OldNick Posted 19 October, 2010 Share Posted 19 October, 2010 If you are thinking of going to France be aware that there is no fuel to be had. I have had a French customer on the phone and it is nye impossible to get fuel due to their strikes against raising of the pensionable age. Trains, underground, planes are in chaos. The petrol stations are limiting fuel to £10 ,if they have any. Avoid going if you can.
LGTL Posted 19 October, 2010 Share Posted 19 October, 2010 Whatever is said about the French, you have to admire them for their ability to **** everyone off, and not give a sh*t. And this is about raising the pension age from 60 to 62!
buctootim Posted 19 October, 2010 Share Posted 19 October, 2010 Whatever is said about the French, you have to admire them for their ability to **** everyone off, and not give a sh*t. And this is about raising the pension age from 60 to 62! Shoot themselves in the foot though dont they. Its infantile to demand to retire at 60 but also protest at paying the tax necessary to support it, and then trash the economy when they dont get their own way. I was supposed to be setting up an office in Paris, creating 8 jobs. Three months ago I checked in with Air France at London City to go to Monaco, change at CDG in Paris. They happily boarded me without bothering to mention that there were no onward flights from Paris due to a strike. Result wasted night in Paris, and getting up at 4am to get the last ticket on a 7 hour train ride south. Return home a few days later cancelled due to local strike. Had to drive to Genoa in Italy to get a flight home. Was supposed to be going this week to Paris for work. Cancelled. Decision now is that office will be in Copenhagen instead of Paris because what we do could be anywhere in Europe and why bother with hassle. A lot of much higher powered people than me will presumably be making similar investment decsions.
