonnyboy Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Most successful player to leave us since Bridgey? nah , theo got the hattrick against croatia - skills
Saint_lambden Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 And to think we took an early settlement of Tommy Forecast for this lad .....
bpsaint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 nah , theo got the hattrick against croatia - skills Purposely left out Theo as I feel he has made hardly any progress at Arsenal since leaving us, not compared to Bale. His trick seems to be sprinting in to the right side of the box and hitting a ball across the face of goal to score. No skills to turn a player, just speed. I'd even rate Wilshere as a better player already.
Rory Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 And to think we took an early settlement of Tommy Forecast for this lad ..... You have to be really thankful that, hopefully, we will never, ever, be in a desperate position such as that again. Hopefully, we'll be able to produce a player in the same ilk as Bale at some point in the near future and maybe we'll be able to hold on to him.
benjii Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 He is an unbelievable talent, i knew he was destined for the big time when i saw him command games from left back, and he really did stand out as our real playmaker from a full back position, which at the time was crazy. Great player, so happy for him. Exactly. A full-back has no right to consistently be man of the match.
benjii Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 And yet I remember some on here slating him in some matches! lol His defending was pretty ropey at times but he was only 17 and it was obvious that wouldn't be his forte as his career progressed.
Smirking_Saint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Gareth Bale ran our team most weeks tbh, from left back and at 17 years old, that's extraordinary tbh Thats my point, him and Jones were the reasons we were in that playoff, and Davies went out to injure them. Cheating c*nt.
toofarnorth Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 And to think we took an early settlement of Tommy Forecast for this lad ..... And why the hell did we give him a 5 year contract. What was that all about!
Andy_Porter Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Best player I've seen in a Saints shirt. Better than Matty. Behave yourself. He's not even close to the talent of Le Tissier.
Gemmel Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Ironic that he was the last of his batch apprentices at Saints to get a contract. Apparently it went to a vote and from what I understand went to the wire, I also know (Albeit second hand and why it wouldnt be fair to name him) a certain senior Acadmey figure voted against offering him a contract as he didnt think he would make it. In fairness though, he has stood out much more as a professional footballer than he ever did as a youth team or reserve player. Great to see him doing well, big big move for him in January or the summer.
Jonnyboy Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Purposely left out Theo as I feel he has made hardly any progress at Arsenal since leaving us, not compared to Bale. His trick seems to be sprinting in to the right side of the box and hitting a ball across the face of goal to score. No skills to turn a player, just speed. I'd even rate Wilshere as a better player already. still been damn successful
scotty Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Best player I've seen in a Saints shirt. Better than Matty. ....steady now......
bpsaint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 still been damn successful Not sure I'd go that far, he hasn't won anything and spends most of his time on the bench. Didn't even go to the last World Cup.
Scudamore Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 What's happened to the free kicks? Seemed like he'd score every time he hit one for us. Can't think of many since he left though. Obviously letting Tom Huddlestone take them all...
RedArmy Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 He is the best left sided player in the world. Iniesta and Malouda would disagree.
bpsaint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 are the goals on youtube yet... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGXrrrVLL3s
liquidsnake Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 are the goals on youtube yet... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3J-ZjG2DGw
Smirking_Saint Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Iniesta and Malouda would disagree. Messi, Ronaldo, Di Maria He is not there yet.
sfc4prem Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Iniesta and Malouda would disagree. He's so much better than Malouda. And Iniesta isn't predominantly left footed, he is a better version of Lallana. Gareth Bale; best left sided player in the world ATM.
MarkSFC Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 Imagine our left side of Bridgey and Bale?!!!!
Jonnyboy Posted 20 October, 2010 Posted 20 October, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGXrrrVLL3s nice, you wouldve thought the keeper wouldve got one of them, lol
