let's get some perspective. Huddersfield are one of the strongest teams in this league, we were away from home and you can't win them all. We got revenge on them last season and at this point i hope that history repeats itself and we give them a good seeing to at ours. NA definitely changed tactics and the second half sounded much better, i see no reason to start wrist slitting or expecting the worst.

The only positive from today is that we are still only 4 points off the top 6 and 7 off of 2nd place but that is still clutching a bit. Bad day for us today but as Adkins has said that it will be a rollercoaster ride and therefore today was the bit that we don't enjoy on his ride.

Pretty much like last season.

Outclassed, out fought.

Too much pretty football, no threat up front, non existant midfield, defence couldn't cope with their physical presence, too much emphasis on passing the ball out from the back which put us under pressure everytime as it was so predictable. we have to learn to mix it up a bit.

Hudds taters were amazed at how poor we were and at our our poor body language when things weren't going our way!!

This result will not matter. It was always going to be the hardest game of the season (look at thtir home record) and we are only 6 points behind 2nd place and have played most of the top half already.

Disappointing day but nothing to concern ourselves with too much. Adkins will learn from this.

Second best team on the park. Adkins starting line-up was entirely logical. Could have made changes earlier (Barnard for Guly and maybe Morgan for Punch) but don't think it would have changed the result. The manager did the best he could with what he's got but tis result must postpone any assumptions that Adkins can work miracles.

Brighton are looking like a team that is head and shoulders above this division, which is what I expected our team to be.

Not enough fight or goals in this team to get out of this league. Players like Guly and Puncheon are a luxury we cant afford. Would not have scored today if they played all night.Lets hope we scrape the play offs and get lucky.

But these are the teams we need to take points against more so than say Tramnere last week.

Had we lost last week and won this week we'd be a point above Huddersfield.

How times have changed when a few years ago a win against Man Utd wasn't point wise, as valuable, say as a win against Coventry or whoever else were the perenial strugglers!

Could've gone above Huddersfield, can go above Oldham next week. Must you this as an incentive. Play-offs are still possible though, One or two teams will be too strong for us to beat to the auto spots this season IMO, but a long road ahead yet.

Seemed to struggle with our game?,huddersfield out thought us?

Did Adkins lose the tactical battle, did he try a plan b?

All questions for those who were at the game...

Last time i predict a comfortable win:(

A comfortable win was never on the cards when thevman told us we'd start with the same team as last week, he nearly always gets it right ,a real itk on team selection.

Terrible performance, we can only beat poor sides.

Exactly what I was trying to point out on the Tranmere thread last week when everyone was convinced we were going to be in the champions league in 4 years.....

As for today.....not good enough. P***sed off.

In all fairness yes, Huddersfield are a good side but with the players we have, we should be better. We NEED to be drawing or winning against our promotion rivals to have a chance. They have not had a good run of results of late, lost their last home league game, and we should have got something. Not the end of the world though, plenty of games left. It also hurts to loose ANY games to ****e teams in this poxy league.

but the problem is always the same as it has been from day 1 of the season. We have strikers who are totally nase against decent defences.Against crap they do a job or refs give us penaties or something but we have no firepower against solid defences. We needed to splash the old lucre for a fast, two footed striker in august once it became evident that Lambert was crocked or not interested or whatever it is that ails him.Until we sort that out we will continue with these hit or miss results.

well not really, they'd have 17 points and we'd still have 15.

LOL .... Don't drink Old Speckled Hen and make sweeping statements based on mathematical facts and common sense

Mind you have I've just recd job offers from The Sun and The Mirror for proving that facts shouldn't ruin a good story!!

The loss today has to be put down to Adkins for not changing the game plan and starting with appropriate players to counter the threat Huddersfield posed. Would have been better to stifle the game into a 0-0 draw. The players can do the business, but if they're told to play in a certain way and then it doesn't work it's the Manager that needs to hold his hands up and say - "my fault".

Perhaps Adkins is experienced enough to know how to react, however I am starting to get a little concerned that there is not enough spirit/bottle/drive in the team to battle out of this division. We shall see next week and find out if this was a blip - if not then Adkins position could be looking a bit tenuous around Xmas and then we'll be back to square one and the managerial merrygoround will continue.

Having been sat with the home lot today can def say they hate rickie lambert! We were poor today and looked very unlikely to score. They jst seemed to get men behind the ball the whole time. 11 mins injury time seemed to drag on and on! Ricky concussed according to local radio.

Credit to the travelling fans. Sounded good from where I was.

Until we get in a decent ball-winning ( not ball-losing ) midfielder we are stuck in this league.

FFS it's nothing to do with the midfield, it's about what's in front of them, has been since the opening day of the season.

Only 11 goals scored in 12 games and 4 of those against Bristol Rovers! Defensive record not bad but we must score more goals to give ourselves a chance. Another disappointing day to be a Saints fan.

We beat a poor side at home - we're nailed on champs. We lose away to the team with the best home record, we're **** and its back to square one. ho hum

Not this season so far ... played 6 and this was only their 3rd win.

Even Tranny got a draw there, Yeovil got 2 up a better team would have held on, and Brizzle rvrs won there. Not much better thanus so far!!

Heading back from game. Poor. 1st half started ok but quickly out muscled and outpaced. Shocking decision making from Davis and Fonte knocking the ball around on slippy surface. Huddersfield had great energy but both goals came from errors, albeit under great pressure.

Don't think Davis made a save second half but we'd have not scored all week. Lambo, Fonte, Punch shockingly bad. Better second half but as I say, toothless. Embarrassing afternoon. No plan b today...

Oh but ref overruled lino at one down when looked like AL got pulled down clean thru. Also Lambo flattened on 2nd half. Should have been pen. Might have given us a shot in the arm.

We were truly awful today, yes, they're one of the better teams in the division but they were so much better than us ll over the pitch, I felt bad taking my non supporting saints fans to the game, we didn't compete for the first half, didn't really look interested, guly was dreadful, lambert didn't threaten! We were poor in the middle of the park and weren't confident keeping the ball in the later stages of the pitch. We just didn't really k interested and seemed to over pass it at the back at times, threateend in the last 11 mins of injury time but just didn't seem the same team as last week...apologies on spelling, had a few and on phone!

Obviously dissapointed but hey some of you need to calm the f*ck down. A very good side beat us today. Could only listen on the radio but sounded to me like Hammond was back to his usual self (got run ragged by Joey G) and Butterfield was yet again a weak link. He came in as a solid signing but I am struggling to think of a good performance from him thus far. Seaborne sounded a bit iffy but he is young and it's games like this he needs for him to develop. I was one of the Seaborne bashers but of late he has shown a bit of promise so hopefully today was a tough lesson for him. And as for Guly... that lanky f*ck had me looking stupid last week! I go back to my original opinion. ;)

Hope lambo is ok. Just seen that he didn't know where he was when he come off.

Just got back ..... We were poor, tried to be too clever..why Kelvin insisted putting us under pressure with trickery and short passing i will never know ...we obviously cut it out in the second half but the players should have been strong enough to realise it was self defeating and taken some responsability and at times just launched the bloody thing. Prado is too good up front for Rickie, his speed of thought is just too good for the team, in fact i think he would work better with Bernard who in my opinion should have come on earlier for Rickie who was simply AWFUL. Equally Hammond was quite simply off the pace and Morgan made a big difference. Its ok playing this pretty football but i think we are a couple of players shy for this way ...an attackin CM an out and out right winger and and stronger CF although reading guy looked okish. Final two words Referee was diabolical, truely..and Puncheon falling out with bench did not look too good, one or two players looked out of sorts from the off. (RL, Punch and KD).
